I was at that show too. So freaking great. Never knew anything about the guy--just went there on a friend's recommendation. Ended up meeting the guy (Google Lodo Grdzak's Intermission) for the pic. As talented as he is, seemed like just as cool. Ten billion stars for that show at BB Kings!!!
I think that's a perfect example of Terry with the right rhythm section. He's got a funky right hand and it needs the right band. AND he's singing like a complete motherfucker from some of the recent clips I've seen recently.
hey stevereardon1120 ...great point about "just discovering" Terry. Im only 29yrs old and after hearing him on the devils rejects. I went and bought the soundtrack then superlungs then the river then seed of memory ect.ect.ect. Just found the driver on ebay from a dude from sweden. The internet is also finally giving this guy the credit he deserves through album availability, youtube, facebook.. oh yeah and "Drunk or Sober" well i was drunk and i think terry was too....Gotta luv em
Damn is that as good as a voice can get or what???Saw terry in NYC in september, this guy still sounds great even at 60+ yrs of age. Hes also quite the funny guy telling some cool stories on stage.I cant emphasize enough how much u should go see this guy next time he comes around your hood. Even my wife who had no idea who he was enjoyed the hell out of the show. Keep on rockin terry. Cant wait for u to come back to the east coast!!!
@SuperMcabral How relevant is that shocking observation????? I don't know and don't care what "brothers" you are talking about, but, whoever, they are probably half dead or dead now. Terry is very much alive, still wowing audiences, old AND young, drunk AND sober. You obviously don't know or care much about music. Keep your superfluous comments to your own drug set. The Devil's Reject videos look more your type. (Hell, even Rob Zombie appreciates good music)
think i just died & went to music nerd heaven. river is my fave reid LP, but this KILLS the studio version. anyone know if more audio or vid exists from this lineup? hey, there's john peel at the end.
Lets not be naieve here - this is 1973 if there are no drugs in Terry's system I would be very surprised if not offended. His eyes do look a little 'baggy' in comparison to other footage I've seen. Graet song and great performance - what a sound for just guitar bass and drumes.
This is The Old Grey Whistle Test by the way - Britains greatest music prgramme. Like Bob Harris said - Thats What Its All About!!! Indeed
The most underappreciated talent in music his guitar playing/singing/songwriting is hall of fame worthy it's a shame he'll never receive the appreciation he deserves
@JoeGeetar i'm sure he knows he's the fucking man. fuck that hollywood bullshit he kept his band goin, wasn't a third as successful as led zeppelin but in my opinion blows them out of the water. he kept it true to the music and that's why it's all so good.
@JoeGeetar Don't ever say never. Have you counted the number of fans who have "just discovered" Terry Reid. Look at the numbers viewing his videos. For an unknown, he looks pretty KNOWN to me. He makes lifelong fans every time he plays, which is still pretty often, thank heavens. If we all make enough noise, Hall of Fame, here he comes.
Some people might suggest that Terry was an "Under-achiever". I saw him at Dingwalls 2007: one of the greatest of (many) gigs I've seen in the last 40 years!
Ahh, the VOICE in all caps. And to all who said before about Terry being seemingly high on drugs or some such thing - I don't think so. He's just finally happy after breaking free from the Nazi contract with his producer Mickie Most (which prevented Terry from joining LedZep and Deep Purple when they wanted him)
Happy 60th to Terry Superlungs Reid, hope to see him live again!
there's a big difference between being high and being high on music. This guy MEANT it and so to those normal folk it seems he was high, just because it so far fetched from yours and my run of the mill lifestyles, you may need the drugs, but he don't. god bless ya Terry. Saw you tonight at Ronnie Scotts and you were just fabulous mate
@joelmarkdavies No, I believe he was blazed off his ass. But, who cares either way. It helps you loosen up and get into stuff. Besides, he's Terry Reid. He can do whatever he wants lol I saw him in 2008, and he was absolutely amazing. Wasted, but amazing. I even got a chance to shake his hand a smoke a cigarette with him outside the club. He's a really sweet, LITTLE man lol I'm taller than him and I'm only 5'5".
Chris Robinson " I didnt come to truly appreciate Reid until I saw him in action for the first time sometime in 2001, working the boards at a modest West Los Angeles dive bar, fronting a stellar band of musos lead by Waddy Wachtel every Monday night. From that day forward, Reids voice became like crack to me. I had to hear it at regular intervals."
Lee Miles on bass and Soko Richardson on drums... and white boy SuperLungs feels right at home, cause just like Steve Marriott he's able to do blues/soul justice. It's not just the voice - it's in their blood, in the air they breathe; groove like this is impossible to fake.
this is what playing music about. this whole song is a variation on two basic chords. F and G and my goodness does terry make it rock. this is an amazing version of an amazing song. i prefer this jamming live version to the cd version.
IDK. Terry's eyes have always been kind of like that. Giant and deeply seated (sunken) and with big domed eyelids - see his 15 y.old photos. Some make up help that look as well. Doubt he's done "hard" drugs. Then again, he had buddies like Keith Richards and Jimmy Page, so... you never know.
anyone know the lyrics they are impossible to find on the net anywhere, for me anyways, and they are hard to understand here ,message me if you know ,thanks
October 68, nighttime & outside & COLD at Chastain Park in Atlanta. The original band. Just blew me away. They opened for some dufusses named Cream, I think it was. Then, with the line-up shown in this video live at Richard's in Atlanta on a coupla occasions. Wearin' make-up & doped up, but, still great! This is one of my fave tunes, thanx for postin' it.
I have the songs at 320 kps but I can't understand almost anything he says on this album...even if the lyrics are surreal like people say, I think I would like the songs more if I could decipher the sounds of the words
the dude that talks at the beginning and ends seems like a serial killer/rapists lmAo!...great song tho i never heard this live and i like it better than the original..i keep on finding new terry reid and its great
I might actually like the live version of this song better than the album version... that doesn't happen often. I will say though, because I've had the chance to see him, this guy can still seriously rock a house :)
You rock! Thanks for posting this. Shoeless Terry with his faithful bassist Lee Miles. He looks kind of obnoxiously happy here... I wonder if that's because he finally escaped from the clutches of his producer...
Someone who have lyrics to this song?
