  • Well said. Friedman did extend the personal/societal liberty into his economic theory as Descartes, Kant, Locke, and Smith did in their "philosophy of reason." Yes you are correct, Friedman is not understood by popular culture. Friedman said in his book; "Free To Choose" individuals cooperate while each pursue their own iinterest, in ALL systems of knowledge.

  • Contrary to popular belief, Friedman was neither pro/anti-corporation. He merely set the same standard as Adam Smith and John Locke - the pursuit of self-interest without harming others. It should also be noted that Friedman viewed environmental issues such as pollution as a form of harm that should have a financial consequence.
