Yes perhaps one the BEST tracks from the Eighties....if NOT the best...amazing song...voice, muscianship production....amazing. They came out of the post-futurist sound from Scotland....their contemporaries were Orange Juice etc....but they were far better...what a pity they never really made it at all.
My favourite song ever! 27 years later & I still love it! Thanks so much for posting :)) x (& btw for the person asking about Après Ski - it was the b-side)
great to find this - still have the single - but no record player - just one of the best things ever - voice, guitar, production, sogn - the dogs absolote bollocks!
So wonderful to see this but has any one got Snakes of Shake clip from same show? We remember it being a very small clip but enough to stick in our brain for over 20 years. Sexy beast, long coat and marracuas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You got the feeling!
was ian burgoyne and keith band in this group? i think i bought 2 12" singles and covers were designed by david band? i'd forgotten how good they were
Wonderful song - a timeless classic from my youth. It remains a cherished 7inch single - shame it's not available on newer formats. Thanx for posting it up here - makes me feel warm inside - just what life enhancing tunes should do.
Every time I hear Paul Quinn's voice I think "I want that man's babies", then I remember I am a guy... Isn't ironic that Leemar sang "If there's any justice in the world" yet singers like this go un-noticed by the masses. If there's any justice in the world Leemar will walk infront of a bus and Paul Quinn will be driving it.
God I can't believe this -this song takes me right back to seeing Paul at Glasgow QMU! He was completely drunk on stage spilling beer, and the band members had F**K and S**T written on their bare chests, what a freakin night!! Tx Parkhill!!
Really sorry. We had a family bereavement (Nan) and so I haven't been on You Tube for a few weeks. Picked up your email reply today and sent you a reply...
I've got the 12" extended version on my MP3 player... if my genius husband can work out a way of converting it to email-able format I'll happily send it to you
the guitarist and keyboarder, Mick Slaven, is my college lecturer teachin HNC music performance in riverside studio. lol strange seein him with hair :P XD haha
I have a version of this without all the strings from an LP magazine, I can't remember the name of the mag, I'll have to find it & post the details later. It really highlight's Paul Quinn's vocals. Does anyone know where I could pick up the album? I once saw a cassette of the album in a second hand record shop...How I wish I had bought it....D'oh!
Big, brash and "indie" to boot... bloody brilliant!!!
