  • Funny how Ventura has never seen two guys try to exit at the same time when a couple of years earlier he did commentary on the Hogan vs Mr Wonderful cage match which had the same finish.

  • I'm surprised, with a combined weight of almost 700 lbs. & with the force they generated, the ring didn't implode.

  • You can see the Big Bossman blade his forehead at 5:11

  • great sells by the bossman getting hit with the chain too!

  • wow, great match, that suplex was siiiiick. two huge guys giving the crowd a helluva show...awesome.

  • Good match. Thanks for uploading.

  • "Look at the smilr on Hogan's face"

I used to think it was funny Jesse said that, considering Hogan was in no way smiling

  • I was grounded as well when this aired and I convinced My Mom to give me a pass on watching Saturday Nights Main Event. She watched it with me lol. But I forgot Hogan put on Slick's Kangol after the match Classic.

  • & bossman was a team memeber of hulk hogan at survivor series 1990 also ironic was 2 years earlier they were on opposing sides now team mates

  • this culminated the fued of the hogan/bossman legacy but 1 year later 1990 bossman turns face & months later replaces an injured tugboat to maintain order for his new friend hulk hogan & their battle against jimmy hart earthquake & dino bravo & 1991 & 1992 SNME battle royal hogan helped bossman for a while & MSG 1992 they were the final 4 against sid justice & the warlord bossman was the 18th man eliminated

  • Interesting matchup here

  • OMG WHAT A SUPLEX ! I NEVER SEEN THIS IN WWE PG ERA

  • That referee always gets in the way and gets knockdown!

  • That wasn't a superplex, that was a MEGAPLEX!

  • Hogan actually doing a significant wrestling move? I'm stunned

  • @swakachi : Then you'd better not ever watch any of his New Japan matches. You'll have a heart attack.

  • I remember this! They went to a commercial, maybe two, before Hogan and Bossman resumed wrestling.

  • It was that superplex that killed the Bossman.

  • @OldSchoolRasslin No, boss man wrestled lots of matches after this.

  • @Bertminator

It killed him the end though. It was just a delayed reaction.

  • @OldSchoolRasslin hmm...well it's news to me.. I didn't know that is what killed him

  • @Bertminator a heart attack about 2 decades later

  • @Bertminator Its true - it killed both the Boss Man & Miss Elizabeth...Strange but true.

  • @OldSchoolRasslin fail... The boss man died in 2004 from a heart attack...

  • That suplex is a perfect example of what Hogan was always capable of doing. The WWE always dumbed his abilities down for risk of hurting him. Watch some Hogan matches from Japan. Hogan could wrestle man.

  • @chrisschin2 haha that's funny. Bossman is the only reason this match is great

  • @chrisschin2 If I could thumbs-up that comment more than once, I would, man. That's what I always try to tell people about Hogan but it rarely goes over.

  • Hogan tried to get out the door. Clearly a sign that he would later be a heel.

  • hahaha I knew that was Jesse Ventura doing the color commentary before the other guy even said his name @2:09. It's hard to mistake that midwestern accent. He was my governor after all.

  • that was a extremely risky move................... Hogan wasn't a 23 year old kid and Boss man isn't a small man to be falling off the cage like that.

  • I like all the camera flashes when the superplex happens!

  • Fake or not, that had to hurt!

  • I'm confused. These two were fueding in '88. Hogan didn't have the title in '88 after losing it to Andre in February, and Savage won it at Wrestlemania IV. When was this?

  • @w6p7a I think this was in Summer 1989.

  • @nicklebackfan I think you're right. You know people always say Hogan was such a crappy wrestler, but he executed that suplex beautifully!

  • @w6p7a This was aired on Memorial Day weekend in '89.

  • @trekfanful makes sense. Hogan would have retained it by then from Savage in Wrestlemania V.

  • I remember going to the Dane County Coliseum in Madison to watch these two in a steel cage match and Hogan did the same suplex off the top of the cage to the Bossman.

  • that was a big move back in the day

  • I would have like to have heard the actual crowd reaction. Too bad McMahon (like KISS on their Alive albums) felt the need to use canned crowd noise over all the Saturday Night's Main Event matches. Sucks. I like the real deal, but I guess when your contract with NBC is on the line, you have to excise all potentially negative variables.

  • Des Moines, Iowa.

    I was there.

Remember: Smarks claim Hogan can't work.

This was a holy shit moment.

  • slick going for a ride haha!

  • NOBODY was more jealous then Jesse Ventura when it came to hogan

  • This is wrestling done right. Was it slow yes but it kept you on the edge of your seat. The wrestlers today should be taking notes from these videos.

  • best supersuplex ever !!! ^^

  • big boss man one stupid

  • Love Jesse the Body as an announcer "Aww isn't that cute" lol you can tell on air and in real life what Jesse thinks of Hogan!!!!

  • I was there......It was amazing...

  • I remember when this match came on. I was not allowed to watch wrestling for two weeks since I was grounded. But my dad lifted my punishment for a night so I could watch Saturday's Night Main Event. Little did he know I was watching wrestling behind his back. Ah, memories lol.

  • @acehighpat Lol....you bad boy! Haven't we ALL done that at one time or another. Ahhh...the good ol days.

  • @Bertminator You guys are lucky....I live in Norway + that I missed these nice days since I'm so young...And even if I was born earlier Norway dosen't have the kick ass tv shows and channels with this stuff

  • @acehighpat : Your punishment NOW would be to WATCH WWE nonstop for 2 weeks!!!! lol

I cant stand it anymore, hence why I watch the good old days lol

  • I love Jesse Ventura. 6:35

  • Would it really have been that bad if Bossman won the WWF title that night, then Hogan wins it back at the next PPV?

  • @rlouie05 Back then, though, the WWF wasn't producing PPV's every four or five weeks like they do now. There was Wrestlemania, Summerslam, the Royal Rumble, and the Survivor Series, and that was about it. Titles simply did not change hands as frequently, and title reigns were generally not meant to be as brief as they can be now.

  • Dude, this is almost exactly the same match as the Boston steel cage match! Watch the video and you'll see!

  • What power by the Hulkster. Still to this day that was a hell of a superplex

  • "Yeah and apparently the 24 inch pythons also need a night stick, don't they?"

I miss Jesse as a commentator.

  • Yeah even after 20 years I still remember that suplex as if it's fresh in my memory. Pretty impressive, thanks for posting this.

  • LOL at Slick's reation when Hogan suplex boss man!

  • the out comes are fake but geez that shit has to hurt you cant fake that lol

  • Literal LOL at the "Let's see that superplex two more times!" message. I remember this match as a kid and I freaked out at that superplex from the top of the cage. That was *hardcore* back in the day. LOL Thanks posting this video, it brought back memories.

  • It was my pleasure...glad you enjoyed it.

  • i when to c that match live it was so awesome ide lv wwf to return with all origanal wwf stars one last time

  • Unfortunately, lots of those start: Boss man, Mr. Perfect, Rick Rude, Andre the giant, blue blazer, and others have passed on already.

  • Let's refer the Blue Blazer to who he really is...Owen Hart!

Anyways, I miss this manly steel cage unlike the girly chicken wire "cage" we have nowadays!

  • My first cage match that I saw was Rowdy Roddy Piper VS Paul Orndorff back in late 1985 or early 1986 at the San Diego sports Arena.

  • Hulk Hogan is The Best :)

  • Great match. :D That was one hell of a suplex (Especially for it's time)

RIP Boss Man - thank you for the memories

  • to mr. bertminator thank you is not enough so say how happy i am to relive this match i watched it as a 12 year old with my sister and i had it taped as well till my vcr finally ate it after about 500 viewings that whole sat nights main event was awesome i believe that it also had the ultimate warrior vs andre the giant for the IC title as well to relive this match is just thrown me back about 17 years thank you thank you thank you

  • You're very welcome! I'm glad it brought you good memories.

  • This was a great story of a match.

  • Hulk Hogan makes Mick Foley look like a softie!

  • LOL

  • Wow, that suplex was so much bigger when I was a kid.

    Still awesome

  • good match.

  • that was GREAT!!! =)

  • 0:33 what a suplex. Wow. Boss Man was well north of 300 pounds and Hogan was over 300 as well. And that ring was before the spring loaded cushy rings they use now. That really was a helluva impact.

  • Hogan actually sold a move

  • you do realize that the huckster never sold a move correctly right?

  • Was this match on the newly released SNME DVD ?

  • I wouldn't know, I got this from the TV back in the mid-80's. Perhaps someone else would know.

  • It definitely is.

  • I loved this match back when I was a kid! Thanks for bringing it back into the light.

  • Boss Man was one of Hogan's better feuds from the 80's. Loved it when he and Akeem eliminated Hogan in the '89 Royal Rumble.

  • Mighty indeed.

( these were the good old days )

    " They were my heroes when I was a kid ! "

  • This is good stuff! Thanks for the upload!
