i dont understand. i dont even have any expectations from this game anymore. i have ALWAYS loved devil may cry series. devil may cry 1 was the BEST. it had the environment and everything.part 1 of devil may cry ALWAYS kept you on the edge of your seat and Drew Coombs is the best dante ever (i have nothing against reuben langdon my brothers). its just that i feel were going to lose another good video game series :-(. i have no expectations from this now
I think this is going to be the first dmc game that i rent instead of buy. I wouldn't show this much gameplay if this wasn't what i was releasing. I expect to see nothing new except weapons and demons. They should scrap this game and start over...i'll wait.

After the first 150 games youve played you start being able to recognize crap when you see it, even if its still in "Development". 2012 Is right around the corner, and this game is going to be almost exactly as you see it now, thats what your going to get, you will have to deal with it because they have already stated these core elements are staying, final.

Also, a problem with Ninja Theory is that they do not focus on the development itself as they should, they leave behind mistakes often. I cant even begin to tell you how bad they messed up on Other M. You couldnt even view the credits because the GAME WOULD CRASH. WOW, If they cant even get a simple coding down for that, I REALLY CANNOT TRUST the development of ANY ninja theory game. They always repeat their mistakes, always.
Dante is a Half Demon :) When he has young he don`t have the full half demon powers.... when he grow up he become a demon.. Black Hair is the human form and the white hair is the demon form :) When Dante become an adult he`s demon`s power appear and he`s hair become white ....In DMC 3 Dante is 19 age :) is over 18 . So he is no longer a child . That`s my theory :))
@viridxer It may lag much more than God of War, and to be honest, I've never had a lag on God of war. Graphics were awesome for that game. Also, lets not forget how the impossible "60fps" feel will damage this game over all in general. Its the only reason the combat is so slow, because it cannot handle what DMC has been able to do on previous developments. But if they want to rival in graphics, just think of how short this game will end up being because of the memory. It needs combat, less looks
@viridxer Its just, play some of the games using the Unreal Engine.. Infact heres a tip. If you are curious to see what an engine is capable of and you dont like the "cryptic language" developers will use when explaining it, just rent or buy a game using that engine, after a few games you will see what a game using that engine will be capable of. Its that simple. Dont let anyone else tell you other wise until you try out previous titles utilizing that engine. After practice, you will understand.
@DarkCrescendo You are 100% on the dot. I complained about the weak structure of this game, but all I got from the "new" fans were, its still in development, yatta yatta yatta. Ive been around for all the game systems so far, and all i have to say is I can tell when a game sucks, and when it doesnt, just by looking at the trailer. This game may be in development, but it has core issues with the combat, and guess what ninja fans, Ninja theory has stated that these core elements will be staying.

For the most part it seems they are trying to stick to the high-style action that made DMC so popular.
I just hate how NT is trying to make his weapon multi-functional like their critically acclaimed failure (not that it was a bad game but because it didn't sell well) Heavenly Sword.
Again, Dante didn't need Rebellion to morph - he used it like a fucking champ.
This game looks good. even though I was mad at Dante's redesign. Since it's a prequel, I think they should have the old Dante narrating the story. I'm not gonna make a big deal about it but that hair is still problematic. I won't have a problem if they say that's not his natural hair color. It probably isn't b/c Vergil has white hair and he's Dante's twin brother.
@DarkCrescendo Dante was never half angel and he's not in this game. They've stated specifically he is Dante but younger. Therefore, his mother was human (a priestess) and his father was Sparda, one of Mundus' highest ranked Devils and a creation by him.

The most recent interview outlined some of Dante's backstory and personality, all of which are massive deviations.

B/c of stuff, like the quote I posted on my last response, I've always believed this game is just a prequel explaining how Dante became what we've known him to be. I guess we have to wait for the game's release or for Capcom/NT to clarify things.

I hate this character redesign. It's terrible. The fact that they've scrapped one of his most distinctive features (his white hair of course), is really not even the biggest problem. The problem is that the design they've gone for just looks completely shit in its own right. He looks like a dirty, skinny homeless kid. I don't want to play as a damn hobo! Give Dante a redesign if you must, but give him a GOOD redesign!

I can't believe that people hate this so much. If course, I was stunned at first when I saw that they decided to go with a completely different look, but they seem to be doing a great job with gameplay. I will definitely be buying this game. Whoa.....y'know, after seeing the intense looking gameplay going into the game, I'm perfectly OK with this reboot now. Sure, Dante has black hair, but y'know what? It doesn't matter. The intense gunplay and the shapeshifting Rebellion, from the sword to the scythe to the whip to what I thought was a chainsaw, that was already enough to drag me in.

For those of you going on & on about how the gameplay looks/is slower, you're missing the point and that is this is a reboot that tells his origin so this is a younger Dante and with him being younger then he was in DMC3 I'd imagine that his skill wouldn't be as refine as the previous games you guys really need to think about that.. Well that being how it is now the story intrigues me now more than ever I was never a big fan of the storytelling technique of the previous titles, but one thing Ninja Theory is strong is stroytellin so now instead of just having awesome gameplay with a sub-par plot we may now possibly have a good/great story mixed with great gameplay.

@canislupus009 Well the developers said themselves that this is Dante b4 he became the Dante that was in DMC3, and we know that only some his power was awakened b4 he got his Devil form in DMC3 so the only logical explanation for this is that with him being younger in this game he is less powerful & now instead of his DT being an actual Devil form it's in the form of his White/Platinum hair which signifies the powers he had in the very begining of DMC3.
So...we are suppose to accept that Dante is now suddenly half demon/half angel, Rebellion spontaneously gained the ability to shapeshift, Dante was basically born with Ebony and Ivory (he is supposed to be around 16 in this trailer...so...), his backstory is completely different, his personality is completely different, he is suddenly british (i.e. the Union Jack), etc? Nope, not buying it, Capcom.
Well if you've already made your mind up that your not buying then that's the same as saying you're not interested and if you're not interested then there is no longer a point of you watching anymore trailers, or reading up on anymore articles or following the progress of the game because of that would defeat the purpose of not being interest in because that would be a waste of your precious time donn't you think?
@lataureanezell I was holding on to a glimmer of hope that I would be proven wrong and that Ninja Theory would pull this debacle off...unfortunately, that didn't happen. Half angel/half demon, split personality, changed personality, completely changed Rebellion, and the potential for other characters to recieve the same treatment. Yeah, I'm done...and apparently, so are many other fans as the dislike bars across youtube are no better than the last video. Enjoy your reboot.

NT has not stuck to their guns AT ALL, that much is clear. Compare the first trailer to this...they are nothing alike...

Slow. This is too slow. This doesn't compare to the other DMC games. Forgot how he looks (tho yes, he looks like the art director on crack). The game play alone is horrible, being barely 30 fps. But they screwed up the story now making him half angel too. Just give it another name and then ppls will by the game. I read that this game's combat is going to be techincal like the other DMC's, and its got 3 fighting styles : Angel=Sytche, Human=Sword and Guns, and Demon=Axe. And last, its going to have rankings when you beat a level. Give this a chance, man. Everybody deserves a chance before judging. Even you.

@KawaiiDesuNekoBCSK And also, the 3 styles have their own special effect in this game. The Human style is the swords and guns we know Devil May Cry for. The Angel style is more aerial focused and it is with dashing moves from the trickster style. And the Demon style is more of a heavy-ground type fighting style with a chain he pulls enemies with. He even uses the chain for non-combat driven stuff, like swinging through the city. This is why you should play the game first before you judge it.

Also, a problem with Ninja Theory is that they do not focus on the development itself as they should, they leave behind mistakes often. I cant even begin to tell you how bad they messed up on Other M. You couldnt even view the credits because the GAME WOULD CRASH. WOW, If they cant even get a simple coding down for that, I REALLY CANNOT TRUST the development of ANY ninja theory game. They always repeat their mistakes, always.

Dante is a Half Demon :) When he has young he don`t have the full half demon powers.... when he grow up he become a demon.. Black Hair is the human form and the white hair is the demon form :) When Dante become an adult he`s demon`s power appear and he`s hair become white ....In DMC 3 Dante is 19 age :) is over 18 . So he is no longer a child . That`s my theory :))

@viridxer It may lag much more than God of War, and to be honest, I've never had a lag on God of war. Graphics were awesome for that game. Also, lets not forget how the impossible "60fps" feel will damage this game over all in general. Its the only reason the combat is so slow, because it cannot handle what DMC has been able to do on previous developments. But if they want to rival in graphics, just think of how short this game will end up being because of the memory. It needs combat, less looks

@viridxer Its just, play some of the games using the Unreal Engine.. Infact heres a tip. If you are curious to see what an engine is capable of and you dont like the "cryptic language" developers will use when explaining it, just rent or buy a game using that engine, after a few games you will see what a game using that engine will be capable of. Its that simple. Dont let anyone else tell you other wise until you try out previous titles utilizing that engine. After practice, you will understand.

Ive been around for all the game systems so far, and all i have to say is I can tell when a game sucks, and when it doesnt, just by looking at the trailer. This game may be in development, but it has core issues with the combat, and guess what ninja fans, Ninja theory has stated that these core elements will be staying.

For the most part it seems they are trying to stick to the high-style action that made DMC so popular.
I just hate how NT is trying to make his weapon multi-functional like their critically acclaimed failure (not that it was a bad game but because it didn't sell well) Heavenly Sword.
Again, Dante didn't need Rebellion to morph - he used it like a fucking champ.

This game looks good. even though I was mad at Dante's redesign. Since it's a prequel, I think they should have the old Dante narrating the story. I'm not gonna make a big deal about it but that hair is still problematic. I won't have a problem if they say that's not his natural hair color. It probably isn't b/c Vergil has white hair and he's Dante's twin brother.

@Sup750 Watch the live interview and read the most recent interview. Svensson refered to the game as a "rebirth" of the franchise and said that we shouldn't use the previous installments as a base. The most recent interview outlined some of Dante's backstory and personality, all of which are massive deviations.

B/c of stuff, like the quote I posted on my last response, I've always believed this game is just a prequel explaining how Dante became what we've known him to be. I guess we have to wait for the game's release or for Capcom/NT to clarify things.

I hate this character redesign. It's terrible. The fact that they've scrapped one of his most distinctive features (his white hair of course), is really not even the biggest problem. The problem is that the design they've gone for just looks completely shit in its own right. He looks like a dirty, skinny homeless kid. I don't want to play as a damn hobo! Give Dante a redesign if you must, but give him a GOOD redesign!

sure game play is pretty good... But you know what, a video game is very well know for there characters, and music.
1) music not the same that made Dmc memorable
2) main character, just looks like any other guy with a long coat.

I can't believe that people hate this so much. If course, I was stunned at first when I saw that they decided to go with a completely different look, but they seem to be doing a great job with gameplay. I will definitely be buying this game. You can already tell that the combat is going to be fantastic, and I'm sure that they will do a great job with the story as well. I mean, how luckier can they get? They get to work with Dante's unexplored past? Awesome.

Whoa.....y'know, after seeing the intense looking gameplay going into the game, I'm perfectly OK with this reboot now. Sure, Dante has black hair, but y'know what? It doesn't matter. The intense gunplay and the shapeshifting Rebellion, from the sword to the scythe to the whip to what I thought was a chainsaw, that was already enough to drag me in.
NOW. From the enhanced aerial combat and the better chaining of combos, I scream out "FUCK YES." When is this game dropping in North America?! O_O

For those of you going on & on about how the gameplay looks/is slower, you're missing the point and that is this is a reboot that tells his origin so this is a younger Dante and with him being younger then he was in DMC3 I'd imagine that his skill wouldn't be as refine as the previous games you guys really need to think about that.. The game looks good so far I'm just waiting on more details of what the story is gonna be like.

Well that being how it is now the story intrigues me now more than ever I was never a big fan of the storytelling technique of the previous titles, but one thing Ninja Theory is strong is stroytellin so now instead of just having awesome gameplay with a sub-par plot we may now possibly have a good/great story mixed with great gameplay.

@canislupus009 Well the developers said themselves that this is Dante b4 he became the Dante that was in DMC3, and we know that only some his power was awakened b4 he got his Devil form in DMC3 so the only logical explanation for this is that with him being younger in this game he is less powerful & now instead of his DT being an actual Devil form it's in the form of his White/Platinum hair which signifies the powers he had in the very begining of DMC3.
It's just my guess really.

So...we are suppose to accept that Dante is now suddenly half demon/half angel, Rebellion spontaneously gained the ability to shapeshift, Dante was basically born with Ebony and Ivory (he is supposed to be around 16 in this trailer...so...), his backstory is completely different, his personality is completely different, he is suddenly british (i.e. the Union Jack), etc? @DarkCrescendo ...absolutely nothing different, yet claims originality. The environments have already been shown by several people to be extremely reminiscent of DMC 2, the single enemy in this trailer is a rejected enemy from the Devil May Cry 4 concepts art book, the weapons are basically the same, the moves and animations are basically the same...I could go on. NT has not stuck to their guns AT ALL, that much is clear. Compare the first trailer to this...they are nothing alike...

@DarkCrescendo The point of reboot is to change the the look while keeping the essence of it predecessors, so you point is a moot one at best. All those things you named is what made the old DMC games good in the 1st place so they kept what made those games good and build up on that. you should probably swing over to gamespot they did an interview explaining some things, that help you have a better outlook on what's going on somewhat.

Having a dark atmosphere does not have to mean using dark gritty colors and enclosed corridors all the damn time like the old DMC games so you're wrong there. You're basically mad that you're not gonna be able to play the same game you've played 4times already. I respect your opinion nonetheless.

The atmosphere is anything but dark and brutal due to how much like a five year olds coloring book this is, how laughably designed the SINGLE enemy we have been shown three times is, and just how bright the overall environment is. Yes, there are ways to have a dark and brutal atmosphere without it being like DMC, but this isn't one of them. Seeing a 14/15 year old killing "demons" to british punk is just plain funny...

Slow. This is too slow. This doesn't compare to the other DMC games. Forgot how he looks (tho yes, he looks like the art director on crack). I'm sick off people who don't have the same feelings for the games as the fans who have been with this game since 2001. It's not just about the looks. The game play alone is horrible, being barely 30 fps. But they screwed up the story now making him half angel too. Just give it another name and then ppls will by the game. But call it DMC & u have a riot.

I read that this game's combat is going to be techincal like the other DMC's, and its got 3 fighting styles : Angel=Sytche, Human=Sword and Guns, and Demon=Axe. And last, its going to have rankings when you beat a level. Give this a chance, man. Everybody deserves a chance before judging. Even you.

@KawaiiDesuNekoBCSK And also, the 3 styles have their own special effect in this game. The Human style is the swords and guns we know Devil May Cry for. The Angel style is more aerial focused and it is with dashing moves from the trickster style. And the Demon style is more of a heavy-ground type fighting style with a chain he pulls enemies with. He even uses the chain for non-combat driven stuff, like swinging through the city. This is why you should play the game first before you judge it.
