Russians did not failed, the strategy was very good and such thing never tested on such large scale. If there was a failure it was that the troops were not briefed how to position the hostages, and were not given antidotes to administer themselves and not wait for the medics.
Still I think that the overall result was pretty good in such situation. It may have been better and mistakes were made, but most of the objectives were met successfully.

FSB was tasked to kill,and rescue, doctors were to make sure the hostages are healthy(so, its not their fault). I dont know where you got that excuse on "not enough doctors" but they didnt know that the poisoned hostages had to have a proper breathing posture, most medical teams made them lie down, causing them to suffocate...

Russia has not only fooled a large number of the people making comments but also the doco makers. Alot of very important facts were left out that show that Russian government and special forces werent just incompetent as usual but showed a total disregard for the lives of the hostages. As in the cases of the FSB blowing up buildings in Moscow this was just another golden opportunity for the Government to bolster its support for the war in Chechnya.

Russia has not only fooled a large number of the people making comments but also the doco makers. Alot of very important facts were left out that show that Russian government and special forces werent just incompetent as ussual but showed a total disregard for the lives of the hostages. As in the cases of the FSB blowing up buildings in Moscow this was just another golden opportunity for the Government to bolster its support for the war in Chechnya.

Americans are the masters of friendly fire. In some months there are more allied soldiers killed in Iraq by friendly fire, than by enemy fire - how about that for a failure. How the F a US soldier can not distinct an AK fire from a SA80 and shoot the poor Brit that is on his side ?!?

Russians did not failed, the strategy was very good and such thing never tested on such large scale. If there was a failure it was that the troops were not briefed how to position the hostages, and were not given antidotes to administer themselves and not wait for the medics.
Still I think that the overall result was pretty good in such situation. It may have been better and mistakes were made, but most of the objectives were met successfully.
