I read Watership Down, and I got to say, I'm a little freaked out to watch this movie. Watership Down was one of the creepiest books I've read, and I've read my share of creepy books. And the movie.... well, Watership Down was my favorite movie when I was little, because I liked rabbits. When I got older it gave me nightmares.

@awesomegirlO It's about these dogs named Rowf and Snitter that are put under these really cruel tests at an animal research facility. They escape and go through a lot of hard times. The people at the research facility lie and tell the authorities that the dogs may be carrying the bubonic plague. That gets the military involved in their capture. I don't want to tell the ending because I don't wanna spoil the movie or book for other people who want to read it and are reading the comments

The music goes well with this movie. A perfect description. I loved the scenes you chose. I for some reason cant seem to get into the book. :C I own a hardcover original and I've attempted to read it a thousand times, but I cant seem to get past chapter 4 very sad indeed.

The movie is called "The Plague Dogs" and is based off of the book by the same name. Both the movie and book are very dark and mildly depressing; but great nonetheless.

Oh wow. Really good song choice and well-made video. This is such a powerful movie, and is still such a powerful topic of debate.

@hormoanz I especially like how the end of this video fits the song/the original story that the song was telling. How the Jews fled to the water and were saved by a miracle; but this story is more realistic and thus depressing, as no such miracle comes. It is very strong.

The only thing I might "recommend" is that during the first statement of "Let My People Go" there may have been a quick clip of some of the other research animals as well, like the frightened rabbits or the rats being injected,

@hormoanz ...which would imply that The People in need of being saved are all research animals. But as for following Rowf and Snitter's story, you did a wonderful job in picking choice clips and fitting them so well with the song/message. The more times I watch it the more I appreciate it.

@Dantaroen No. In the original novel, while they escape from the lab they pass through or near a bioweapons research room, don't remember which. A reporter gets wind of this, and spreads a rumor that the dogs are Bubonic Plague infested menaces. This rumor ends up getting so widely spread and believed-partly because of the dogs' behavior- that the government tries to hunt them down. The movie assumes you've read the book, so try to read it first.

this was a a great movie by the makers of Watership Down. Like Watership, it's a very dark and depressing animated film, with an ending that is both enlightening and sad. I know it's available on VHS, but I'm not sure if there is a DVD version available.

Spoiler! - Maybe. The movie has a "Thelma and Louise" kind of ending. But the book has a very postmodern ending. There, the narrator admits that it would be more realistic to let the dogs drown, but since his readers are begging him to save them, he has some real life environmentalist hero save them at the end.

@9er9er101 Good luck. I tried reading it. This is generally considered one of the rare cases where the movie is better than the book, and I found out why when I tried to read it. It is a very dense story, that at the same time goes pretty slowly. I had not gone far when I felt like the book could end in another ten pages, but it just kept going. When they made the film they were able to take out the filler without sacrificing plot or character development.

It really is sad, but you'll have to buy it off of ebay if you want it probably. Too dark for today's children so it isn't widely available. Check out Secret of Nimh, and Watership Down as well... Both AMAZING movies
