@MooseTrek1 Of course we don't follow a lot of those commands b/c they were part of the Old Covenant with Israel. Christians are under the New Covenant. Many of those commands were to foreshadow spiritual truths fulfilled later in Jesus Christ. They have been fulfilled, so we don't follow them.

There are 2 parts in (Cor 6:9-10) That have been mistranslated in different ways in different Bibles. Some have taken the word effeminate, and changed it to homosexuals. When the closer translation is soft or weak.
The other part is " nor abusers of themselves with mankind " Has been changed to mean homosexuals, when that verse was written, it was referring to Pagan prostitutes having sex and mutilating themselves to appease their false gods.
Why have these parts have been incorrectly changed to mean homosexuality, a word that did not even exist back then? And why have they been changed to mean something they were never meant to mean in the first place?

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it is essentially good that a non-Christian official is willing to receive prayer upon their inauguration into public office in a non-Christian role. I am a Christian, and I hope that I am totally committed to the truth of the Word of God. However, on this one I'm with Joel (very uncharacteristic, trust me!) That is because being a mayor is not a religious office. The Bible makes it clear that homosexuality transgresses God's law - but so does living within a sexual heterosexual relationship outside marriage. What I think about this is that at least Joel is inviting God into the situation - and it's great that she is receiving the prayer.

@MooseTrek1 Of course we don't follow a lot of those commands b/c they were part of the Old Covenant with Israel. Christians are under the New Covenant. Many of those commands were to foreshadow spiritual truths fulfilled later in Jesus Christ. They have been fulfilled, so we don't follow them.
But God's moral commands (do not murder, commit adultery, steal, rape, fornicate, commit homosexual acts, lust, kidnap, etc) never end and are repeated in the New Testament(Covenant).

There are 2 parts in (Cor 6:9-10) That have been mistranslated in different ways in different Bibles. Some have taken the word effeminate, and changed it to homosexuals. When the closer translation is soft or weak.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it is essentially good that a non-Christian official is willing to receive prayer upon their inauguration into public office in a non-Christian role. Now, she's not a Christian, and her sexuality is just one way that her lack of faith is being expressed. If she were being inaugurated as a Church pastor, that would be VERY different. Let's hope from this that God continues to work in her life to claim her (and her partner!) fully for Christ

I am a Christian, and I hope that I am totally committed to the truth of the Word of God. However, on this one I'm with Joel (very uncharacteristic, trust me!) That is because being a mayor is not a religious office. The Bible makes it clear that homosexuality transgresses God's law - but so does living within a sexual heterosexual relationship outside marriage. What I think about this is that at least Joel is inviting God into the situation - and it's great that she is receiving the prayer.
