@DenyVoidDead I'm an old punk and I wish I knew! Punk was a reaction to prog rock and disco. Pop music had stagnated; punk was just going back to the roots of rock'n'roll. Plus the economy sucked, and everyone was good and mad about that. No one's quite sure why the original scene collapsed, but it pretty much imploded around 1987. The big acts kept going, but the vibe had changed.
Grab a guitar, learn three chords, write some angry lyrics and make a public nuisance of yourself!
@DenyVoidDead I've been noticing shitloads of "new" oldschool punk bands springing up. I can go on listing 50+ bands. And I bet there's a whole lot more. That's why, we should all get into gear and start bands.. lol. Check out the Night Birds, Regulations, Direct Control, Socialcide, Strung up, etc. I can tell you more if you want.
@misfits765 - Yes. For real. I knew Keith back in 1978. In my opinion that version of Black Flag was the BEST! Don't get me wrong... Dez was cool and I liked Henry Rollins, but the ORIGINAL Black Flag was loud, raw, and unadulterated Punk at it's finest (unless you were LAPD that is.... LOL!)
@misfits765 - Yeah! I knew Ron!!! He was a WILD guy from Canada (If I remember correctly). I think he was in Redd Kross also... but your asking an old "Punker" from L.A. about stuff that happened 30 years ago, and we used to drink a lot back then so my memory ain't what it should be. LOL! and LMAO!!!
