  • proper railwaymen,

  • well, with all that jointed rail, it's only a matter of time.

  • Ah the Guayaquil and Quito Railway - that brings back memories

  • Why don't try replace by railtrack with new ones for safety after use. What that not disposed to use operating rail services to continue on rail. This is will could killed that train services! That will be affecting railway is something going wrong!!!

  • OH BOB SAGET!!!

  • If this was UK they would have the line closed for about a week while they all talk about what happened!! The Devils Nose Railway is one of the best adventures left on this planet. When the train comes off the track it only ads to the adventure. Great stuff.

  • That was an impressive job of rerailing that locomotive.

  • Why do I recall seeing this in a National Geographic tape?

  • Great improvisation....

  • dont someone has a pump jack with them on board?

  • They have no money for the tracks repair!I'm sorry((

  • light rail, bad ties. Bad tie's= wide gage derailment.

  • lol r they pulling ppl in gondolas and boxcars..lol

  • correction.....ON boxcars hahaha

  • unbelievable...they have to have had these cases alot! Really nice done! =D

  • I thought id never see any thing like this! now I have!

  • The passengers have to help mend the rails? haha!!!

  • No, dope.

But I would have had a ball trying my hand at pounding spikes and rerailing the locomotive.

  • Is the track just sitting on the ground?

  • its mexico what did u expect

  • No, it's Ecuador silly.

  • It looks as if the track problems were because the line is very prone to damage from landslips.

There are other videos here with what seems to be a city bus mounted on locomotive trucks.

That would get through fine, but the heavy axle weight of a proper locomotive - too much.

They are obviously careful and keep speed down.

  • It seems like they just don't have any income, apart from tourists, so no money for much track maintenance at all.

A tourist operation says of the line: "Maintainance is less than fair and the train may not be operational".

  • What a Rube Goldberg operation!

  • Good repair.

    Professional driver.

  • "...there was a work crew already there, waiting for it to derail." ha ha, they must haven wanted something to do that day, re-rail a de-railed train.

  • lmao

  • What was the cause of the derailment?

  • the tracks had spread too far apart.

  • That made your trip even more interesting!

I'd love to see what happened, how it happened and how they rerailed.

    What gauge?

Bad ties allowed the rails to spread?

    Thanks, Craig

  • Good job!

  • Nice work.

  • I see many people why not help that guys to repair it ?

  • Repairing rails and putting a train back on the tracks takes people who know what they are doing. It's not like pushing a car out of the mud. Nothing a bunch of tourists could do, really. Besides, there was a work crew already there, waiting for it to derail.

  • Amazing good video.

  • mohammed and mountian ring a bell

  • amazing stuff

  • Impressive.

  • AMTRACK COULD USE A FEW GOOD MEN!

  • wow. That's hardcore doing that with a few shovels.

  • "Oh crap, derailed again, lets go boys, you know what to do."

    Where was this?

  • It was a couple miles above Alausí.
