I worked for the now defunct Service Merchandise. The CEO was paid one million dollars to quit. The company eventually filed for bankruptcy. We were promised as employees that if we stuck out the last couple months we would get part of a "fund" of money. So through pure hell I stuck it out and was awarded 200 dollars. The same amount as a worker who worked 30 years and the 16 year girl who was there for 4 months. That same CEO helped close a bunch of K-mart. Ed

I heard this same tale in the meeting with the OC division of the LA Times, and it's just as relevant here - we need fewer overpaid chiefs and let's keep the hardworking indians.
