Wow is that all you guys care abt, FWD or RWD? No, in terms of speed this car cannot beat a Lexus ISF and damn sure not an M3. But not everyone has to have a ton of hp so they can go be an idiot and drag race a quarter mile. Bottom line is the TSX is a very reliable car, gets great mpg, and will last a long time. In terms of money and practicality the TSX is a damn good choice.
Just my two cents, but I think the executives from Acura werent really looking for "performance" when they made the TSX. I mean the old K24 engine is already a big powerplant to the rest of the world besides the U.S. where v8's and torque is about the only thing ignorant car buyers look for. I love power and have owned a ls1 GTO, but at the end of the day i sold it since driving everyday with a car with nearly 400HP and making 15MPG just wasnt practical.Im not on track when I go to work and back
"besides the U.S. where v8's and torque is about the only thing ignorant car buyers look for."
Do you realize how dumb that sounds. You are ignorant for saying something like that. I bet you think horsepower per liter is the most important concept of engines, huh?
not all acuras have fwd they also provide you awd which works like the awd in gtr so its more fun than rear wheel drive. shut your mouth you you idiots go and look at your bmws biult quality they are like made in china. and the front end of the new 5 series is like a two year old child smiling and his teeth fallen down. thumbs up if you kike
To much torque steer to compete with the 3 series or Audi on the track, but where the Acura wins is in the pocket book. This TSX offers more standard features for the money then any BMW or Audi, and it is more reliable. I can quote Consumer Reports and JD Power & Assoc, and also speak from first hand experience with my previous A4 that took 3 K to fix in only a yr. FWD is much better in wet weather then RWD, and with Acura's stability control system, cornering will be great to the average owner.
i have this car, and in no way does it resemble a 3 series or even close to the drive as a bimmer.
It's very nose heavy, and the eletric steering is numb as hell.
I like this car, very good daily driver, but there is a reason why Acura priced this FWD semi luxury compact sedan cheaper than a 3 series, C class or A4.
The fact is that power seats and tele steering wheel provide a roomier environment to its drivers and offers more options..Sun roofs and navi are simply standards in my opinion as it comes to a luxurious sedan, it would look okay but kinda awkward to have one of those small Magellan or TomTom on your 35K car windshield. Moreover, I guess putting a SH-AWD on a TSX loses its meaning of filling into a special niche that it was meant to be. And a would prefer the ZDX over a TSX turbo AWD wagon..
I've said this a few times but give me a TSX with a turbo 4 and a 6 spd with SHAWD - no Nav no sunroof, no power seats, no 650 watt stereo- make it a 5 door/Estate/Touring/Avant ("""Wagon"""" for the uncultured North Americans) and you'll raise my eyebrow...otherwise it's just an appliance.
Fwd, just hearing it makes me angry, if im going to pay the extra 10000 for a Honda accord thats only difference is A's inted of H's i want RWD. The extra 10000 gos to Nothing, most accords anymore are leather, navi, etc. Acura tsx is just a over priced accord. Oh and its alot uglier than the accord.
Don't listen to those who tell u XXXXX is going to leave your TSX in the dust....Wait until they drive that fast then talk..!! Talk in reality not just a closed circuit..Cops are around..
1006 you make good points - 95-98% of most peoples driving is sitting in traffic where an automatic and "properly" padded arm rests on the door panels and center arrm rest mean more than 0-60 and slalom/G's forces...but I still think the turbo 4 makes sense over a V6 in a TSX.
For me, what are the most important factors when I see of a car??
Price (Ratio with what you can get out of it), reliability (always) and appearance.
To me the TSX does stand a chance. It is cheaper than IS b/c its FWD, yes, but if you are not one of those who has a G 37, Z, IS 350, TL, etc but still keep driving 75 miles per hour and not willing to changing your lean and does a lot of city driving, then TSX is a nice choice..
You guys are cracking up..I drive on the turnpike very week and look around..those cars that fly by you aren't always the so-called "cars with decent performance". In contrast, those cars are either old, modified, or just simple reckless drivers..How many of you really even hit 100MPH? besides me? somex, I don't understand a 0-60 acceleration or Max HP is tat important if those rich people don't even step on the gas and keep driving on the right lane after they buy cars with high torque and HP.
I have no idea why people are so stupid about something so evident. TSX offers 32000 (somewhere around there) with the tech package, and what about A4? 328?335?IS 250? 32k can merely get you a base car without many features that the TSX is offering. This is the advantage! I love the features and reliability TSX has, and I can't think anything else besides its low torque and hp, but after all, any V6 could deliver something stronger, but they don't have what TSX does.
The problem is, in the end, this car still won't perform when it comes down to it. All these cars are modder platforms, and believe it or not, these automakers do acknowledge that. It's cheaper because it's front wheel drive. It's probably got about a 60/40 F/R ratio. It doesn't perform. It may be quick, but only in a line. The AWD on the other hand is a different story...
The TSX should remain as a light weight alternative to the ugly bling bling TL...both aren't particularly pretty compared the last generation but a "turbo four" and tighter size would serve the TSX well...the V6 in there blurs the distinction between the two models...
in reality , the TSX looks much better, bt to compete against BMW or lexus, they need to go RWD or SH-AHW they have. .. i hv test driven 09 TSX with V4 and power distribution is god in start bt lacks later on whn u push it.. i hope V6 will solve thiw and give more thrill.. in terms of safety and comfort, they are already ahead of competitors.
im surprised they put the same 3.5L engine the TL has in it, i was expecting maybe the 3.2L from the older TLs so that there would not be cross competition within the acura lineup.
anyways, give me that intake manifold (0:21) for my 3.2L TL thats on that new TSX
tsx will last you 10 years while the a4 will bankrupt you in 5 years. audi entry level is shit. if you aint fukin with s4 or a6 and a8 you aint doing shit. same goes for 3 series bmw. complete jetta garbage
Imagine how much better it would be if they added all that plus a subtle special ground effects kit, lightly smoked head and tail lights, and most importantly, SH-AWD. That's especially considering the TL SH-AWD actually handles amazingly well, which I didn't expect, nor did its critics.
As is, it will be very competitive against other FWD entry luxury sportish sedans, such as the Maxima 3.5SV Sport, MKZ Sport, and CC VR6.
Hey Mr Cool I agree...but there is so much potential here. Acura has chosen their apponents well, but the styling should be between what we see now and what the prev gen established....split it 50/50 and I can live with that.
Drop the RDX's turbo four in there with SH-AWD in a wagon version - now that would rock!!!. In a sedan or wagon form with the T4 it would steal sales from the TL and the useless RDX SUV thing. It would certainly raise the eyebrow of Audi with their S4 Avant and BMW's 328Xi Touring fro less dough...Bring on the sport wagons Acura I dare ya! The V6 TSX is just plain dumb.
if u guys think about it 280 horses on a front wheel drive is monstrous! cause if u have to much power in a front wheel drive car ull have no traction in the snow front wheels are alot better acura is more concern about luxury and safety then performance honda is all about safety
The V6 Acura TSX is a basically the 08 TL. Which in my opinion is stupid. They should have dropped the Inline4 Turbo Engine instead of the V6, which would make the car better. Also when the guy in video said, better compete with Lexus' IS? How so? The TSX (inline4) is already faster than the Lexus IS250, but not IS350. Even with this power improvement it's still not faster than the IS350.
There is no reason why people should complain that it's a Honda, if you like the bmw 3 series better then go look at those videos. For those that dont know a 2009 328i comes with a 3.0 liter 230 hp 6 cylinder engine which is worst than the new tsx engine so dont talk shit unless your informed!
Nice styling. Acura seriously needs to improve it's performance though. You just don't get enough power for what you pay for, from ANY model that they make. It will be nice to see the NSX resurrected.
jesus christ, this is a honda you morons. it is the honda accord. all acura does is throw some leather on it and says "look! now it's just as good as a bmw!"
it's got 280 bhp!?! that's 60 more than what most experts believe to be the limit a front wheel drive car can handle.
even in accord trim in EU, it is still 3 series competitor. Some magazine even quoted it's between 3 series handling and Audi A4 comfort. But yes, V6 FWD is gay
Oh...so you are the stereotype who yaps about 'it sucks because it's a Honda' Never mind then. I suppose no matter how much more cow they kill and gizmo they stuff than the BMW, it still won't comvince you...
All I'm saying is performance wise, you simply don't get enough for what you pay for. It IS a nice car but the performance is unacceptable for the money. Nice car though.
no you're wrong. my respect for hondas is boundless... from a reliability standpoint, they're fantastic. but in the us, hondas are a bit boring. they don't really handle well, and you have to rev the nuts off them to get any power.
i just think that in terms of luxury, bmw know more than honda. anyway, isn't the 3 series about $10,000 more than an accord?
This is only going to compete with the Lexus ES350 which is also FWD. Definitely not a BMW 3 series. Acura's are the luxury brand of Honda and need to be RWD!
If they want to offer AWD, that's fine but as an option and RWD as standard. No more FWD Acuras please!
I just don't get it. Why does Honda/Acura continue with front wheel drive platform for the majority of its lineup? Last I checked, they have built their sporty reputation on F1 and other racing programs. Are those racing cars front wheel drive? I think they're just boneheaded not to go for rear wheel drive. In fact, they have been for the last few decades. What are they smoking? Fumes from corporate insurance money?
"Cheaper", "more practical", "sounding right"...Those things are just irrelevant in terms of actual driving dynamics of a car. There's no f'g way a FWD car could be as nimble as a RWD car. It's just the laws of physics, buddy. And another thing: The front weight bias of FWD also makes the steering feel unnatural and numb. Other than serving the auto manufacturers' need for cost-cutting and producing politically correct cars, I don't see a single advantage for FWD in fun-to-drive category.
I'm not sure but maybe Honda just doesn't have enough experience in that field.
That's R&D money into a new RWD platform, transmission and then getting it to "feel right". To Honda, an Acura feels right because the handling abilities feel similar to a Honda's FWD or S-AWD systems (though slightly tweaked). I think they want a high revving V6 like the S2000's high revving i4 but haven't any clue, or heritage in that market segment.
While it may be true that Honda doesn't possess a rich "heritage" in terms of RWD cars, I do not believe it's the matter of lacking the necessary technology. They produced cars like NSX many years ago, which was hailed as the best handling car in the world. And needless to say, it was a RWD car. Even Nissan/Infiniti can produce RWD cars that are highly touted, if not exactly with BMW's' refinement. I think it's Honda that could shock the world in sport sedan world if they had really wanted to.
@dre5491 WTH is an ITR? Besides, just why is it that you try to glorify FWD when it's widely deemed inferior in handling, balance and steering response to RWD? I've never heard any automotive expert who prefers FWD to RWD. Have you?
Yea i second that. I was a fan for a long time. I guess its not time to move on to other makes.
Hyundai, Suzuki, BMW and even Ford is making some sick stuff for 2010 now. I cant wait the ideas there coming out with are getting slightly better and better. Now can anyone finally bring out a great mpg sport sedan yet?
I like BMW, but I like the Audi's more, especially the new A4, and i love the Q7. Hyundia is really stepping it up. Ford is trying so hard, so i give them kudos. Hopefully they'll be a little smarter. Haha, The audi a4 gets pretty good mpg, but, the real question is can they make it in the price range of a accord.
are you retarded? ive been to the car show, and seen a few on the streets, everyhtinggg, i mean EVERYTHING on that car is nice, Except the front. butt ugly.
umm read ur facts before u come at me wrong...nothing about the 3 series interior is nice!!..that car sucks...tsx is way better..like i said read up on your FACTS
never said anything about a 3 series, i'm not a bmw guy, i like the audi a4, and acura has nothing on audi, and the passat is much better. the passat is so much better, and its even under 30 grand, dont tell me what to do
As much as I like Acuras/Hondas, I just don't understand their stubborn decision to continue making the TSX a FWD instead of a RWD/AWD. As someone else had mentioned, unless a RWD configuration, bi-xenon lights and 50-50 weight distribution is achieved, the TSX will never be as a good as a 3 series.
Yeah seriously. It's like Acura wants their own models to compete against each other in a death match or something. By the time the salespeople get done explaining the difference between the three models, the customer will have already bought and signed the papers to a BMW 7 series (or insert your own non-Acura model here). Holy crap!!!
it needs SH-AWD, bi-xenon lights, LED tailights and 50:50 weight distribution - THEN Acura will have a 3-series competitor. C'MON HONDA, I'M ROOTIN' FOR YA!
better than a 3 series? no. but it is a good competitor to the lexus and the audi to some extent. good work acura, but it is about time for a rwd version.
What North America gets as the TSX is the European version of the Honda Accord. I don't expect the Accord will go RWD and therefore nither will the TSX
it actually beat the 3 series in a recent study against the lexus,a4 and 3 series..it beat all 3 over all...BMW's dont get good until u get to the 7 series
Japanese created these fake brands because there were people saying: "well, I won't be driving that, I won't buy it. It's only a Nissan/Toyota/Honda."
Too bad... Acuras were really going somewhere with their designs in the past years but now this definetly ruined it for them... I mean it looks like a messed up car in the shape of a duck.

it's quite an irony that Honda is the ones that are FWD obsessive but not the one who invented the RevoKnuckle
TangoR34 2 years ago
This is only going to compete with the Lexus ES350 which is also FWD. Definitely not a BMW 3 series. Acura's are the luxury brand of Honda and need to be RWD!
If they want to offer AWD, that's fine but as an option and RWD as standard. No more FWD Acuras please!
adogg619 2 years ago 4
Pontiac G8? lol I'm sure this Acura is gonna be way more luxurious and it looks better too.

Other than serving the auto manufacturers' need for cost-cutting and producing politically correct cars, I don't see a single advantage for FWD in fun-to-drive category.
tenergyforce 2 years ago 20
I'm not sure but maybe Honda just doesn't have enough experience in that field.
That's R&D money into a new RWD platform, transmission and then getting it to "feel right". To Honda, an Acura feels right because the handling abilities feel similar to a Honda's FWD or S-AWD systems (though slightly tweaked). I think they want a high revving V6 like the S2000's high revving i4 but haven't any clue, or heritage in that market segment.
LOLitsJono 2 years ago
While it may be true that Honda doesn't possess a rich "heritage" in terms of RWD cars, I do not believe it's the matter of lacking the necessary technology. They produced cars like NSX many years ago, which was hailed as the best handling car in the world. And needless to say, it was a RWD car. Even Nissan/Infiniti can produce RWD cars that are highly touted, if not exactly with BMW's' refinement. I think it's Honda that could shock the world in sport sedan world if they had really wanted to.

@tenergyforce Really? Drive an ITR which will out handle lots of RWDs...
dre5491 1 year ago
@dre5491 WTH is an ITR? Besides, just why is it that you try to glorify FWD when it's widely deemed inferior in handling, balance and steering response to RWD? I've never heard any automotive expert who prefers FWD to RWD. Have you?

i love acura's, well not anymore, their face is but ugly now, jeez.
alex49698 2 years ago
Yea i second that. I was a fan for a long time. I guess its not time to move on to other makes.
Hyundai, Suzuki, BMW and even Ford is making some sick stuff for 2010 now. I cant wait the ideas there coming out with are getting slightly better and better. Now can anyone finally bring out a great mpg sport sedan yet?
SourGrey 2 years ago
I like BMW, but I like the Audi's more, especially the new A4, and i love the Q7. Hyundia is really stepping it up. Ford is trying so hard, so i give them kudos. Hopefully they'll be a little smarter. Haha, The audi a4 gets pretty good mpg, but, the real question is can they make it in the price range of a accord.
alex49698 2 years ago
Yea well said.

alex49698 2 years ago 2
umm read ur facts before u come at me wrong...nothing about the 3 series interior is nice!!..that car sucks...tsx is way better..like i said read up on your FACTS
uptdc2008 2 years ago
never said anything about a 3 series, i'm not a bmw guy, i like the audi a4, and acura has nothing on audi, and the passat is much better. the passat is so much better, and its even under 30 grand, dont tell me what to do
alex49698 2 years ago
hm.... i am not too sure of the market value of the V6 TSX...
i would be satisfied if Honda/Acura would start producing some rwd or sh-awd models and put v6 on those...
i think accord v6 would do better than TSX v6 lol....

we want the RSX!! we want the RSX!!

FWD is nice up here during the winter time when there is crazy amounts of snow but other than that I agree with you guys.

sure, the V6 version of the TSX is pretty good, but its not as good as the germans and japanese.

markguerra1 2 years ago
As much as I like Acuras/Hondas, I just don't understand their stubborn decision to continue making the TSX a FWD instead of a RWD/AWD. As someone else had mentioned, unless a RWD configuration, bi-xenon lights and 50-50 weight distribution is achieved, the TSX will never be as a good as a 3 series.
slick0181 2 years ago 7
So now the TSX, TL and RL have a large V6 engine with similar HP and different prices... That makes a lot of sense-
NOT!
broadbent48 2 years ago 2
They are different size cars
stryfe420 2 years ago
Yeah seriously. It's like Acura wants their own models to compete against each other in a death match or something. By the time the salespeople get done explaining the difference between the three models, the customer will have already bought and signed the papers to a BMW 7 series (or insert your own non-Acura model here). Holy crap!!!
ricepaddy69 2 years ago
You said it!
broadbent48 2 years ago
Look at it this way:
TSX = 3 Series = C Class = A4
TL = 5 Series = E Class = A6
RL = 7 Series = S Class = A8
All the luxury manufacturers do the same thing. The higher end Acuras may not make the same huge horsepower but they're a lot cheaper too.
stryfe420 2 years ago 3
Well said, and you get more of a car for the money when you buy honda/acura.
stryker95th 2 years ago 2
I am a Acura fan but its a little late to talk shit now lol, should have done that earlier... WAKE UP!
Nickjag007 2 years ago
it needs SH-AWD, bi-xenon lights, LED tailights and 50:50 weight distribution - THEN Acura will have a 3-series competitor. C'MON HONDA, I'M ROOTIN' FOR YA!
ironchopsticks 3 years ago 11
seconded!

totally agree
hector64 2 years ago
AGREED? but if that, the price will def go up? For the different amount of money, I think Acura is offering us something different.
1006Will 2 years ago
better than a 3 series? no. but it is a good competitor to the lexus and the audi to some extent. good work acura, but it is about time for a rwd version.
kubomon17 3 years ago 2
What North America gets as the TSX is the European version of the Honda Accord. I don't expect the Accord will go RWD and therefore nither will the TSX
stryfe420 2 years ago
it actually beat the 3 series in a recent study against the lexus,a4 and 3 series..it beat all 3 over all...BMW's dont get good until u get to the 7 series
uptdc2008 2 years ago
I like it better with the Honda Accord badge... for some reason it looks a lot more appealing in Europe :)
mrjost55 3 years ago 2
Japanese created these fake brands because there were people saying: "well, I won't be driving that, I won't buy it. It's only a Nissan/Toyota/Honda."
sspope 3 years ago
Too bad... Acuras were really going somewhere with their designs in the past years but now this definetly ruined it for them... I mean it looks like a messed up car in the shape of a duck.
