Why the fuck are they bringing logic to a B movie? Didn't Ebert write a stupid B movie? Jesus who cares just enjoy the film. If it's not enjoyable then that is a reasonable critique.
First of all Tremors didn't go over "world wide" with audiences but got a great response once it came out on video... great movie and grossly underrated .
Yet another film that they bashed in its original release but praised when other Horror comedies came out. These guys were flaky critics who vary rarely gave a review based on what they learned in film school.
they kind of ruined the twist of the movie in this review. In the first half of the first act, all we see is little tubes. So we think they are small and we can handle them. When they are revealed to be huge and monstrous. it takes the movie into a different level. what a classic film and a classic franchise.
what is up with the vicious Ebert-haters? Strangest thing I've seen on youtube....this little army of trolls hating on ... a film critic?? I just ... I don't get it
This movie was very good. A send-up to old time b-movies but with big Hollywood style and lots of entertainment! It may not be masterpiece but it was a lot of fun.
The worms were blind , but they could sense vibrations, and travel through dirt. So while traveling through dirt, it's technically wrong to see that, because the worms were blind? Perhaps us looking at a black screen with rustling dirt and a tuning fork would have made more sense? Movies are visual... Maybe another movie where a blind man speaks, they should go black screen to get his point of view? Nonsense, Ebert didn't know what he was talking about... "Tremors" was great, and FUN!
How can people hate this movie? Its a great horror comedy that has fantastic gags and great special effects. Anyone who hates it (if there IS anyone) can suck my big hairy pair.
how are the POV shots technical errors? POV shots are for the sake of the audience in that they show where the monsters are headed to create suspence. they're not intended to depict sightless creatures as seeing. he boasts about being a college educated adult, yet he fails to understand a filmmaking concept most 10 year olds get.
I didn't like this movie, i remember driving a friend of mine to the movie theater to see this movie, she went into the movie theater while i waited for her in the car, about an hour later, my friend came back, got into my car, and we drove off, she told me that it was scarey.
Tremors is a damn near classic. I mean its just packed with humor and a great cast of actors. The scene in the basement that they mentioned is one of my favorite movie moments of all time.
Gene must have seen the wrong movie. "The worm explodes before it should explode" wtf is he talkin about? "There are many many flaws in this movie? NO! This movie is 100% genius and amazing. Its absolutly perfect in every way possible. And so are the sequels...
Ebert does ask legitimate questions. What were the Worms doing in the meantime and why did they appear and why four? I know more of them show up later in the sequels but why did they suddenly return after all of that?
Tremors is a great example of a dumb smart movie. it blends a few different genres, and knows exactly what it's doing, while maintaining the facade of a silly creature feature.
i like the fact that ebert takes the idea of relativity to his reviews...ya, tremors is no citizen kane, but for its purpose (to be a dumb, b-movie horror comedy) it serves its purpose...its just a dumb movie to watch for fun on a friday night with friends a case of beer LOL
it's funny seeing people trying to seriously analyze a movie with a #1 priority to not take itself seriously. i hate horror movies, but I love Tremors because it knows how lame it seems and capitalizes on it, and it's awesome because of that.
Critics think way too hard about movies sometimes. Tremors is a good time and shouldn't be taken too seriously. Arguing about POV shots with creatures that are blind.... Sheesh
generally theyre being pretty fair... ebert himself said it was 'goofy, dumb fun movie" as a good thing. they both liked all kinds of movies from arty stuff to b-movie kinda stuff like Tremors- i bet Ebert was the only critic of his age to recommend Devils Rejects a few years back! :)
