  • more art and less reader face.

  • Artist in the Renaissance worked within the Guild System!!! min 1.23!

Right, as if Cimabue and Giotto lived in the 15th century Renaissance!

    Giotto, 1267 – 1337, 13th - 14 the century in case you are wondering.

    Cimabue 1240 circa – 1302.

We are talking about medieval period, even if Giotto changed the figurative art and prepared for Renaissance, a century after his death, through his pursuit of realism and presentation of complex scenes with depth.

  • Very helpful......exam on the renaissance tonight!

  • Good job, thanks, it helped me for my test=]

  • Giotto's 'Lives..' was based on the literary genre of Lives of the Saints. Just thought I'd add my 2 cents. Nicely done. Sounds like my FAH papers.

  • Hey, I enjoyed this. You are very informative and I appreciate that I could hear you clearly. Keep up the good work.

  • I am a student of Art History in Florence, the work of Cimabue is not of 1280 but 1290-1300, a period when Cimabue is yet influenzed by the experiences of Giotto, that became the most famous artist... this work you talk about still shows byzantine suggestions but there's naturalistic solutions as the throne, look Madonna of Cimabue in Paris! she's more byzantine! I think that you have to speek about Siena's artists too! sorry for my English! Alessio

  • This professor took his cues from the primary

    Accessory to Heligiot.

  • Amazingly done!

I have an Art History AP tomorrow and I'm just taking a break, and I typed in "Giotto" out of curiosity... You are outstanding and eloquent. I wish you had done the whole of Art History.

  • so where's part two???

  • Hey thanks for this. I love the fire and the match comment while honoring Cimabue's contribution. Have you been to the Scrovegni Chapel in Padua and seen the real thing? You will fall to your knees in awe.

  • it's pronounced, "jot-to", not, "Gee-otto".

  • IN BEL VIDEO!

  • I love this. Please do more! Can't wait!!!

  • Great spirit and approach. Clean up your Italian and you'll bring things up a notch. (Giotto= ja-toe, not Gee-auto, and Medici= Meda-chee, not med-dee-chee.) Keep up the passionate work... it's needed, and I look forward to more of your segments.

  • Wow.

If you are not a professor of art history, you sure ought to be.

Your lectures are every bit as good as any I heard at the School of Visual Arts in NYC.
