awesome vid..i love ice riding, I'm from NH too..looking to trade or sell my XR400 and get a kdx, I miss my old CR500, but it was a beast on the trails, kdx 175,200, or 220 looks about right for me..try keeping your feet on the footpegs, nothing like tossing it into a corner wide open feet up its a blast!!
Theres a 89/90 KDX 200 for sale near me, full FMF pipe, recent engine rebuild. KX 500 forks and rear shock, he wants £750 for it (about $1500) thought it was a good price, what do you think?
Yeah, That's worth it.Maybe offer him something a bit less than he's asking. If it looks good, 750 is a fair price. especially with a rebuilt engine, KX 500 forks, rear shock, and a full FMF pipe. good luck
i recently got a 1994 kdx 200, but the only problem is the float is bad in the carb, the rear sproket hub's teeth are bent and the engine mount is becoming loose he was going to sell for 8090 but we told him the things that needed to be replaced and he dropped to 600 :P but in all its such a great bike my crf 230f has a hard time keepin up!! nice vid
yeah i don't know too much about the kips but the suspension is the only thing that kawasaki slacked off on on the kdx. I would definitely throw a kx250 fork on it. The stock suspension is do-able but it's kinda plush, i bottom out sometimes and i weigh 135 haha...but that's cuz i ride it like i stole it
It would be a lot more powerful than an XR 100. That was my first bike. Then I owned an XR 250 and then the KDX 200. KDX's were still air-cooled in 86'. Go for it. you might want to clean the kips valves once you get it though. chances are they haven't been cleaned in awhile. go to the "justkdx" website for a complete guide to KDXs
yeah it can keep up with the little 125s no problem if you're a good rider. It has plenty of power and a wide powerband for a two-stroke, it's light and flickable in the woods. It's a great bike, a lot of torque that'll get you out of tight situations. I would buy it, It might need a little TLC like mine did but it's worth it. I can keep up with everyone I ride with, even guys on ktms
My jetting is slightly leaner than stock because I kept fouling plugs. I'm not sure exactly what it is. Stock is 158 main jet, and 48 slow jet. It's a pretty old bike so stuff changes. I can't believe Kawasaki is done with KDX! That's a bummer. Ideally, my next bike will be a KTM 200 XC : D
Nice bike, cool vid. BTW, Pratt Pond is actually over the line in Mason :-)

I am thinking about trading my old XR 100 for a 1986 KDX 200. I know its a good deal but are they fast? Do they have alot of power?

Yeah 1989 was a great year for the KDX. It was the year the KDX 200 became liquid cooled. I love mine, but that KTM 200 XC looks sweet!

Yes! thanks This is what I run too! And my next bike will be a ktm 250 exc but I will never sell MY KDX200 1989 ! NEVER
