In the 80s, the USA network was actually pretty raunchy. I got away with watching a lot of bawdy movies without my parents knowing. The USA network is no where near where it use to be. It was fun tv back then
USA network is so lame now. All they air is NBC leftovers. The programmers have no taste in television. They are tone deaf as far as knowing what people want to see.
Oh, I DO so agree!!! Not just USA, but ALL networks were "cool". MTV was MUSIC television. Does anyone realize today that A&E stands for Arts & Entertainment??? Not since the 80's has anything artisic aired on that network. "Sci-Fi Channel" still aired the original Star Trek series. CNN actually broadcast 24 hours of hard news. Oh, for a time machine...I'd set the dial for the mid-80's and never come back!
You left off the "A". Arts programming disappeared from that network in the late 80's and never came back. I like the programs you mentioned, my point was that few cable networks air what they originally claimed their network was about. TV Land now shows reality programs...as if we couldn't get that anywhere else. They are all morphing into the same network.
I think slightly later (but only slightly). Memory fades with time, but I think if it were 85-88, USA's "Night Flight" marathon overnight show would have been included since that was USA's signature program.

Man I think the only things missing were promos for Up All Night and Prime Time Wrestling. I miss those days.

Man, I couldn't agree with you more.
Unfortunately it's not just USA. There were so many great channels in the 80's and early 90's.
MTV was so kick ass in the 80's now that channel is such a piece of shit!
USA is in the same boat.
I think The USA Network should make a sister channel called USA Network Classic, and play these old shows.
How great were weekends on USA? Saturday Nightmares, Night Flight, Commander USA, Up All Night.
You could watch till 4AM every weekend!

You're actually lucky. You should try watcing German ZDF Television. uugghh Or the BBC.
Things might have been better in past but American television is still best on planet earth.

@baddog7676 Man I couldn't agree more. If there was a channel like that I'd pay to have it.
I'd want them to keep all of the same shit though. Promos, commercials, narrators, everything.
I LOVED this channel when I was younger

I loved USA Network back in the day but you don't have the right to say whether USA Network is cool or not.

I agree with you. USA was actually worth watching back in the late eighties and early nineties! The USA Afternoon Game Show Block! Ah, what memories!

Wasn't Monster Vision on USA? And they had Ronda up all night and Gilbert Godfrey. Ronda had a huge rack...

Monster Vision was TNT.

You're thinking of 'USA Up All Night.' 'MonsterVision' was shown on TNT as well as '100% Weird' (anyone remember that?)

Oh man, I remember "Make Me Laugh" as a kid!
I used to play that shit with my friends.
Whatever happened to TV networks anyway?
TV sucks ass today!

Well A&E stands for Entertainment. In the 90s they aired good reruns which was Entertianment like Mike Hammer and the cult classic Buffalo Bill etc.

Agreed. Fortunately, there is at least one network which still adheres to its original purpose: Turner Classic Movies.
That's why it remains the best cable network.

These promos would all date from around 1985-88, if I am not mistaken (particularly the one for "Make Me Laugh").
