Can someone explain me why Beethoven is said to be a German but Mozart isn't although BOTH of them regarded themselves as part of the German nation during their lifetime? Until 1945, all German-speaking people in the entire universe -- Austrians, Saxons, Swiss, Luxembourgers etc. -- thought of themselves as part of one nation defined by culture and heritage ("Deutschland"). That may have changed but the past hasn't--yet, political correctness tries to change it. Otherwise great video!
When you put part 2 of the 'Great Composers - Germans/Autrians/Swiss' together, you must try and include something by JOSEPH MARX, who was in many respects the equal of Richard Strauss. It would be great if you also included excerpts of pieces by MAX REGER and FRANZ SCHMIDT among others...
Absolutely amazing music! I love Mendhelsshon's music! Beethoven's music as well, all of it is amazing! I love Mozart's Requiem. Possibly my favourite piece that Mozart wrote. Bruckner's 4th Symphony, amazing! Beautiful melody in Brahms' 3rd Symphony. The Mahler 5th symphony excerpt, beautiful! Schumann, amazing!
The 5th Hungarian Dance isn't by Brahms or even a traditional folk song but by Kéler Béla, a contemporary of Brahms.
