i sort of doubt that, as the plastic used in pens are very flexible. but if you don't feel safe, drain the ink by blowing in it.

tie a small knot on the end of the string, just like the first knot of a shoelace, but don't pull it all the way through. position it at the end u wanna tie then pull, hope this works (:

hah! i used to make a similar device in gradeschool. using a bic or similar pen, remove the ink and the big plastic surrounding it and the backing of the tube, then just tape a rubber band on there somewhere up near the front of the tube. then you pretty much pull back and launch them out like a blowgun sorta. was hilarious getting them stuck on the ceiling and launching it outside. they went REALLY high :]
