  • for few first seconds i thought it will be painted in Alex Katz's style

  • Wow!!! I am so inspired!! My medium is acrylic on canvass--I've played around with Windows paint--but this is freakin AWESoME!!!! You are so gifted--keep it up forever!!

  • ha thanks. i'm glad i inspired someone. i'm sure you are gifted to, just takes practice and dedication to get to where you want to go!

  • weirddd, because thats actually my friend chel =]

    you did a good job

  • haha awesome! thanks a lot!

  • one side of the face looks chubby

    :o

    but other then that....awesomes

    XD

  • do you draw with mouse ????? because i cant imagine those wonderful lines made by a mouse

  • no in the description it shows what i use. ;]

  • This is very good. I recomend you see my mate

    "bobvhan".

He makes paintings like this and is very very good.:)

  • amazing... do you have a website? I would love to see the full resolution of your work :)

  • i do not have a website. i use Concept Art Forums a lot with the surname: mattgamer. you can find my posts there. ;] thanks. ;]

  • I wish I could paint this well. I bought myself a wacom and am still working on being able to do this stuff

  • Just keep practicing with it and get on a good art forum and learn from the people who've been doing it for years. ConceptartForums is a good place that I frequent. The only way for you to suck is to stop drawing. So draw everyday!

  • This is fantastic advise! Its funny cuz peopld are always saying they havent been able to draw since they were young.... and then admit they havent tried. Carry a sketch pad... render what ever catches your eye!

I am better with a paintbrush that a computer brush...... but am getting there.

  • yes sir! i used to think that art was with one medium, but it applies to everything you do. even photography is a form of art that can enhance your sketching/illustration/painting/etc! practice the digital more and you'll get better, for sure. ;]

  • And have fun doing it!!!!

  • conceptart[dot]org threads are my favorite place to go. so much inspiration there. ;] also traditional mediums (pencil, pen, oils, etc) help your digital art a bunch. practice traditional more than digital and digital will be easy!!

  • Hands on art is something I have been doing forever.... and try to work on it everday (check my art if you want, its on my youtube channel).... transfering the concepts into digital is interesting and a very different feel. Sooooooooo want a tablet! :)

  • awesome. yes get a bamboo tablet. they're the cheapest thing out there and just as good as an Intuos. i do majority of my studies on my graphire 2 which is 4 years old. keep on drawing!!

  • Now this is something I like from Youtube so much...When I stumble upon people doing cool things like this digital portraying. Never thought a trained hand could get so photorrealistic. Digital canvas as a "new", inexpensive medium???

  • Yes. Unlimited paints and realistic brushes if you learn to customize them in Photoshop. Thanks for watching!

  • Wow man, mind blowing...

  • Matt. You are a maniac my friend. Brilliant work.

  • shut the fuck up u cant do anything without talent shhh u fagh very nice painting

  • I wish I had your skillz... And your patience.

  • It's one of the free tracks on Biosphere's website. Link is in the video description. ;)

  • pretty

  • Hey Matt, this is Luke from Laramie. Just wanted to say that you got a real talent and this painting is quite amazing! Take care dude.

  • Hay, man. Thank you very much. Now I get to check out your YouTube. Great! :)

  • that is an AWESOME video

  • wow, sounds so exciting

  • you are amazing dude i hope i can do like this in the future coz my painting skills is so bad and i really want to improve my painting skills

  • were can i buy a tablet in canada?

  • In Canada? Hmm, check your local Office Depot or office supply store. Also, check NewEgg online (search NewEgg in Google) for a tablet. Wacom Graphire 4 is a good one to start out with now days.

  • :o wow! great job! wish i could do stuff like that lol

  • You can. With the right tools and a little knowledge (I use the Wacom Intuos3 Tablet and Photoshop CS3). I literally learned everything I know about Photohop from watching youtube and checking out online tutorials. Anyone with some patience can be a good artist.

  • wow she looks just like Chel Matthews wow what a coincidence =))) :P (joke)

  • Is that Chel Matthews?

  • How bizzare, I just started watching this and thought itunes was playing up but it turned out that i was listening to the same biosphere track in sync with yours, what are the odds? great minds think alike i say, good work by the way...

  • Haha, really? Wow, that's amazing! :D

  • very cool to see someone actually paint something from scratch with the computer

  • Hi, I've been trying to figure this out for a while. But how do you move the picture without having to go back to navigation?

  • If you mean move the canvas. You can hold the SPACE key and the cursor turns into a hand. Then just move the canvas as you wish. Though you must be in the right "Screen" mode in Photoshop to move the canvas. Change the "Screen" mode with the keyboard shortcut, "F". I hope this helps.

  • a great piece of art, Matt.

  • At first I thought it was a hot boy, and then it suddenly turned into a girl! Super painting.

  • beauty !

  • Very nice we have very simliar style.

  • your friend is fit :P

  • can you please tell me. where can i get one, and how much it cost??

  • you can get a wacom tablet at NewEgg or Amazon. any site that sells electronics. even my local Office Depot has the new Bamboo tablet. ;]

  • Great job! I'm thinking of getting Corel Painter X and Intuos3 tablet, I was wondering if one can paint with tablet in addition to drawing? Can pen work as a brush?

  • Yes, you can paint and draw in pen, brush, pencil, watercolor and so much more. Painter X is the way to go along with the Intuos3 tablet!

  • why does on have eyelashes and the other doesn't

  • Bloody hell, I couldn't do anything like that, thats going into my favourites without doubt, have you seen the new Wacom tablet video its called LOST-John Locke-Speed painting, it's also very good, you may want to take a look. I say again, brilliant.

  • You could do something like this, it just takes practice. I saw the many Lost speed paints. Some are very good and some aren't. ;] Thank you.

  • dont get me wrong, this is amazing, but its not proportionally correct.

  • mesmerising.

Didn't need the comments throughout like 'fixing the head' - ruined the mood a bit, but still really nice.

  • beautiful ! amasing ! realy good...

  • that was sooo good!! I GIVE IT 5 STAR!!!

  • Stunning stuff matt, i came here looking for biosphere and i got a brilliant art video aswell, i take my hat off to you added to my favourites. Could you name the Biosphere tracks for me i knew the last one but not the ones before, cheers mate.

  • Thank you, mate! All of the music from Biosphere were the free ones from his website. If you download all of them you will find it! I forget. :D

  • Really like the way the eyes look, very realistic, great help :)

  • i think this is really awesome!! great job!! i want to get a tablet but i was wondering... can you do realistic drawing and paintings as well as anime??

  • Thank you! Of coarse you can do realistic drawings and paintings and better than anime. Anime is very easy to achieve when you know what you are doing. Cheers. ;]

  • that s amazin!! r u sure u use a mouse not a real nife !! great job

  • I didn't use a mouse or knife. I used a Wacom tablet. Thank you.

  • Where you looking at a picture? Watching her? or had a mental picture?

  • I was painting her from a digital photo on my desktop. The advantages of widescreen LCD. ;] Thanks!

  • When ur making the eyes the person looks terrified.lol. great job!

  • that is amazing!

  • Thinking about getting a tablet (do mostly pencil sketches atm) does the Graphire 4 Classic give natural pencil strokes?

  • To get natural pencil strokes would be impossible digitally. But if you want the emulation of it at it's peak, get an Intuos 3 series. If you get a Wacom at all, go all out and get the best. Graphires amazing for editing photos and animating. ;]

  • Great vid, this has hlped me gain knowldge of the Wacom. Im getting an Intuos 3 6 x 8 soon!

  • Glad to help! I have the same Intuos 3 and LOVE IT!

  • Hmm thanks, is the graphire 4 Classic useable for sketching at least the basic shapes?

Afraid the Intuos 3 is a bit out of my price range. (student)

  • Yes yes!! You can get the Graphire 4 Bluetooth, which is wireless. I've heard good reports on it. I had a Graphire 2 for 3 years, it was awesome. ;] But I still recommend the Intuos3, SAVE LIKE HECK! Even if it takes you 3 years! ;]

  • Thats definitely the best Painting on Photoshop Ive seen!

How long did it take to get those skills? -_- I cant do anything more than cartoons

  • It is all Photoshop. I've been working with digital for almost 2 years. But just recently been working hard to get better. If you practice, you can do it! ;]

  • omg. awesome! brilliant!

  • i have no idea what i tablet is. but im an aspiring artist, lol, and u inspire me, get it? anyhow...i was just wondering why u didnt use any yellow on the lighter cheek? other wish ur pretty freakin astounding :] 2 thumbs up. ;)

  • A tablet is a piece of hardware you can hook up to your PC through USB. Then you can draw through the tablet onto your computer and it can sense the pressures of the pen. I didn't use any yellow because I really detest yellow and purple as colors. Thank you very much for you comment!

  • Beautiful!

  • ..Im depressed..you rock painting..hey is that tablet good? I mean..what I like to do is draw by hand and then scan my drawings and start painting..but Im about to get a tablet and I want to know which one would be better to get..I need a lot of practise =[

  • Get an Wacom Intuos 3 if you can afford it. They are perfect for painting. If you're doing graphics I would reccomend a Wacom Graphire 4 (i have a 2). Cheers and msg me if you have more questions!

  • thank you =] blah now Im using the stupid touchpad on the laptop..and using photoshop elements!! it sucks!! and Im doing my best but I cant get to paint..I've been trying..but ugh..I cant get the..hmm..Blocking [I think it was] technique right..=[

  • If you seriously plan on painting digitally, I would recommend the Wacom Intuos 3 6x8. It's perfect size and awesome pressures. I just bought me one of these and I LOVE IT! You can definatly paint with any of the Graphire series, but Intuos is better!

  • That was excellent... really liked watching it. It's interesting to watch a work in progress, as most artists don't like to be watched whilst creating. Cheers dude.

  • Awesome !

  • W00T !1

  • how dood are tablets in detail because i'm thinking of getting one

  • Its just like drawing by hand.

I dont know how to describe it...

Well when i bought mine i went like WOAH because the box said "512 levels of pressure". And the pen that comes with it has 2 sides, one eraser and one pencil. . . So you dont need to keep changing and stuff.

The pressure levels control the size of the brush and the opacity, sometimes. you can config it all. It's really freaking useful. :]

  • That's awesome. I could never do that even that I've used PS for a long time and have some serious skills but that is amazingly superb.

  • I believe you could. And skill has nothing to do with it, it all takes practice and hard work. That's it! Thanks!
