Come on, some new dubstep is good. When they use influence from this type of dub. Otherwise stated the song consist of more than a osied bass switch being mashed for 90% of the song.
One or two of mt. edens new stuff is old Dubstep style mashed with like trance. I couldn't believe it. There are more and more not well known people who are using this 2 step dub lately. Probably becuase mashing the hell out of an osied switch only works if you got a recognizable name.

Technically evolution doesn't imply anything getting better or worse, since those concepts are subjective. Evolution implies change. More specific: adaption. Simple as that.

@ellipseElkshow I remember when this came out and this generally fitted the mold of 'dubstep' that was being made around that time: generally half-step with dubby basslines. Caspa's rubber chicken was the tune that ushered in all that wobbly crap, from thereon a lot of dubstep was being made in Caspa's mold simply because it worked better in the clubs. I've never rated dubstep, always thought it was a bit shit, but this earlier stuff was when it was at its peak. It's abysmal nowadays.

Seriously, I remember first time I heard these guys, I was like "WTF is this?", it was so fresh and new, especially since D'n'B was becoming complete bullshit then, just like what's happening right now with dubstep. @chrisspley99 . uhm. this is where it began. the 2-step-ish beat, dub influences [delay and reverb and subtle backing ambience] wobbley bass lines that play melodies similar to those in dub and reggae tracks. This be the essence of dubstep. Not sure why so many comment on Youtube without doing any kind of research or having any real reason to do so. @ellipseElkshow I remember when this came out and this generally fitted the mold of 'dubstep' that was being made around that time: generally half-step with dubby basslines. Caspa's rubber chicken was the tune that ushered in all that wobbly crap, from thereon a lot of dubstep was being made in Caspa's mold simply because it worked better in the clubs. I've never rated dubstep, always thought it was a bit shit, but this earlier stuff was when it was at its peak. It's abysmal nowadays.

@djsmurfie Spot on with the rubba chicken moment. Ive got a lot of love for 2005/6 dubstep but I havnt got time for all the bandwagoners after that. Dont get me wrong caspa has produced some absolutely killer tracks, but its rip offs of him and especially rusko that have made dubstep pretty boring.

@ellipseElkshow Ya for real. All the newcomers try to tell me what dubstep is when they have no idea the roots or where it came from. They dont even realize that its in the name. Its 2 step dub(reggae dub) with really unique drums. They dont even realize that back in the day if you listen to skream or the DMZ guys, the wobble often played a minor role to the sub bass. Now it has switched and dubstep is dying because it has strayed so far from its roots.
