  • I ALSO took the train from Chongqing to Guangzhou and wasn't aware it would take 36 hours. That was a rude surprise. I had to endure a hard sleeper as well.

Towards the end I wondered if we were taking a few detours through the Gobi Desert.

  • dude you took a 36 hour train ride from guanzhou to chongqing?!?

our train ride was 36 hours from beijing to chongqing, but the distance we took is MUCH longer

  • whats so hard about spending so much time on a train.

I am from USA and me and my friend traveled around china 2 times.

Bring a book, a laptop, and something to learn chinese with. Like a DS - with MY chinese coach.

it seems like you worry too much and drive yourself insane.

Riding on trains is great, just live the slow peaceful life of the chinese, dont live like a foreigner.

I would maybe even go as far as calling you a pussy.

Where you gona stay? where to go? is that a joke?

    $5 a night

  • what a long trip

  • 36 hours, did you get on a PuKe class train that stops at every little station and never go over 100km/hr?

those trains are good for stopping over at small town or travel with in the province, but it's just painful to long term rides
