  • my acer aspire one ZG5 wont charge. I tried a new one and it wont work.

  • Hi!

I have a DEAD (no led, no nothing) D250 and I tried everything to revive it....

Is there a chance to reset bios without removing the battery?

I could not find the jumper, maybe is there someone how can help me...

    thanks in advance!

  • @SNAFUxp Resetting the Bios wont fix it if it's not turning on.

  • @Aaron16 So, that's it? It's trash? I tried everything....

  • @SNAFUxp it's most likely some kind of hardware problem.

  • @Aaron16 I guess I tried to flash the wrong bios and at one point it got stuck and didn't respond to anything, so I unplugged it and remove his battery. it's dead since then.... is that bad? any idea? :D

  • I need to disconnect the internal battery where is that located at?

  • @lala1aguilas1 I believe it's on the bottom of the main board.

  • Awesome helped me so much i would have broke something without this video. Thanks for making this video.

  • Great video. Just had to fix the power jack on my fiance's aspire one and this was perfect.

    Thanks!

  • This really helped me. Not sure if you show it, but I found three flush screws at the inside top of the battery chamber.

  • hey, i have the blue aod250, i bought it for a family member, they wrecked the keyboard. i need a detailed run down on how too remove the keyboard.

  • @Gartral All you have to do is push a tab in that holds the keyboard on, watch at 1:45

  • LIKE :) Great video, it helped me a lot!!!! Thank you so much, i had problems with my dc jack

  • Which bit is the BIOS and is it replaceable? I've got a netbook here with black screen of death :(

  • @iToMmYxv BIOS is not a part. It's software.

  • @Aaron16 Well the chip its on, the ROM chip?

  • I gave up on my last netbook because the charger and posted it up for sale on ebay and its going for a whole $40. What a waste. SO anyways big surprise our 2nd one we have just like it now has the exact same issue! Their out of warranty so i'm screwed. Anyways the 2nd one I need files off the hard drive, do you know where I could get some sort of harness to conect its hard drive to a working computer so I can access the files? I can't afford to pay anyone to do this.

  • @bluefrog85 Sorry to hear that you couldn't fix it, maybe the jack problem caused something to get fried.

To get the files off look for a usb 2.5inch sata harddrive enclosure, they can be found on ebay for under $10 just search "usb 2.5 sata enclosure" and pick one, you don't need anything fancy. You will have to remove the bracket from the harddrive that holds it into the netbook so it will fit into the enclosure.

  • @Aaron16 Awesome, great info! =) Guess what my problem with both of them were? The power cords both went out at once! I don't know how it did it but yesterday as a last ditch effort I switched both ends of the ac adapter and frankensteined one adapter with the others cord, it works on both netbooks! ha. Ughh a wasted install of a dc jack though! ha. Anyways i'm super happy and you've been very helpful! Thanks for everything!

  • @Aaron16 hey man!

Liked a lot your video, could you tell me that blue tool's name?

    I fix computers too.

    thanks

  • @dredrinho22 They are just pry tools, you can search "plastic pry tools" and find all kinds for cheap

  • @bluefrog85 i had a loose DC jack on my netbook and it wouldnt charge so i just opened the computer ripped out the cords that connect to the dc outlet and spliced the charger wires and connected the two so it would charge it works fine ,im on it currently , its a bitch to put together but its worth it

  • @hustl3conMuscle210 Yes it sucks. I accidentally ripped up my keyboard connector off mine so now am using a wireless keyboard for it. ha. For my HUGE toshiba a wireless keyboard is awesome but its just funny to use with a netbook bc I usually sit it in my lap since its so small and light. On the toshiba I had the bright idea of finding the largest screen possible for watching movies at work. BIG mistake, the thing is so bulky. Ha.

Yes def worth saving, I spent 270 on mine brand new.

  • @bluefrog85 if you want to access files from your old HDD you can buy a transfer/clone kit from Best Buy. It was about 59.99. Or you can do what i did.. since i have anothter laptop to use, i bought an enclosure for my acer HDD. Bought it from amazon.com for about 20.00. That way you can just use that as a external unit...

  • @phreeknomenal Yeah thats what someone else told me to do, the enclosure thing. I got lucky though and my netbook just needed a new dc jack and power adapter. The bad is that I ripped off the connector for the keyboard on teh motherboard and its pins are so so tiny I can't solier it myself so I just bypassed its keyboard and have a wireless keyboard connected thru the usb port. Ghetto but works. Saved my $270 investment from going out the window. ha. Had that thing for two years now.

  • OH! Almost forgot. There was a loose connection on the keyboard and where it plugs in, the soldier came off. But the track pad and the power are still perfect and plug in perfect. Would keyboard not being connected make it not power on or charge?

  • SO do you have any idea whats going on? I bought the dc jack brand new and somehow still not getting it to charge or turn the computer on with it plugged in... Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

  • Hey I just put the new dc connector in and no soldiering required! ha. SO my issue now is that it won't power on and when plugged in, power lights don't come on. I've tried power cord from its twin netbook we have and its not working. When I get home i'm testing with another battery to see it power up which I think it will because it briefly kicked on and off bc it had a tiny charge from when I charged it last. Before I pulled the dc jack it only charged when you pulled the jack back and held it

  • @bluefrog85 Hmm, Have you tried to see if it powers on with out the battery in?

  • @Aaron16 I did and it won't. It will turn on with the battery but it's not charging for some reason still.

  • @bluefrog85 Well, if it wont turn on with out the battery that means there is still a problem with the power jack, Maybe open it back up and check for any lose connections and make sure everything is connected the right way.

  • @Aaron16 I never shut it up again because I can't get the power lite to come on or it to turn on again while plugged in. I connected and disconnected all of the cords including power and just don't know wtf is going on with this stupid thing. OK well I guess i'll play with it a bit longer and prob just end up selling it on ebay if I can't fix. Thanks for the help.

  • Is the dc jack soldered in? I am about to get started pulling it apart and was wondering if I would need a solder gun to pull it off? I got a new dc jack off ebay that says its no solder and it has a wiring harness connected to the dc jack.. This will work or do I need a dc jack without the wires? Sorry to bother you, its just that am finding little to no info on this. Thanks!

  • @bluefrog85 If it has the wiring harness you shouldn't need to soldier, at 5:25 I remove the wiring harness for the power jack.

  • @Aaron16 Ok awesome. Thanks for the awesome video! I have a emachine em250 but its supposed to be the same as yours so off I go. Lol. I'm guessing the new dc jack will fix my problem but you never know I guess. =) The dc jack wiggles and only charges when held a certain way. So must be a break in the wire or something. Tried new charger and still no charging.. Always something. lol.

  • what's the top? Keyboard?

  • @MikeBrandShows Keyboard and the top silver cover.

  • do I have 2 take apart the entire computer 2 change the power jack?

  • @MikeBrandShows you don't have to remove everything but you have to take the top off.

  • Great job man, had to fix my stupid dc connector, this was very helpful.

  • I replaced my DC power jack as well using this video as a reference. Thanks so much for posting it!

  • Nice work. Love the music also. Thanks for the upload!

  • @Aaron16 Do you know if the CPU is removable once the heat sink is off, like other acer laptops? Also, whats a good place to buy a new LCD?

  • @lilman227 I don't think so, I'm pretty sure is soldered in. Check eBay for new LCD's

  • @Aaron16 Thank you for the info, you gotta respect someone who replies a year old vid!

  • agreed was stuck trying to fix the dc jack. but after watching this i was able to replace it. thank you

  • @DSMFallout No problem, that's why I made this video, Plus I like taking stuff apart :P

  • what kind of things can be placed on the mini PCIe on this netbook?

  • @lazelda007 Blue tooth or a wifi card, that's pretty much it.

  • can the RAM be upgraded? how much? and which ram?

    Thank you

  • @lazelda007 yes, I belive only up to 2gb is supported, it takes DDR2 SODIMM

  • Very useful video. Thank you dearie :)

  • i got a problem with d250-1530 a week ago, the wireless card was gone from the device manager, i formated and reinstalled os (windows xp) and when i just finished the installation the wireless card was there (without drivers of course) in the device manager, so i restarted the machine and when i was about to start the drivers install the card was gone again, everytime i reinstall os i can see the wifi card but when i reboot the machine it dissapears again to never return.........any ideas?

  • Hey Ive a loose power jack in the acer aspire d255e,very similar to that,do I need to screw it back in or solder it

  • @JasonToddIsntDead Same here.

  • Thanks for the vid, I would have never gotten this thing apart without it.

  • i dropped my netbook (i have a d250-1132) the screen dosent work....ive been using it plugged into a monitor for months...im interested in replacing the screen...is it necessary to open the bottom to replace the screen (to run the wire) or can i just use the remaining wire and plug it in at the screen itself?

  • @888pineapple888 I believe there is a connector on the back of the LCD, so it may be possible to replace it with out taking the bottom off.

  • @Aaron16 kay thanks

  • Hi! good video....., In this moment I would like to replace my screen but I dont find the two screws in the botton. I could remove the screws in the top. Can you help me with myy problem?? or Could you give more information about that how replace the screem?? please!

  • @jjuanss There are screws under the black squares at the bottom, they are not the same as the top, you will need a blade to remove the thin plastic over the screws.

  • the part where i put the charger it is not that loose and it doesnt charge i need help

  • ???

  • Hey I dropped my laptop yesterday and when I went to go turn it on only the fan was powered so no wifi or screen or anything else was on , then I tapped it kinda hard in certain spots on the bottom and turned it back on and it worked , now when I turn it off while it's on by clicking start and turn off it goes back to having only power to the fan so should I check if anything is loose

  • @W33DProductionz yeah, open it up, could be some loose connections.

  • @W33DProductionz i droped my computer yesterday and i have to replace the screen

  • @BadmooddudeSky but my screen work cuz i tapped the computer around away from tthe screen and the computer worked again so i dont think its my screen but it could be

  • can you remove the keyboard without removing the screws on the bottom part..i just wanted to clean my netbook fan

  • Comment removed

  • i dont have a clue where the other red wire went to the other red wire and the black wire is attached to the power jack

  • as i took my lap top a part i seen where the power jack is there was a two red wires and two black wires but only one red wire was connected should the other one be connected to.

  • @jarom3000 On mine it was.

  • do you now how to clean the fan without disassembling it

  • @47crazed A can of compressed air is probably your best bet.

  • This example really helped me take it apart, I made a diagram and had no problems with the disassembly, but I can't figure out what's wrong with my Netbook still.

It just powers off for no reason, even when running a very light version on Linux. I've had it almost 2 years and it only worked for the 1st year.

  • wait nvm got it :)

  • omg the keyboard part is taking ssoooo long for me :S

  • FUCK YOU BECAUSE OF YOU I BROKE MY F8 KEY

  • @DipKins33 I'm sorry, I don't have a clue how you could of done that. :S

  • @Aaron16 its okay i was just a little stressed out i fixed it :)

  • Thank god you made this vid, I had a guy come to me with a first for me toe ver saw, he'd somehow jamed the prong for the power cord to plug into/onto back half a inch in the laptop, no clue how he'd managed such a feat.

  • @shadowsecter Does one have to disassemble the whole Acer to get at the DC plug in order to replace it?

  • @djnblood52 I repaired it since I know what I'm doing Ive been at it since I was 2, but ye up to the panel covering the motherboard which you see him take off last.

  • The F8 key must be removed. Then I can relocate?

  • @julikisg No, You do not need to remove the F8 key. There is a tab above it. Push that tab in.

  • and wath happen with the f8 key? can i mount it another?

(sorry but i am spanish and i dont understand english too much)

  • @julikisg I don't understand. Maybe try Google translate.

  • ihad 1 of these but its disassembled

  • I have a D250 and I was wondering if you can upgrade the graphics card? I've tried to find answers on google but I come up with nothing. Acer Store doesn't have anything useful either.

  • @TheAmazingUploader No you can't, it's all soldered to the board.

  • Ok thanks.

  • Is there any other way to get at the speakers? The audio jack in mine broke (sound no longer bypasses built ins) so I think my choices are soldering in a new one, carrying a USB audio jack or trying to take out the speakers. I don't really care about speakers, I just want to use my headphones with it.

  • @zour5 yeah you can get to the headphone jack. check the description there is a link to photos.

  • Duuude! You need way less caffeine in your diet!!! :D

In other words the keyboard comes out easy if it's snapped from a side and not the top/middle spring-claw. Pop the right claws, pull 1mm to the right, push the sprig-claw, and pull out to right gently.

I thought, for a second, that you torn the bluetooth cable from the m/b ;)) but, later, I've seen the back of the top cover where there whose no bt adapter :P

    Nice!

  • Great Vid! Is the power jack solder or plug in???????

  • @jayphill08 I believe it is plug in.

  • don't use magnets around a computer for ANYTHING. cool vid other than that.

  • @Command37 The magnets are not close enough to do any damage to anything. And Thanks :)

  • @Command37

Actually theres a really powerful magnet in the screen bezel. when you close the lid it trips a reed switch in the bottom half of the computer to let it know the screen is closed.

  • @Tracebeau weird somehow my acer d250 randomly (depends on how I hold it) senses that the screen is close... I had to turn off standby so now it only turns the screen black... still very annoying. what should I look for when I take it apart?

  • nice vid, thanks man. really helped me out!

  • Thanks man. I had to reseat the touchpad. Lifting the keyboard was a bitch with no tools

  • thanks had to fix screen flicker problem

  • At 1:32 To 1:35 What is suppose to be under the cover you take off?

  • @vincent154451 That's a Mini PCI express slot, There was nothing in it.

  • @vincent154451 if it was 3G model it would have 3G module in there, but it isnt so there is nothing inside

  • I have a d250-1990. It has a sticker with the bluetooth icon on it, which I thought meant that bluetooth comes with it. But Device Manager can't see it. If I need to re-seat the bluetooth, where would it be?

  • Hello, he forgives you can restart like the bios of this netbook

  • Thanks buddy nice video is that you know quite a question

is compatible bios Acer Aspire One with the eMachines D250 250-1291

I'll be waiting your reply thanks gracis friend

  • i even don't think to do this to my Aspire one =)

  • Hey I have a question. Will I have to take apart the whole netbook to fix my power jack

  • @jboidatrite You will have to take the top part off, if you look the the under bar there is a link to a photo set, one of the pics has the power jack in it.

  • Hey Aaron is there an easier way to take out the keyboard I am having difficulty taking it out

  • @JC09NY Just make sure you push the tab all the way in, and maybe grab a key with your finger to help up it up a bit or stick something thin under the keyboard to help it up.

  • Aaron i need to repair the power jack on my acer, are all steps shown up to the keyboard removal necessary or can i just pop off the keyboard and go from there?

  • @SleepingForPeace You will probably need to remove the top case, so yes. You will need to do all the steps, you could probably get away with not removing the RAM. All the screws on the back losen that top case.

  • @Aaron16 awesome thanks a ton

  • i used your guide to fix my acer d250 with a new dell 1510 wifi card to play with snow leopard :P

  • whats the minipce do

  • @curtdammit It allows you to add wifi cards, bluetooth, etc.

  • Thanks, Finally got the lower flat square pads off after that screen switch out took about 5 mins...and it works great. Thanks, Jamie

  • Aaron, How do I get the LCD sreen bezel removed to replace display? Thanks, Jamie

  • @jb5730 There are screws behind the square pads on the corners of the screen.

  • @Aaron16 do you know how you take out the bottom two pads? It's damn near impossible for me. They're the ones that are slightly indented... the first two were easy, but these are kind of a bitch.

  • @NDanteDouglas Mine doesn't have any pads there, it has a square but there is no pad there.

  • hey...I just saw those pictures you uploaded in flickr...... superb!!!!...... just what I was looking for....... more than excellent. Thanks a lot aaron...... keep up..... :-)

  • Hi "Aaron16"..... I saw your previous video.... but this one is excellent. Perfect light, perfect speed...... everything's perfect :-) ..... I'm sure this video will greatly help to owners of this model netbook. Nice work. Thank you very much!

  • if i want to upgrade the hard drive on this model how big can i go? i have the same netbook with 160 GB HDD

  • @djstarman Any 2.5 inch notebook hard drive should be fine, the 1tb ones might be a little to thick look for the ones in the 9mm thickness range, not in the 12mm (they may fit but I'm not sure)

  • good job still never found out whats wrong with my screen but taking it apart and putting it back together seems to have fixed it
