  • Lol this dude is so fake

  • Just a Big Ad .... Don't Waste your time here!

  • Bag of hot air! Advertisment video, NO LESSONS HERE, Except you learn it's a waist of your time. I waisted 1:22 minutes.....

  • It's customary and proper to aknowledge an artist when you copy his work. That way you won't mislead your audience.

  • great paintings ...............

  • why the heck does everybody seem to think painting is about just coping a photograph & blow it up???

  • @secondportrait

cause most people are idiots. they dont understand the concept of doing something new. the question you should be asking... why are so few artist today original? so many new artist use the same type/method/styles as the artists that they look up to, so everything becomes a copy of a copy of a copy...

  • My virus scanner told me that a virus was trying to get on my computer when I went to that site.

  • What is the point in talking bad of other artists just to make you better of them? I use photographs, computer graphics, pictures of my children and family, plastic dishes and anything you talk about, but I don't feel I'm wiser than academic painters! Nor I don't paint alla prima or outside, but I'm not smarter than old manners painters... I think you discovered "hot water" as we say in Italy to mean something that simply was there before you! Good luck anyway!

  • Wow! You are awesome!

    I will rate and subscribe!

  • whats with the ugly shirt (blouse) and Scarf? And a weird hat to top it off?

  • @lovesketching500

    Hi,

I make no apoligies for being an individual, i'm old enough and ugly enough not to worry about what people say about my clothing.

I'll leave putting people in pigeon holes to politicians ( they would like us to all be the same)

Even though you slagged me off, i still wish you all the very best, Trev

  • Hey look! That military painting is a direct copy of a Gericault!!! (or was it Delacroix?) Anyway, it's a copy of a French Romantic masterwork. Hopefully he acknowledges that.

  • Comment removed

  • I had a quick google search. It's Lady Elizabeth Butler's "Scotland Forever"

  • @MsFreshPaper

    Hi,

Yes it's Gericault, a good friend wanted to fill his house with some large paintings and commissioned me to paint them, i was stoney broke so i took the work on.

I really enjoyed the work, though i was really nervous when i first started because i'd never worked on anything so large.

    All the best, Trev

  • Some of the finest painters paint from photos. What are these people talking about? Not everyone is interested in the figure....and not everyone is interested in en plein air. Does that make them any less an artist? These people on here probably don't even paint.

  • The ability to draw as mechanical. It is, pure and simply, a learned skill. The "10,000 hours" rule applies here, too. After the basics your work is either trite, original, or derivative...(one of those words artists love to throw around meaning your stuff looks like someone else's). Regarding intuitive art... abstract art is still a controversy. Which Is it.... a meaningful deep and esoteric language from within or a meaningless abuse of paint ?

  • this is not really a "How to"...

  • Hate to tell you folks, art is all about copying. Monet's Haystacks...hundreds of them ..are copies of the same thing over and over in different light. The myth is that people are somehow "born" draftsmen. BS. It's geometric copying, over and over. Use grids, boxes, rulers, or projectors, it doesn't matter. No mystery. This guy did it without school and saved a load of money and time.

  • That is a bit of a cynical view of art but not an entirely correct one. A person is born with their own type of "mark," any art school education will teach you that. It is a matter of finding your own visual language. YES, Monet did many series because as an Impressionist he wanted to understand how light truly reacted to a subject. However there are artist like Rothko who never painted according to any formulas but with his subconcious ever changing the color usage and emotions brought out.

  • I'd like to see this guy paint from a live model, and I'm betting he couldn't, since he can't get it right from a photograph. The difference between painting from a live model and painting from a photograph is like the difference between making love with someone and making love with a photograph.

  • this is nothing more than an advanced paint by numbers kit. end of story.

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZ is right

  • What an utterly worthless video. This is nothing more than an advertisement.

  • An easy way is to print out your picture get some tracing paper and trace it onto the canvas.

  • So how do you trace the image onto the vanvas?

  • Print out your picture on paper, get tracing paper and trace around the part you want to draw.

  • how do you trace on a canvas since canvases are not transperant?

  • get some graphitte paper, it's easier, (graphitte (sp) paper is like carbon paper, it's black), then just print out your pic, put the g paper under it and trace it onto a canvas. I can't draw at all but I paint portraits very well.

  • Ok, thanks for the advice, i'll try that

  • he acts like its all free, "send me your name and email" its $70

  • trev also i am also sorry that i said your paintings are not worth my time they are worth more than that !! all art is because its a way of expressing oneself and i love it more than anything !--- its just there could be more practical presentation on the vid, and not as much editing to finish a painting!

keep up what you do and i hope you get the best out of what you do in life !

its just one day i hope many will remember my name for art

life is to short to argue my friend : )

  • Hi nparedes07,

I too love art more than anything after my family,

When i started these demo's it was hoping more people would get into this great hobby, even my three year old grandaughter loves painting.

I just thought people would be put off by the snobbery in the art world,

And thought lets just get things back to basics, art for the love of it!

People have layed down their lives for free speech, so do not apoligies for having your say.

I sincerely wish you all the very best,

    Trev

  • this clip is pathetic,it tells you absolutly nothing important related to oil painting, the paintings in the background are barely worthy of my time and not at an acceptable level to teach, also where are the lessons?

  • Wow! so much anger.

  • lol trev ! your almost making me laugh now for real............. you must agree to the fact that these clips give no information at all on oil painting techniques let me a few examples of such techniques..........

    chiaroscuro -

    scumbling-

    flemish technique -

alla prima- what could these be i wonder.... lol let me think!

And you don't even see you in the painting process , its all edited too !

by the way please don't take any offense, im saying what i see is all : P
