  • @AHappyPumkin The pumping of the pistons turns the gas/air mixture into motion. It's called an internal combustion engine that uses a four-stroke combustion cycle. The four steps/strokes allow a given ratio of mixed gas and air into the cylinder. The piston moves upward compressing the mixture. When the piston reaches the peak of its upward motion it hits the spark plug igniting the gas/air mixture. After that process the exhaust valve allows the mixture to exit the car through the tailpipe.

  • @AHappyPumkin The process is repeated and the revolving motion makes the car move. The turning of the crankshafts connected to the pistons by the connecting rods also allow the wheels to turn.
