I already had clear so I took them and placed a small sticker on both in the center and painted them with nail polish. My mother found my Frankenstein lenses and threw them away. Another time I saw her smoking and wanted to try that so I took a paper towel tube and filled it with paper and inhaled. Innovative....

They have a new type of surgery now, all they do is remove the melanin out of our eyes and they turn blue, or darker blue if you already have blue eyes. It's very simple and has very low risks.
the "doctor" from Panama wasn't certified, the name of the dr that performed the surgery on him is Dr delary khan. If you watch the tyra show, this lady got her blue eyes implants from the same dr inn panama and he punctured her eye ball and didnt even tell her.
I don't get all the hate that brown eyes get... Mine are a gray-ish colour, and I think that brown eyes are GORGEOUS. I find the blue / gray area of colors to be intimidating; whilst brown and hazel are warm and comforting... I actually developed a crush on a guy some years back, for his brown eyes.

Why do people really want color eyes? I think you should just love what you have and be happy that your not blind nor have complications with your eyes. I have brown eyes and most of my family have blue or green eyes; never once have I EVER wished I could have mine like my fams. These 'iris disc' were never meant to be placed over a healthy eye, the doctor who does this took advantage of cataract lens (which is meant for what it is named) and continues to profit from peoples vanity.
The doctor told her the risk before the operation because she has got a healthy eye and then it has problem which is party blind.. so the doctor suggest that she undergo operation and she does and right now she is ok. But I am not sure about changing the color of the iris though her doctor offers too... I don't know why it is acceptable and approve in Germany. Though the patients are inform of possible blindness if the operation didnt go well.

How about instead of getting permanent colored contacts put in your eyes...you change the gene that makes them that color to a new color?? You may not even have to touch the eyes at all!!! I'd like to change my color, but I want the color of my iris changed by manipulating the gene, not "mask" it with colored contacts.
@response007 Intresting point. You'd first have to find the gene that creates the pigmentation in the iris (since eye color is just a result of more or less pigments). Once you find the gene, you would need recode the RNA transcriptase with the new gene, you probably can't just remove it otherwise you'd look like an albino (complete lack of any pigmentation). Spliceosome is already known to do this to mRNA. One day you might be able to just put liquid drops in your eye to reach ur desired color!

I have hazel eyes and have even cried before when i was younger because I wanted green eyes so much, but I'd never, NEVER risk going blind to improve my appearance. wtf are people on. This has little to do with jealousy. It's more about risks and ethics. Sure his eyes may look good but the point is will they still function correctly 5 or 10 years from now. Eyes are typically one of the first things to go with age and with this technology being so premature, it's foolish to jeopardize your vision for the sake of vanity. Ethically, this procedure is right up there with skin bleaching. It's upsetting that someone could dislike something about themselves so much.

I have brown eyes and most of my family have blue or green eyes; never once have I EVER wished I could have mine like my fams. Honestly, they are not that big of a deal, and if they are and you just hate your "brown eyes" might as well just hate your self because changing your eye color does not change who you are; it's just an image.

If you say how you wish you had blue eyes and go about your daily life, fine that's ok. It's normal to want something else.

i think its great how they only told us about the dangers and risks in the uncut version and nothing on the episode that aired. It will not 'be fine', and your student should have these iris implants removed as soon as possible.
These 'iris disc' were never meant to be placed over a healthy eye, the doctor who does this took advantage of cataract lens (which is meant for what it is named) and continues to profit from peoples vanity.

The doctor told her the risk before the operation because she has got a healthy eye and then it has problem which is party blind.. so the doctor suggest that she undergo operation and she does and right now she is ok. But I am not sure about changing the color of the iris though her doctor offers too... I don't know why it is acceptable and approve in Germany. Though the patients are inform of possible blindness if the operation didnt go well.

How about instead of getting permanent colored contacts put in your eyes...you change the gene that makes them that color to a new color?? You may not even have to touch the eyes at all!!! I'd like to change my color, but I want the color of my iris changed by manipulating the gene, not "mask" it with colored contacts.

@response007 Intresting point. You'd first have to find the gene that creates the pigmentation in the iris (since eye color is just a result of more or less pigments). Once you find the gene, you would need recode the RNA transcriptase with the new gene, you probably can't just remove it otherwise you'd look like an albino (complete lack of any pigmentation). Spliceosome is already known to do this to mRNA. One day you might be able to just put liquid drops in your eye to reach ur desired color!

Kudos to the wise doctor that warns that this procedure will have horrible eventual side effects. What an ugly sin to say "I've always hated my brown eyes." Most people who wear blue contacts who have natural brown eyes look odd. Not because the contact doesn't look natural, but because a persons eye color always looks best for their own coloring in the first place.

This has little to do with jealousy. It's more about risks and ethics. Sure his eyes may look good but the point is will they still function correctly 5 or 10 years from now. Eyes are typically one of the first things to go with age and with this technology being so premature, it's foolish to jeopardize your vision for the sake of vanity. Ethically, this procedure is right up there with skin bleaching. It's upsetting that someone could dislike something about themselves so much.
