For a J-Body, 150 horsepower would have been nothing to sneeze at. My Mom had an Oldsmobile Firenza with the base 2.0L engine...it didn't set the world on fire, but it was pretty peppy most of the time.
It's no wonder GM was about to fold.... It produced crap like this for 30 years. Even now they can't compete with Japanese & Korean imports... Even ford has them beat... Though they are outpacing chyrsler.... The worst American car company.
@voltron821 That's because the 80s wasn't a friendly era for power and performance, of course the cars from the 80s are much lighter than today's vehicles
I had one of these 10 years ago. 1984 2-door, 4 speed. Very rusty, but ran great, and the turbo still worked excellent for it being a 15 year old car at the time. Bought it for $400 for transportation while the transmission was being rebuilt in my other car. Ended up keeping it for 2 years, then traded it in on a GMC Safari. Kind of wish I still had it.
They sped up that clip of it going around the corner considerably because at that speed the porpoising would have certainly made you lose control and go through the guardrail.
lol, i still have a convertable that i had in in high school, i restored engine and all but ur right, when boost hits, hold on or u will be heading will change lanesin the blink of an eye, but faster than most 4 cyl cars on the road today

My mother used to own a 1983 Pontiac 2000 and it was a POS, it was the base 2.0 Liter engine, you don't see too many of these cars around anymore
Doobie1975 9 months ago
@Doobie1975 Why was it a POS
jakesaintsrow123 6 months ago
@Doobie1975 The engine went out before 100K miles and we also had problems with the head gaskets.

man that's kind of crappy that they put turbo on it and it still only has 150 hp. With a turbo it should have 250 hp.

Hello, torque steer! These things were actually fairly potent at the time, but when the boost hit it would yank the car right toward the ditch...
