  • You sound like a cool guy, Reminded me of friends I have made over the years. I love that undying learning spirit that some of us share. The good thing about a combo wind solar system is that generaly when the sun does not shine the wind blows and vice-versa. This is a sorta natural regulator. BTW that is definitly #6 awg wire not #10 ;-) As for the batteries as long as they are maintained they will last a very long time. Never let them sit depleted. Keep plying on, I enjoyed this very much.

  • Very interesting videos good personality and good voice. The background music can be annoying though.

  • Hey dude this is really cool.I cant afford $800 so can you guide me to set up a smaller one which is Enough to power up my PC. I am from India so my voltage is 220~230V

  • hey man nice work where did you get charge controller could you send me the website please that would be great thank you

  • Was this for the Daihatsu motor home? I am interested in hearing more about the camper. Can I buy one for the USA?

  • lol @ music in the back

  • What brand is your solar charger?

  • My backup system will consist of DC/AC POwer Inverter w/Charger getting DC power from 8 Trojan 6V batteries. Since the batteries would need to be charged using grid power I want to save money by installing a moderate solar system to do the charging instead. With your experience, what size solar panels would I need?Is it as easy as running the solar panel into the charge controller and then straigth into the DC batteries? Would you happen to know of any solar kits that can accomplish this?

  • another way to link your batteries is to use alittle longer wire and run them all to a common point, that way you don't have to put the charge wires on opposite ends you can put it at the common point and since all the wires are the same length it would charge the batteries equally. also when you use the inverer it would pull from the batteries equally. doing this you can use a smaller size battery cable cause they would only be carring the power of one battery instead of the entire battery bank

  • video quality sucks.. but really good information thanks buddy..

  • Looks good way to go.

  • Those are probably flooded starter battery not deep discharge and normally they do not need to be discharged more than 10% so need to be always 90% full and not great for of grid installation.

As for wind turbine a 400W one like air-x will produce about 38KWh/month in 5.5m/s average wind speed so you need good wind resources. At the same time a 400W solar panel in summer will generate depending on location 80 to 100KWh/month and in winter where I live about 35 to 40KWh/month.

  • thanks for the info..

  • Great system. How much do you have invested in your solar setup? Thanks.

  • Awesome! i love when people use proper load balancing. everyone assumes that large cables have no resistance. but you battery bank will defiantly last a lot longer. Great job!

  • howdy parrtner lol

  • Why do some battery banks have positive to positive connections and some have positive to negative connections? Does connecting positive to negative increase the voltage? I want to use a 12v converter but run it off to 12v batteries.

  • Hey, i haven't gone thru that " learning experience" with solar kits but i wanted to know what it might take to power the smallest air conditioning unit available which is 5000 btu.

  • BTW, cheap wires can be found at your local scrapyard in some old cars!

  • Just make sure you have good ventilation. Some batteries vent explosive gases! Be safe. Also watch out for dead cells in batteries. This can really cause problems with the charging and also cause explosions in some batteries (in rare cases).

  • I like your idea not using older batteries and new onces, instead just wiring new batteries together. seems somehow better and much safer.

was wondering if you use fuses for saftey.? :)

    greetings ^_^

  • You can get battery cables from Walmart for around $4 each (about 8in long)

  • Also when you upgrade your system later on, like add a new battery to the existing battery bank, are you concerned that you will be introducing a new battery to three used ones?

  • @zakifarmz7 not really. I will be sure to date each battery so i know how old they are. the point i made of having all the batteries the same age was not as important as it seemed. You do what you can afford. date them, test them from time to time. thanks again

  • Hey man this is really cool. I'd like to know which inverter you are using, and if you recommend any particular shops to order from?? I'D really appreciate it!!

  • @zakifarmz7 I ordered everything off ebay. i have a 2000 watt inverter. i have to check the brand. I was not particular about it. I reccomend ordering online. don't over pay. good luck and any more questions please ask me... did you subscribe ? i will be doing more. thanks BWW

  • nice vid! i have a gas generator for when the power go's out. im looking into solar power but im still on the fence about where to start. wind power here is not an option tho..we do good to have a breeze! lol

  • @iwillybilly Look around on youtube and you will figure it out.. start small and allow yourself room to grow... 20A or bigger Charge controller... good luck... if u need advice, just ask..

    BWW

  • @iwillybilly

you can buy a charge controller featureing replacable relays so that you can have any amp rating. your choices include, high watt/expensive panels vs lots of small watt little panels that are still somewhat expensive. or building your own with solar cells off ebay.

i saw an auction the other day for 1kw of grade B solar cells for $75

  • Hey I am really interested!! What kind of charge controller is that??? Can you post a link or send me a pm??? Please!! Great job, I just moved into my new WROL location and want to do the same upgradable type system, as money allows!!

  • I am taking a guess that those "box solar set" you are talking about is from Harbor Freight. The best thing from the set is the cost. Makes the panels cheaper if you buy the set instead of the panels one at a time. The HB kit charge controller can handle 10amps. Not much but for the kit overkill.

But you have a great start. Good luck with your future upgrades...

  • @philipx2 I have never been to harbor freight. I have heard alot about them. I was referring to Tractor Supply, thats whats near me. I assumed each region has different stores. Thanks for the comment and please do me a favor and subscribe.

  • Great Vid my Friend!!

    Thumbs Up!!

  • @MadBadVoodo Thanks alot. it means alot coming from you. your the future king of youtube.

  • @TheBackWoodsWay LOL!! Thanks Man!!

  • Good job, I never thought about the cost compared to a generator.

  • @SixtyAteOutdoors thanks bro... please give me a shout out on your channel and I will do the same for you. I intend to keep it professional.

  • Yo BW, great start. If I may make one suggestion, (i learned the hard way) Since it's DC to the inverter, make your cables as short as possible. I have a 4 battery system and loaded up for 3 or 4 hours and now worries with heat. Cool controller too!

  • @stayingawake20 Thanks alot. Appreciate the feedback.
