Sebastien Bourdais became the 2003 rookie of the year when Team Player's and Paul Tracy won the championship and the rivalry has begun in 2004 I think.

Since then PLN is deceased, Bourdais' career is somewhat in limbo (Superleague Formula?), and Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing is a mess despite signing Hideki Mutoh. And where's Graham Rahal?

Unfortunately F1 is tough, I hope we can see him for many years to come in F1. His 2008 season is good for a rookie, even though his is 4 time world champion.

He was the worst performing rookie in F1 this year so he's not exactly "good for a rookie". He scored 4 points, meaning for every championship in champ car he has won he's matched it with ONE point in F1. Nakajima was the 2nd worse rookie with 9 points, Nelson Jr got 19 and Vettel 35 points in the same car!

You are right, but I think it is illogical that such a guy with with such an experience be the worst rookie in 2008. We don't know the the circumstances during the races. he always complained about the setup. maybe he was always heavier than Vettel most of the time. The only thing I know that he has the talent and knowledge, and most importantly F1 fans like him. unfortunately STR's budget is tight so they will trade him someone who will get them more sponsorship money.

For me at least he has more presence than Nakajima and Nelson Jr. I feel that he did not get his chance properly in 2008. Vettel is another story, Vettel is a great talent, I have no doubt that he will be in a seat in a top F1 team. I think Bourdais should get a seat in 2008. people should get a second chance to prove himself. Not every one is Senna or Schumi. In addition points does not tell the whole story.

Bourdais himself said that this was the first time ever when he had to drive a car where he felt uncomfortable. There's very little what you can tweak in F1 car compared to other 'lesser' open wheel series.

Just check the situation in Ferrari where Räikkönen suffered huge problems with the car and tires making Massa look way too good.
