Anyway, good to hear they didn't fuck it up. And you're right, there was a lot of fuss over Tom Cruise playing him here in Germany - maybe I'll make a video response detailing some of it after I've seen the movie. Alas, it only starts here in a month, and I want to see the undubbed version anyway (since I always find it quite funny when "anglos" attempt to speak german :D), so I'm tempted to, err, consult other sources *wink wink* ;-)

Yah. I mean, when you do what Mel Gibson did - keep the movie in another language - it feels more like a foreign movie. But if you put it in English, it makes one wonder how it works.

I agree that excessive violence can be entertaining if that is what you want. This is why I enjoy Paul Verhoeven films such as Total Recall and Starship Troopers almost as comedies, because it is so OTT. I'm not saying I find violence funny, just impossibly gory violence.
