You realize when you say "Am I the only one...?", you know someone's going to come along and say "No, I do too".

Well, in this case, that would be me. Personally, I'd like to see a Demon's Crest version of Firebrand in a fighting game. Each of the elemental transformations with its own mode (like Phoenix Wright) and movesets with the Level 1 being Time transformation, the Level 3 being the Heaven transformation and each elemental getting a Level 1 attack of some sort.

I didn't know that Firebrand had his own games before Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. It's good, though. He'll get some more time in the spotlight and he'll be known for being in good games rather than being a frustrating enemy in Ghosts 'n Goblins.

And for that matter, how would they implement moves? This is what Capcom's known for when creating characters in the MvC worlds - they'd need enough material and such, though, to be able to do this.

To be honest my theory as why Mega Man X can't get in is because he would become a Dante-like character and his standard moves would be those specials instead...

@meeplem - To continue on to that previous comment, his Hypers would probably be fairly easy to make but for his most well-known item, the X-Buster, if those were his normals then he'd actually be an Arthur-type character.

Of course I'm not saying that he shouldn't be in there for these reasons, I mean they made Servbot, Volnutt/Trigger and the original Mega Man into playable Capcom vs Whatever (thank TV Tropes for that name) characters with moves out of their origins. (cont. on next comment)

@meeplem - The only real reason that Zero is chosen outside of X is that he's the type of character who can actually do Melee combat in the Mega Man universe WITHOUT special powerups, and even then powers are extensions of his sword techniques (for the most part?) and is therefore more versatile (he has a lot of experience with the Z-Saber, after all). Also, X can't use the Z-Saber he got from Zero after MMX5 because Zero has it in his VS appearances (the liquid-like one instead of solid)
