Xcyper33, there are more hip hop heads than you are aware of that share my opinion. We could be in the minority, but its still a big number. I don't have to tell you that the Mafioso (Scarface, Godfather) theme prevalent in RD was successfully used and recycled years before 1996 by artists who could rival Jay-Z lyrically. IMO, Jay-Z just jumped on the band wagon. But he did it in phenomenal fashion and with more than phenomenal help from the producers. Thanks for commenting.
