No wait...scratch that. I think what the costume does for you is give false psycological belief that you are invincible (simply you don't think you'll get hurt, all you care about is believing that you can do good AND YOU DO IT).
@lst1195 well...average citizens probably won't bother to help that old lady, but maybe stare and feel bad. Maybe they'll call the cops or try to find one standing nearby. Citizens don't really want to get involved with REAL LIFE situations. They're scared usually.

Yes, I know you superheroes actually spend a good investment of your time into patrolling the streets. Had the chance to meet one of you guys (Not going to reveal names for safety's sake) and of course I chose not to join...or yet join...
But point is, you'd never do violence like in watchmen to solve cases...
@YangSword9x Oh, I misunderstood you. No I don't think I'll be waterboarding a RLSV anytime soon to interogate them. But like I said that's pretty much a dead subculture anyways from what I gather. anyway if you are out there patrolling though & you see some guy beating on a old lady or something you have every right to defend her life like any other citizen. Actually you just made me think, basically what we do is what every citizen should be doing, but with more color & enthusiasim. :)
@YangSword9x Uh actually The real Superheroes do a ton of stuff, We patrol all the time & do charity work, Why would we be put in jail for preventing a crime? it's the RLSV that really don't do anything but critisize, but that's pretty much a dead subculture now anyways. Their whole goal was to try & stop us from helping people by trying to embarass us or something. It failed, they quit.

BTW, having folks say "ham" instead of "cheese" when taking their picture seems to get bigger smiles. That may only work after they've seen this clip, however. :-)
the world cancer research center is telling everyone not to eat ham and salami, and want them actually banned to the market because they now have definite proof it causes bowel cancer and other cancers. bacon and sausage should be limited too.

I don't think real life super heroes or villains are gonna do anything out of line because they would be put in jail.
So I guess its safe to say they are not gonna get hurt, except if thugs shoot them...
The best they can do is use the Amendment to attack each other, "1st Amendment: Freedom of Speech".
