hi! I'm a japanese 8th grade student.I'm watching your podcasts for about a year!! And they're great!I love you guy's. And I would like to see you one day.
I'm more of a chevy fan when it comes to style, but with technology and staying with the current trends I'm more of a ford fan. I can't say that I like the new explorer... AT ALL! it's hideous. It's a car. Front wheel drive? That's weak. Ford can do better than that. But on the technology side chevy is still able to compete. IE, the magnetic shocks first fitted to a corvette that's now found even on ferrari. Combine chevy style with ford tech and U.S. would dominate
"when i think SUV i think explorer" GAG! ftw how about Jeep. the Jeep Wagoneer was the first SUV from the 60s!! so uh hmmm 50 years or barely 20....? what do you think?
I'll stick to the Expedition EL i like the extra room and being able to pull an enclosed car trailer with two cars in it that weighs well more then 5000lbs yeah i get about 16mpg on the hwy but owell its better then our old jeep
Very nice but ,come on. Aren't we about done with the suburban road warrior image -- that we need a SUV that can go to the great untamed wilderness? Be honest. They're showing muddy backroads and you're thinking Home Depot.
@mjordan552 It is a big country, there are many places with no paved roads, can you imagine that? There are also places that get lots of snow and people still need an SUV to get to work. You have to keep an open mind.
so yesterday i went down to a ford dealer and a gm dealer looking to buy a new halton truck. when i got there gm's SL model?(one step up from the w/t) was about 28,000 before rebates. and fords f-150 was 38,000.....for a work truck!!! what the fuck is this? what the hell is ford charging an extra ten grand for?? they may be a LITTLE bit more well engineered but not 10 grand worth. ford is out to get yo money
@chinchillawrangler save your 10k quit whining and when your Gm has 10k worth of labor after 2 years of owning it then you can whine best advice buy a dodge work truck cheaper then ford and more reliable then a chevy
For the German big 3, you just kind of imaging that the Engineers come to work in a 7 series in a black suit with a black tie and black shoes you know, tuning an Audi nuclear reactor disguised as a 4 cylinder eco- diesel!
@jujitsustudent yep you are right that is because there were tons of them out there running great with over two hundred thousand miles on them so they were not worth more than a couple grand in trade before cash for clunkers because of the age and mileage but the owners were not forced to buy vehicles to replace them before cash for clunkers becasue they were still running fine. Most other runnung vehicles with that kind of mileage didn't qualify because they were cars and too fuel efficiant.
This is using the same platform as the Taurus not very ground breaking. All it is basicly is a Flex/Taurus X. Besides using a unibody on an SUV isn't anything new, Jeep has been doing this since day one with the Grand Cherokee. Don't get me wrong i like this version a lot better then the outgoing version, but like i said it's nothing ground breaking like the 86 Taurus was.
@SteelCity1981 Like most critics, you want Quality, and in this case a new Chassis, but you don't want to pay for it, so in Fords case, that would be a bad economic decision.
An emasculated, defangued, declawed, and pussified front-wheel drive-based, over worked, over-heated 4-cylinder crossover that is only going to "explore" the back of shopping mall parking lots... Ford has betrayed the spirit, DNA and pedigree of the once great Ford Explorer.
If they wanted to alienate and piss off their customer-base, they've succeeded.
Find some other sucker to fund the UAW's bloated benefits and in exchange only be left making payments for that piece of junk!
@USA4July1776 i disagree. i dont think most people buy the explorer for what it was intended initially anymore. as time as pass it has become a stylish minivan for soccer moms and big families. you and im sure other hardcore off roaders will be upset with this but you unfortunately are not the target market. ford is remaining afloat because of the decisions they have made so far. in this economy it woulnt be wise to focus alot of money on heritage. they are evolving with the customers.
Of course not. Why would they put a V-8 in the Flexplorer? It's a FWD unibody imitation SUV made for sissy boys and soccer moms. They don't need a V-8 like real men do. It's sad, but we'll never see another V-8 Explorer.
@edgilmer haha that was funny.... I like Ford but that is a valid point..... sometimes I wish that companies in general would just lay off the over the top intros haha but I guess people love a train wreck...
@ulrek54321 lmao yea maybe if you're definition of "off-road" is an unpaved road.. this is the type of car your mom would drive to pick you up from school.. not a car you would take to moab, utah.. it looks nice but its just a city-slicker type of vehicle.. get me?
While I won't argue that the Explorer didn't help ignite the SUV craze in the 1990's, it definitely did not "start it all". The Suburban has been around since the Great Depression.
The new big Audi looks... well, like every other Audi. Boring. The new 2011 Ford Explorer looks awfully like the new Landrover with all the sleekness sucked out. The new Mrs Rocco looks way bigger than the old Derek D. Might be fun!
Ford should offer the EcoBoost V6 as well. Naturally aspirated V6's don't do well with towing, because their relative low torque, and how high it is up in the RPM band. Since the EcoBoost V6 makes peak torque from just 2000 rpm, it would be perfect for customers looking to tow heavier items, such as boats. Think about it Ford, family vacations and towing go hand in hand lol.
This is why I will never by an american car...they CAN produce a good car and ford seems to really be getting their shit together...but they robbed and milked the american public with such substandard cars until the breaking point of basically going bankrupt...so here's a giant fuck you to all the greedy american auto CEO's who care about one thing only...PROFIT!
Audi's lineup is slowly becoming a lot like BMW's...extremely bloated and monotonous. Get back to your roots Audi and BMW and stop making cars just because you can.
one thing about the felipa massa insident, if you where watching the onboard telemetry at the time you can see that he shifted early twice, both times at sixtenn thousand RPM instead of eaiteen thousand
Terrain Mangement, makes me laugh when she started talking about customer. what she should have said is "it started a couple years back when we owned Land Rover, and now we just took it and change Terrain Response to Terrain Mangement, and we even kept the exact same symbols on the knob

lol in europe we had this technology about 10yrs ago or more on the range rover and other cars whats the whole big fuss about this box? america leading in car technology from 10 yrs ago welcome to the past hahhaha :S i hope 1 day americans will get some insparation from other european car companys and create a (CAR). so far thay only made buses and slow cars.... GOOD LUCK AMERICANS
@maxinu007 i think they're making it a big deal because the technology is now available in a fairly affordable suv (because range rovers are pretty expensive). thats something that you europeans can learn from us "old tech" americans: producing cars that normal people can actually afford, yet still have the same features.
@1norcal415 youre wrong budy you pay for what u get for... american cars ar cheap because thay are made cheap.. quality is much better then the explorer, range is made with engineering at its best and finest in every possible way. explorer is made for a journy to mcdonals and back home. in europe we have cheap cars like pegeout u can have a new one for just 18000$ but its a cheap car and rubish. we have bmw u pay 34000$ and i assure u it will have a longer life time then me i hope u get my point
@maxinu007 Wow, can you put together a proper sentence without sounding like you're 5 years old? You think Range Rover is "made with engineering at its best and finest in every possible way"???? The Range Rover has used a BUICK ENGINE for the last 20 or so years you fucking idiot. Thats AMERICAN technology from the 1960's in case you were wondering. And considering Ford OWNED Land Rover when they developed their traction system, they are using the EXACT SAME SYSTEM in the Explorer.
Don't worry, ford is offering a car without them, because you definitely don't know the different between real 4WD system and traction control system (AKA terrain management)
yeah why do women always have 4*4's? i think its because they cant drive properly and crash all the time, so when they do eventually crash they will kill someone else and not themself
@johngrimezy we have never had an accident, we havent had any tickets in 5 yrs, and we have a 4*4 because we live in northern Canada. Take your stereo typical head and shove it up your ass
yeah am presuming you have roads there, and you do not need a 4*4, just some studded tires, you don’t see all the Russians with 4*4 in the winter, because they just put some studded tires.
And my mum has a 4*4 and the reason is because she is a shit driver, and you see a lot of women driving 4*4 and i think its because they cant drive properly, ly they cant operate a clutch, nor change gears without swerving to the side of the road, and women have no spatial awareness.
Did the thought ever occur to you guys that the first turn was discusssed by Massa and Alonso. It is a fact that Massa had the advantage in the midst of vetell/alonso side by side. Some of the best passes in history are made this way ....right.Massa is no stooge as it appears iregardless if peeps dont buy the tire theory or not team mates arent supposed to take each other out like vettel/button.Ferrari will never be that stupid history tells us that
no it isnt it more like giving them a front wing and a steering wheel and maybe the engine cover, the cars are worth in eccess of millions of pounds (£)
audi based alot of their model on the b7? am i right? a4. like their a8 and shit one too? cmon. i know a4 rear looks good but it doesnt look good on bigger sedans..
The whole Ferrari incident doesn't strike me as a team order. The "order"/subliminal message kept both cars safe and in the race, as well as allowed the faster car and driver to win. But, FIA in all of its nonsensical wisdom choose poorly, again.
@ArthrusGigawitAnteon I will definitely agree with you with this issue. It's just those mclaren fans that cant take it because the lead if mclaren at the championship is decreasing, all they want to do if fuck Ferrari up.
@LbsOfTech Ford once owned Land Rover so why not? Ford also owned Jaguar, and if it wasn't for Jaguar, the range rover wouldn't have had that powerful 5.0 litre V8 (a.k.a AJ-V8) from the XJ resting under it's hood.
So what was Ferrari fined for? I didn't quite follow that. And isn't this the second time this year that they have been picking on Ferrari for something? Weren't they giving Ferrari trouble earlier this year for advertising cigarets on their car with that bar code or something?Formula 1 seems to have too many restrictive rules if you ask me.
I don't even care where you build it, I just want one. I fell in love with utes when I visited Australia four years ago.
I was raised in a GM family, but now that they've gone socialist, I'm probably going to trade in my Grand Prix 6 on a Ford when it wears out. I'd like that Ford to be a Falcon ute.
if they sold 6 million and there are now 4 million on the road...hmmm...im sorry but a 66% remaining rate is well sad.....try and make this jump Aston martin still has 98% of all the cars they ever made ever still on the road....and before you say "dude your an idiot thats two different things completely in essence yes it is Aston may have sold what 500000 in its time but the concept remains 98%>66%
i see a journeys... and ofcourse the new ford explorer to me its not too crazy of a big thing, did u guys do coverage on the new 4runner? the trail edition? and the new jeep? it seems like everyone has or is getting the new thing now, yes land rover started this but still, o well easy for ppl i guess...
i feel sorry for Massa its not the first time he has had to give up first place. Anyone remember when shcumacer was his team mate? yeh ouch i feel sorry for massa

If you don't know when to turn on 4High or 4Low
Don't worry, ford is offering a car without them, because you definitely don't know the different between real 4WD system and traction control system (AKA terrain management)

yeah why do women always have 4*4's? i think its because they cant drive properly and crash all the time, so when they do eventually crash they will kill someone else and not themself
johngrimezy 1 year ago
@johngrimezy we have never had an accident, we havent had any tickets in 5 yrs, and we have a 4*4 because we live in northern Canada. Take your stereo typical head and shove it up your ass
fadedasianakaStEpHeN 1 year ago
yeah am presuming you have roads there, and you do not need a 4*4, just some studded tires, you don’t see all the Russians with 4*4 in the winter, because they just put some studded tires.
And my mum has a 4*4 and the reason is because she is a shit driver, and you see a lot of women driving 4*4 and i think its because they cant drive properly, ly they cant operate a clutch, nor change gears without swerving to the side of the road, and women have no spatial awareness.
johngrimezy 1 year ago
Did the thought ever occur to you guys that the first turn was discusssed by Massa and Alonso. It is a fact that Massa had the advantage in the midst of vetell/alonso side by side. Some of the best passes in history are made this way ....right.Massa is no stooge as it appears iregardless if peeps dont buy the tire theory or not team mates arent supposed to take each other out like vettel/button.Ferrari will never be that stupid history tells us that

A 100,000 buck fine is like giving the FIA one of their cars...
They should be DQ'd
Nish2280 1 year ago
@Nish2280
no it isnt it more like giving them a front wing and a steering wheel and maybe the engine cover, the cars are worth in eccess of millions of pounds (£)
johngrimezy 1 year ago
@johngrimezy Haha no mean one of their road cars :D. 100,000 would probably be 3 stearing wheels, 1/3 of a front wing.
If you include costs for research and development F1 cars cost upwards of 10million a pop.

Might be getting one of those new 11' Explorers lol "Ford built without your tax dollars."

The whole Ferrari incident doesn't strike me as a team order. The "order"/subliminal message kept both cars safe and in the race, as well as allowed the faster car and driver to win. But, FIA in all of its nonsensical wisdom choose poorly, again.
ArthrusGigawitAnteon 1 year ago
@ArthrusGigawitAnteon I will definitely agree with you with this issue. It's just those mclaren fans that cant take it because the lead if mclaren at the championship is decreasing, all they want to do if fuck Ferrari up.

LbsOfTech 1 year ago
@LbsOfTech - um Yo, at 1 point a year or 2 ago ford owned land rover, so its much more they were apart of the same company than to say its copied
NinjaForeChrist 1 year ago

Ford: Bring the Falcon ute to America!
