cool, i would have no idea how to use that so i would problebly be afraid to push a button , i problebly wouldnt even know what it would have done, i would just be liike "HAHA BUTTONS YES!!!"
MIDI channels are basically a way to have different parts playing on the same synth. The AXiS lets you divide the surface into 3 zones, each of which can be on its own MIDI channel. If your synth allows for multichannel MIDI operation, you could have a piano sound on Channel 1, a bass on 2, and drums on 3, and each part will remain independent of the others, so only the notes that get sent from Zone 1 on Channel 1 (for example) will be played with the piano sound.
Because your keyboard likely only triggers channel 1, if you want different areas to trigger different sounds, you need to find a way to assign those areas other channels.

What does MIDI channel mean? I have a synthesizer and I can't figure out why you would want sounds on different channels.

Thank you for the explanation, but how come on my synthesizer I can't hear all my sounds play unless I put all my programs on the same MIDI channel?

To bad it has no MIDI IN to receive programming information through SysEx messages or something.
