being different doesn't mean better.. various artists play it in different ways but pixies still own it in every aspect cuz thats the original and thats how it was meant to be..i can`t listen to this version of the song cuz i hate it, even tho she sings very nice the song is just not meant to be played like this.. some covers better the original, this one doesn't.

Was 'Where is' meant for piano? What a dumb comment! Francis wrote a song to be performed by the band The Pixies, and solo on guitar. Hoagy Carmichael wrote rocking chair for a piano or small combo. This doesn't mean that a different arrangement won't work as well or better.There are countless examples of latter, non-songwriter-arranged compositions having worked better than the original.

I prefer the original artists generally, but this is far away the most unique cover of this song on youtube

Ugh wasn't this just an amazing show? Really, Raine was so amazing I was tearing up when he played innocent and seeing Chantal was such a treat. She is just stunning and her voice is so pure and beautiful.

i saw her and raine maida live and she performed this song, and i had never heard the pixies version. once i downloaded the pixies version i was dissapointed, i just liked this version better. am i not allowed to like this version better or something?? lol

haha, I did the exact same thing, and I agree; I like Chantal's version a lot better! I think that I read somewhere that the covers of various artists for this song are typically better than the original lol

Nah, that's okay. I like the Gary Jules version of Mad World better than I do the Tears for Fears version, despite how I think originals are always better than successors. Its just choice.

But I agree with fredder to an extent, its a shame you didn't hear the Pixies. I don't think Where Is My Mind was meant for piano, not to this slow pacing. There was one Maxene Cyrine who did an alright one but still, it was better on guitar.

@adormady I find it to be an interesting phenomena. Often the first version of the song people hear, for the first time that is, is what they tend to prefer.

I heard The Pixies version first, and even though this artist performed it beautifully, I prefer The Pixies one. Other examples like Twist and Shout performed by The Beatles, or Knocking on Heaven's Door performed by Gun's & Roses, both songs were huge successes by their original writers, but those are the ones I heard first.

How is this better than the original? Wow she can play it on piano... who cares. I'm not saying she's a bad artist but she doesn't have the voice for this song she should stick to songs that suit her. This isn't an insult to her if anything it's because her voice is too good for the song.
