Microsoft Points is a marketing technique so the buyers don't know how much they are really paying for things since they are using "Microsoft Point", and if the buyers knew what they were paying, people wouldn't ever buy things from Microsoft marketplace so i doubt this rumor is true, although i would like to see it happen, i doubt it will happen

Even if they switched to real dollars, they'd almost certainly continue selling points in stores, only they'd be "Microsoft Dollars/Credit" instead, and would appear as money when you entered the code. Despite what you think Andrea, Microsoft Points are actually quite popular with the Xbox community. It may seem like a rip-off, but it actually works well. You can find Microsoft Points cheaper on Amazon than you do from Xbox Live itself which is the reason why I personally love the system. It's cheaper than the alternative PS3 system.
