  • This is awesome

  • wish i was there, love love love.

  • I wish I was there :(

  • since when does nationality have anything to do with music?????? its the best xmas song ever written and should be enjoyed my people of all nations!!! good on yer, coldplay

  • I always had Coldplay figured for a shower of shite, but fair play to them.

  • Whos the nancy cunt trying to cram his way onto the mic?

  • @Dempsey2626 you mean chris martin the lead singer of coldplay

  • @stureyorigional lol,funny as f$#k !!

  • @Dempsey2626 he wasn't trying to cram his way onto the mic your moron, he was playing the harmonica and he needed it to be amplified by the mic so people could hear it, jesus.

  • I still think Coldplay is for homos. But they did an alright job here.

  • @Dempsey2626 YOU CUNT!

  • you had amazing seats!!

  • ... Coldplay has an AWESOME crowd!

  • Good on ye Coldplay!!

  • It only sounds Irish because they used Irish instruments, the band was formed in London, England and Shane was born in Pembury, England! :):)

  • @blue200tdi well they are an IRISH rock band... so yeeaaahh...

  • @CrazyKid2K9 rockband? irish elavatormusic band! coldshit, the worst band ever!

  • @MrZwiebelbolte "You scumbag, you maggot

You cheap lousy faggot"..., yep, that part was about you bro! :)

  • The drummer Will Champion said one of his biggest inspirations was none other than Christy Moore! His mother brought him to one of his gigs when he was younger. So he has a big interest in Irish traditional folk music. That's probably why he's singing it. Christ Martin also said though that he thinks Fairytale of New York is the one Christmas song he would like to have written!!...feck it, I'm proud to be Irish. FairPlay Shane McGowan and the Pogues on writing the best Christmas song around!

  • you cant here coldplay all you can here is the audience

  • i know its meant to be an irish song but im english and my christmas would never be complete without listening to it every year, fucking amazing song

  • Pure class!

  • TOI te TOI te TOI Top of tha morning to ya fella

  • great band great song great country !!

  • For a few days I've been thinking how awesome it'd be if Coldplay did a cover of Fairytale of New York... then I stumble across this video :)

    Colour me happy! Merry Christmas!

  • the crowd sound awesome!

  • <3 It soo muck thnnx 4 puutin up!! :)

  • Like if your watching this is 2011 :)

  • thats great buisness :D I love it

  • They would be nothing without that crowd, they are carrying the voice and music...

If anyone should have a cheers, it's them.

  • brilliant, coldplay live is totally mint!!!!

  • Best feel good video EVER!

  • I don't like Coldplay much but this is awesome.

  • @2:38 great photo

  • 34 people are Grinches

  • @loveja1234 and I'm sure the Pogues appreciate your comment. now why dont you go spread your pointless negativity somewhere else?

I dont get those ppl that constantly complain about "hater" comments. Some critiques are valid. But god, they're just singing it in honor of the original. It's not a single they released for money or something. The audience loved it.

  • @loveja1234 please direct your very basic self four comments down :)

  • Am I the only one that noticed the orb on the right side of the video box?

  • I'm sorry but, Ya can't beat an Irish Christmas.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS xD

  • I can't believe I'm reading all these negative comments. Then again, YouTube never has been a gathering point for the intellectual.

This is fantastic. It's a an arse load of people singing along to the greatest Christmas tune ever made, how can this not warm your heart? You clearly don't deserve to listen to this song if you can't appreciate it because the title has "Coldplay" in it. Morons.

  • Awesome stuff!!!

  • this overrated u2 coverband just got a bit cooler.

  • No one says they do it better than the pogues, but it's a great song whoever sings it.

  • Not drunk enough nor Irish enough.

  • Don't say "they don't do it like the pogues" or something... They were doing this for fun, cause they were in Dublin and that's a great tribute for Irish people !

  • @TheGloriousMuse Yep. I'd love to hate this, but it's sweet and fun.

  • Killed it

  • Chris Martin is a complete knob.

  • Greats covering greats

  • walking in the footsteps of a giant.

    Hail Sean

  • lol.. its not Coldplay covering the song.. it's the audience covering the song... U can barely hear the band cos the crowd is loving it and singing along.. So it's not really right to say the Pouges were better as compared to Coldplay.

  • @ayyo89 i'll say it w/o blinking an eye: the pogues were better as compared to coldplay. if you listen to the youtube recordings of the pogues singing it, the audience participation is even wilder.

  • @frieda406 yes, i LOVE the Pogues..I'm not saying that Coldpay did it better than them. I'm just saying that in this vid, you can barely hear Chris Martin. So it's not right to compare them to the Pogues.. Maybe in a vid where we can hear them more clearly. But not here. Here it's all about the audience. :)

  • no matter how much you love a band and its work.... some of it should just be left to the pros..

  • Who are these shits? No way!

  • I was like right behind them :D

  • I wish I could have been part of the audience for this one! Shane should be really proud of how this great song has taken on a life of its own. It has its own playlist on lots of folks' channels, including mine. . . One of the best covers!

  • weak

  • Good, but not even nearly as good as my super hero Shane MacGowan. The best looking guy alive !!

  • fuck coldplay! onlt the pogues can do it right amirite!

  • 1. great that nearly anybody from the crowd can sing along the whole song with them

    2. seems any band connected to ireland in any way must try and cover this song nearly once in their career

  • Looks like fun. Plus this version way better than Billy Bragg and Florences version

  • I just got goosebumps at the bit where the crowd joined in at the chorus..wow! and its fitting that its in Ireland ofcourse! Merry Xmas!

  • class just class!!

  • The guy playing the harmonica makes it look like he was having a lot of fun as the crowd ~ i would have loved to been there!

  • Why do you have to compare it with the pogues, they made a modist cover of a beautiful song to entertain the Dublin audience :D

  • absoloootly SHITE

  • Don't ruin a great moment and a fine version by pointing at them with The Pogues.

Yes I think the Pogues does it better too, but this moment must have been f****** amazing. And I actually really does not like Coldplay.

  • It sounds like it was a magical live concert moment.

  • Brill song they did it justice its not an easy one to sing

  • Not even close to the original.

  • @jrothke It doesnt mean to be close to the original ;) It's just the song.

  • @jrothke I don't think it's meant to be.

  • just isnt the same without Kristy then again no one covering this song will ever do the song justice

  • Best christmas song ever!!

  • Nice tribute by another band to the Pogues n Kirsty, RIP!

  • Garbage.

  • Man I forgot how fucking dense most people are...it was a joke, can't believe that wasn't clear

  • Nobody quite like the pogues.

    R.I.P Kirsty

  • wish i was there

  • Damn, I was at that concert.

One of the best nights ever :]

  • Great crowd

  • Dislike 1000 times! :o

  • sacrilegious

  • this is my fav christmas song ever. And i just love love love when the whole crowd sings along! i don't know why but it makes me want to cry , in a happy way :) haha

  • we just need the whole god damn world to come together and sing this :D

  • they should have sang come out ye black and tans:D

  • @Abaft Great idea, my favorite rebel song.

  • Decent cover of the best song ever written.

  • What a disgrace to the song! F,U and your POp.... Who's he praying too? Tools

  • AAAAHHHHH shut up u darkisstormy u ass hole. we all know that the Pogues are the best at this. its there fuckin song. they done it cause they where playin here and wanted to have the crack with it. and there also a world class band who have sold millions of albums around the world. hate ass holes like you. U DICKHEAD!

  • Any band on earth should be able to do that song in any venue on earth and have the entire crowd singing along the way they are singing in this video.

  • I've never really listened to Coldplay, but I would have loved to have been there to see this.

  • Coldplay Rock XD

  • was there that night, absolute class, fantastic performers.

  • looked fun

  • fuck Coldplay. This is a Pogues song, and this horrible band disgraces it

  • @ThisOneKyle i couldnt agree more

  • Nobody sing like good ol Shane but at least its a nice tribute to the greatest band in the world The Pogues!

  • little known fact, coldplay wrote this song, the pogues covered them

  • @bananagrabber32

    thats just soooo wrong

  • Comment removed

  • @bananagrabber32 probably not - written in 1987 by kirsty and the pogues.

  • @bananagrabber32 that is possibly the most retarded thing ive ever hear anyone say

  • hello Johnlennonnumberone, I'm sarcasm, nice to meet you too

  • @bananagrabber32 Idiot.

  • Amy sang this song better....

  • Pogue Ma Hone. Coldplay should be beaten to a bloody pulp for this

  • will champion sang!

    awhhh!

    sweet(:

    pogues are amazing.

  • Awesome, it was actually the audience who sang the song.

  • Fuck Coldplay! Pouges all the way!

  • screw coldplay it will always be the pouges song.

  • Think the crowd win for their performance

  • why do people hate coldplay so much? for christ sake, if you dont like them, dont listen to them!

  • Chris Martin and Shane MacGowen, two very different people

  • @oneilexpress

    different dentist at least

  • and also they are wankers

  • Nobody does it like the pogues... FACT nuff said

  • @darkisstormy agreed

  • @darkisstormy Yes, BUT NOT with Coldplay :|

  • @darkisstormy Yer right mate but id of still liked to be there! I do'nt even like coldplay but that looks like fun :-).Merry xmas

  • Fuck Coldplay. They don't deserve to perform this song. Fucking wankers!

  • "They don't deserve to perform this song."

If you don't like Coldplay then why watch them?

As to being "wankers", they are millionaires, I doubt you are.

    So who's the wanker?

  • I didn't watch it. I stopped 10 seconds in.

And, what? Being rich excludes them from being wankers? More like it gives them a right to be spoiled assholes and crank out shitty music. Also, you are right. I'm not a millionare. I'm just a regular jerk-off. Good call on your part, captain obvious.

  • Fact: They don't deserve to perform this song because they could never do it justice

And the 'millionare' comment is the most stupid statement I have ever read

  • "They don't do it justice" is just your opinion and since when did your opinion negate all others?

If the "millionaire" comment is "the most stupid statement you have ever read" then may I suggest you get out more and join a library.

Open your mind, you never know what refreshing thoughts might enter in.

  • Comment removed

  • @Pigdowndog Why does them being millionaires mean anything? Osama Bin Laden is rich as fuck, as is George Bush, Mugabe and worst of all Cowell and Noel Edmonds.

Don't think they'll be forming a fucking supergroup though.

  • It doesn't mean anything but I was making a point to a previous comment by someone who was being unneccessarily abusive about Coldplay but chose to click on the video at at the same time saying they were "wankers". If you don't like something then why watch it?

Do try to expand your vocabulary with words that are not so profane. It's very juvenile.

  • @Pigdowndog I should expand my vocabulary by using less words?

    Expand

    1. To increase the size, volume, quantity, or scope of; enlarge.

And what poiont were you making? That millionaires don't masterbate? No matter how abusive he was being their money doesn't come into, either in terms of musical ability or personality. It's a total non-point, and one which seems to give the impression that richness is proof of something in and of itself.

  • "@Pigdowndog I should expand my vocabulary by using less words?"

That should be "fewer" not "less".

If you read my comment correctly I said expand your vocabulary with words other than profanities.

Yes, millionaires do "masturbate" but probably don't "masterbate".

I said my point, not "poiont" was just to let the commentator of the video know he was being ridiculous as proof of Coldplay's success was their status as millionaires. Richness in itself as you say means nothing.

  • @Pigdowndog Yeah sorry I didn't proof read my comments, I really should take more time over this, it is quite a big deal. And rich might equal sucess bu that doesn't always equal not wankers.

  • @panteraboy123

Quite right but if becoming rich depends on me becoming an enthusiastic onanist then I might indulge in that solitary pursuit with more vigour.

  • @Pigdowndog Not so much money in that though is there?

  • but if they did : ), and they would be called the sugar-babes : )

  • "I didn't watch it."

The video is clearly marked "Coldplay" and you chose to click on it.

Just because you don't like them, or so you say, doesn't exclude millions of others from enjoying their music so stop making childish remarks.

    Sincerely. Captain Obvious.

  • Some1 who react like this, doesnt deserve it to comment!

Btw, why do you hate them?

  • Not the biggest Coldplay fan. Actually I would say I'm indifferent. But this looked like a lot of fun. Greatest Christmas song ever!

  • Every time I hear this I well-up.

    I blew it.

  • was no where good as the pogues but it looks like it was gr8 fun to sing if u where in the audience and thats what concerts are about having a good laugh agree bad cover though better then what i could ddo though

  • @mabbutt82

Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean you have to call them faggots. Learn some better language and then learn that Coldplay are a good band and all bands can't make the most amazing covers when live. So give them some credit. -_-

  • Damn, another discusting comment. Why all that hate, people?

  • fair play to them great cover, fantastic live act

  • @MNJOD, that was the most sensible comment on the video, it's just a shame that a load of Coldplay faggots prevented me from giving you a thumbs up.

  • Coldplay backing the punters

  • Brings tears to my eyes- truly brilliant

  • Fucking Coldplay. They should be flogged for covering this. Douchewads!

  • indeed

  • I have to admit that was funny.

  • fäärjestad

  • I was at the other side of the O2 wen dey played dis!! :) Probubly the best song of the night but 'The Hardest Part' was unreal too!

  • my wee cousin was born on the 21 of december 2008 :)

  • Best performers EVER.

They put on truly amazing performances. All the songs they play live are amazing, no doubt. You can't get much better than Coldplay, nowadays.

  • wow amazing song.. nearly as good as shane himself

  • So WTF if he is?

  • isn't he married? to a woman? Gwyneth Paltrow?

  • Ahh - How amazing!!

I'd love to have been there.

  • Will is so great

  • Great video and sound quality, wonder what phone was used. ;)

  • right beside dem

  • It's my opinion that playing a song at a concert isn't covering it...

  • My Sister was Beside Them there!

    :D

  • tat was bril i rite becide them tere

  • I LOVE CHRIS!
