  • For a J-Body, 150 horsepower would have been nothing to sneeze at. My Mom had an Oldsmobile Firenza with the base 2.0L engine...it didn't set the world on fire, but it was pretty peppy most of the time.

  • the transmission on the 1982-1988 Pontiac J2000

    Transmission

    4-speed manual

    5-speed manual

    3-speed automatic

  • It's no wonder GM was about to fold.... It produced crap like this for 30 years. Even now they can't compete with Japanese & Korean imports... Even ford has them beat... Though they are outpacing chyrsler.... The worst American car company.

  • (I'm driving a sunbird?) OH YEAH!

  • Dam they took the awsome lights/front end off the late 70s trans am - made it look shittier for the 80s & slapped it on that lol

  • Haha awesome

  • My mother used to own a 1983 Pontiac 2000 and it was a POS, it was the base 2.0 Liter engine, you don't see too many of these cars around anymore

  • @Doobie1975 Why was it a POS

  • @Doobie1975 The engine went out before 100K miles and we also had problems with the head gaskets.

  • I had one, my first brand new car.

  • man that's kind of crappy that they put turbo on it and it still only has 150 hp. With a turbo it should have 250 hp.

  • @voltron821 That's because the 80s wasn't a friendly era for power and performance, of course the cars from the 80s are much lighter than today's vehicles

  • i was just waiting for that thing to transform into a robot.

  • 1992 pontiac sunbird SE 2.0L , siezed at 317,803. i want another one damnit!!!!!

  • '

what is 2 big different between sunbird VS thunderbird

  • ohh yeahhh

  • Daddy, what's a Pontiac?

  • @jazzfan19605

Yeah the fact they cancelled pontiac sucks. I have a Trans Am that i will be keeping for a long long time.

  • @pdennis93 What year? or is it a secret.

  • @jazzfan19605 It's a black 1995 with the ram air setup from a 1996-1997 WS6.

  • @jazzfan19605 i will well inform my kids

  • These were pretty good on safety at the time too.

  • 2000? They were 16 years early... I suppose let's start advertising 2026 cars... LOL :)

  • I had one of these 10 years ago. 1984 2-door, 4 speed. Very rusty, but ran great, and the turbo still worked excellent for it being a 15 year old car at the time. Bought it for $400 for transportation while the transmission was being rebuilt in my other car. Ended up keeping it for 2 years, then traded it in on a GMC Safari. Kind of wish I still had it.

  • They sped up that clip of it going around the corner considerably because at that speed the porpoising would have certainly made you lose control and go through the guardrail.

  • Gunna miss them.

  • Hello, torque steer! These things were actually fairly potent at the time, but when the boost hit it would yank the car right toward the ditch...

  • lol, i still have a convertable that i had in in high school, i restored engine and all but ur right, when boost hits, hold on or u will be heading will change lanesin the blink of an eye, but faster than most 4 cyl cars on the road today

  • "Oh yeah!"

    These were great little cars.

  • i know i love them these are great cars!! hey did you ever own one??

  • I had an '84 Cavalier convertible with F-41 suspension. Same car, different emblems.
