  • Great job, where did you get the plans from, was it from TY Dean ?

  • Kuffle Creek

  • Cat!

  • Your videos inspired me to build my own teardrop. It's an extremely simple version, but I'm having lots of fun with it! You also inspired me to make a video similar to yours.

  • Google "Teardrops and Tiny Travel Trailers". All your questions will be answered in the forum...

  • Awesome Vid and music. What about plans, blue prints and the like. I have a small trailer base that I would like to convert over to this. What about DMV regs and specs. Road legalities. Mouth is watering over the trailer and foot is tapping to the music. what do you do for a living? Classic example of human necessity birthing invention.

  • Excelent!!!

  • great job looks great

  • Fantastic. Kudos to you, sir.

  • how much would it cost to construct one ???

  • Depends on how nice you build it. You could build a bare bones model for $1,000.

  • @bdosborn You spent, what, with the solar panels, about $5k? $8k? Add some time in, and if you were paid by the hour, forget about it. But if you want something elegant like this, and knowing you built it yourself, it's worth it. However, I'm looking at something easy to start from, like bare-bare-bones model. Like if MacGuyver built something and only had a few hours. I've got plenty of equipment to start with, including a pop-up trailer that has been stripped, LED tails, marine battery, etc.

  • gday,,sorry it may have been talked about already,,but was just curious as to what width you made the camper,,here a standard sheet of ply is 2400x1200 (8x4ft)..

but all the vids i look at the trailers seem wider than that,,,great vid and great job on your camper,,credit to you.

  • The trailer is a 4'X8'. That was a bit too narrow for us so we sold it and built another trailer.

  • i like this video, i really like the idea of putting a collapsible table under the bed. Do u mind if i borrow that idea?

  • Why not, I did... ;-)

  • Great job, I want to build one myself! one question though- how much of a hassle is it to get one of these titled & licensed?

  • @connberkshire - depends on where you live. Not bad here....

  • @connberkshire What are those hinges for the back? They look like heavy duty cabinet slides?

  • I'm not sure which hinge your referring to. The hinge for the hatch is a hurricane hinge, the slides for the drawers are from Home Depot.

  • excellent!

  • great gob!!thanks for the good ideas.i'm going to make one for this summer, hopefully.the plywood that i can get here is 122cm x 244.what size is this one?

  • 122cmx244 or 4'X9'

  • Great job, What did you clad the outside with?

  • Filon

  • is this a kit, where do you buy them?

  • Not a kit, built from plans. Google Kuffle Creek for plans

  • that is sweet , good job not only on the trailer but on youre video too !

  • THIS IS AWESOME!

  • about how much would you say this weighed?

  • 1500# with all our stuff inside.

  • Wonderful work, great details all around, good job documenting it as well. The only thing I can't see is how you could bring yourselves to sell it? If I made something like that it would be in the family till I die. I like that you did not use plans. I think (if one is a good craftsman) plans are vastly overrated. People need to trust their creative instincts.

  • WOW I am impressed with your craftsmanship. I have seen many teardrops, and yours is built to very high standards.

The whole while watching your video I started off with the impression that it was an over build.. yes, but the overall product was VERY well worth the watch.

    Thanks for posting this.

  • how much did it cost in total??

  • Dunno, I didn't keep track.

  • Awesome man, i like your tiny trailer better since you made it with no plans. You could do this for a living!

  • hi i have the utility trailer and u just inspired me to build mine, a big thanks.great job..

  • can teardrops have aircons in them?

  • Sure, lots of them do.

  • @bdosborn Cool! thanks for the info, and nice teardrop :D

  • Awesome job Bruce. Did you have the whole package and you just assembled it or you designed yourself and bought piece by piece. where is the main store that you bought the pieces from?

how fast can you drive towing it and what is your car?

  • I worked from the Kuffle Creek plans.

I got most of the parts from eBay and HD.

I can pull it as fast as I want but I have a pretty big truck.

    Bruce

  • Great Job!!!!! Starting mine soon!

  • Good luck and post some pics....

  • how much did it cost in all?

  • I don't know, I didn't keep track. I didn't want to know how much I was spending ;-)

  • Thats a realy Nice Job Buddy. Ive been thinking about building one of these things myself.

  • very nice trailer. I'm gonna start mine soon. I like the L brackets on the spars, good idea. I have limited skills so I'll definately take my time on my build.

  • very nice job. I bet it was a blast to build. I want to build my own camper but I need something a little bit bigger :). Great video though I got some idea's from your video.

  • We needed a bigger trailer too. Check out "How I built our Tiny Travel Trailer"

  • Very nice!!

  • WOW!

  • congrats thats a beautiful teardrop me and my dad a going to start a project after christmas and could you tell me how long that took to build my youtube nam is adiopug thx

  • It took around 10 months to get it to a level we could use, then another 6 months of finish work.

  • also could you tell me where you got those plans and what material you used on the outside

  • I used the Kuffle Creek "Cubby" plans and the siding is called Filon...

  • @adiopug: I've heard of people finishing a tear drop in a month or less and as much as a year and a half. It really depends on your skill and the amount of time you can devote to the project. I'm contemplating building my own travel trailer (possibly a tear drop) but I have a lot of time to devote to it so I could likely have it ready for use in a month or two.

  • Yeah, lol, that's what I thought too, a couple of months tops...

  • Beau travaille, merci pour la vidéo.

  • That is really well done, and it looks like it has plenty of room for a couple.

  • Well, its only 4' wide and its too narrow for my wife and I. I would strongly recommend a 5' wide model if you're interested in getting one. I've built another trailer, I'll post another build video sometime.

  • Did you sell the 4' wide trailer?

  • Not yet, but my wife says two trailers is one to many.

  • Great looking! How long did it take to build?

  • it took 9 months to get to 90% done (and roadworthy). The last 10% took another year.

  • Wondering what you used to trim the edge where the walls meet the roof? That's metal trim? How was it bent? Looks great. Thanks!

    Rob

  • Very nice job on your trailer, it looks great !

    Take care,

    Bluefin

  • Awesome work! ....And the video is very proffesional and easily the most comprehensive that I've seen. CONGRATS! And HAPPY TRAILERING!!

  • IMPRESSIVE :)

    Most Excellent Craftsmanship :)

Where did you get your trailer from ?

  • Thanks. I got the trailer from Harbor Freight tools. Its the 1800# model.

  • I didn't keep track but I'm guessing between $4-$5K.

  • Great job Bruce

  • WELL DONE...BRAVO!!!

  • sorry my englis! am going to do a trailer very soon, is a military trailer for my land rover!

  • congratulations! very nice work

  • Thanks!

  • Where did you get your plans for this? I am getting ready to build one and yours is just what I want.

I love the dove tail quality on the drawers. It really goes to the detail that a lot of folks would overlook...

  • I got my plans from Kevin Hauser . Google Kuffel Creek Teardrop . Of course I changed everything but the plans are a great starting point.

  • NICE indeed...............

  • Beautiful Job! I'm just starting out on the path to building my own and your video gave me some ideas, again nicely done.

  • make sure to post some pictures and good luck with your build!

  • great job buddy, i got some videos of my towable backhoe im building right now.

  • Very nice job.

  • very cool, You giving me Idea's, Thanks for the vid,

  • Beautiful Job! Outstanding! Thanks for sharing!

  • Awesome video!!! How much does this weigh? Could I pull it safely with my light duty pick up truck? My little Ford Ranger with a four banger and 5 speed on the floor comes to mind.

  • Teardrops weigh anywhere from 900# and up, depending on how they're built. Your pickup shouldn't have any problems pulling one.

  • Hi!!! nice teardrop, were did you get the plans for it?

  • See below.

  • damn...thats awesome

  • What metal material did you use on the seams/joints where the roof meets the side walls? Can you point me to where it can be ordered? I'm designing a similar trailer, and that question has been puzzling me.

  • I used 3/4" aluminum angle from the home center that I annealed and bent around the curve. Pain in the rear to do given that they sell trim for RVs that can be easily bent.

    Bruce

  • I plan to build a small travel trailer one day and your excellent video gave me some great ideas. Love the roof mounted solar cells.

  • Very Nice, Looks like fun.

  • One of the best I have seen!!!. You have a lot of good idea's.

  • I'm building one off the rearend and frame of a 62 chevy pickup with 14" wheels...headed to Oregon to pick up the trailer in one week. Love the idea with the dining table!!

  • Just beautiful!!!

Where did you get the instructions to make this GREAT camper?

  • Do a Google search on "Teardrops & Tiny Travel Trailers". There are free plans posted there.

    Bruce

  • Great job, I'm starting on one now and am still putting trailer together. I hope it ends up as good as yours.

    Bobl

  • Make sure and take a lot pictures during your build so we can all see your progress!

  • there really cool saw them on travel channel.

  • Man !

    That Is A Beutiful Rig!

  • Nice job! What kind of odor did you get from the Henry's and how long did it last?

  • I didn't really notice any kind of odor, there certainly isn't one now.

    Bruce

  • I'm weather proofing mine this week. All around including the floor, an inch (two on top) rigid insulation, radient barrier, two inch airspace...then the cedar walls. It's tight with spray foam and silicone calk. Should be tight enough for me to spend the winter camped in a National Forest.

  • nice

  • nice job, ramp up and build a few for sale.

  • Great video, and nice rig. It looks sturdy and functional. I'm considering building my own teardrop camping trailer, but I need to keep the weight down to say 600-800 lbs. empty, so I can easily pull it with a Ford Focus.

How much does your trailer weigh?

What do you pull it with?

  • the guy who built mine didn't weather proof it at all !!!

  • You one-uped Kevin Hauser; you should be proud !
