  • putting chester on the map!

  • Great band! Loved them. But you can see that they had to save the money on the videos after taxloss!!!

  • Yes, like some people here have said, one of the underrated bands of the 90´s. A really good band and different enough to be interesting. Maybe too different for the media and larger population...

  • I loved this song but the album version is much better. A seriously underrated band!

  • Northgate Area in Chester!

  • this band were fantastic live ,see them at the kilburn national 30th april 1997, but unlike a lot of bands they stopped at the top of there game and didn't go on and on and on for years like oasis, u2, the stones, and mean nothing. make your point and know when to finish,

  • mansun are so good they invented eddie izzard ;-P

  • i just can't decide which version is better....

    really like both of them

  • so many memories :)

  • The album version is miles better imo.

  • @thehaikuband

Ya six from the album was way better and more interesting but this version is nice a synth version; which is very funny to actually see the boys here trying to pretend they are playing their guitars whilst all you hear is synth sounds

  • These were great days, not like the shite being released by bands now

  • sweet version

  • Such a lame video when you consider 'Six' was a concept album - but light years ahead of their time, as always with great bands - they need to reform, the british music industry is sadly lacking in creative bands.

  • 0:11 shes beautiful xD

  • ..Ahh the England of the 90s, the days of tape trading, top of the pops, britpop, people using phonebooths, step-haircuts ...really miss it.

  • soon they all will beome dads and then granddad..such a shame

  • never heard of this band before first time hearing them and I must say there are aw some.... has that old school 80s sound which I like...

  • camp??? really???

so the sun (or light) realy does shine out of Pauls ass...thought so..

    LOVE IT...WHAT A GREAT BAND...SADLY MISSED.

  • Camper than a row of tents, but brilliant! Mansun and the Longpigs are two bands that should have reformed

  • take a deep breathe

    2.)clap your hands twice

    3.)think about someone you like

4.)copy this to 2 other videos

5.)look at your hand 8 hours ago

  • I bought 'six' album by accident. And I must say it was one of the best accident I've ever made in my life.

  • when everyone was listening to 'OK computer' i had 'six' on repeat. a masterpiece. bowie and prince with a bit of draper!!! no wonder they folded after the follow up!! this was an album made by a band at there peak!

  • @jkwhitey I have both on repeat. Well, at first I really don't like Six. Been a Mansun fan since Take It Easy Chicken, so Six was unexpected. Then a year later I listened to it again and totally changed my view point. It's the best album.

  • I love the bit where they pay tribute to Bowies 'Heroes'. Truly a great band, such a shame they split after just 3 albums, there could have been so much more.

  • One of my favourite bands... they're fantastic... here in Brazil there's a lot of Mansun fans... (on all of "sexual labels"... but it doesn't matter) This is a GREAT band, awesome musicians !! Luv it

  • Yeah if you don't mind I just keep on listening the excellent long album version and never watch this cheesy queen-like video ever again.

  • Andy Rathborne is without the best gay drummer of the Brit pop era.

  • My Dad is not Gay. TO PROVE IT, ASK YA MA M8.

  • You're living example of how wrong I am.

opps sorry. Take it easy kid, You got one hell of a drummer

    for a dad!

  • Opps sorry, you're living example of how wrong I am. Your dad is one hell of a drummer! Great channel.

  • ahh i love it!

  • Great song, great video

  • Good song. Horrible video!

  • its about the prisoner being a number 6 and not wantin to comform to bein just just a number you thick pieces of shit !

  • nice video!

  • I remember Star Rock, this show that usedta be on local radio in Cambridge, would always play Mansun. These youtube vids are jogging my memory a little.

  • Maybe its time they shift their Sh%t and get back on that HORSE.. was great back in the day,and i myself would love to hear some more from this Bowie Sounding regeneration!! (Oh Wait he had Placebo for that ) ...or? :-P

  • Such an underrated band!

SIX was by easily one of the best albums of all time, and "cancer" was probably one of the greatest songs of all time.

And to the person who claims that they sound like manic street preachers, I really beg to differ. The singing style is different, mansun use rhythmic guitar, their songs are much longer in duration and sound more like montages of different songs - all in one song.

  • my fav band of all time is the manics (back in the days of generation terrorists) & i do agree with you that they sound nothing like them. I love mansun probably the second best on my list . And yes your right CANCER is a great song (probably the best off of the six album) unfortunately they didnt release it just like comes as no surprise (off little kix)

  • Yeah I think whoever thought they sounded like the manics, probably heard paul talking about how much he liked richie. The thing is with six, it was one of those albums that you had to listen to again and again, for it to grow on you (in my opinion) my fav bit of cancer is the bit at the end where he says "I need replacement to feel redifined, and its just this matter of identity" I felt as if it was a really spiritual song, and I guess im really into spirituality lol.

  • couldnt have put it better myself .well said

  • they dont sound anything like the manics

  • eh, I can hear it.

  • Tit, how do you work that out.

  • No disrespect to Mansun, but the similarities to the Manic Street Preachers are just ridiculous

  • ill take that as a joke.

  • Comment removed

  • That is a joke mate.. :)

  • Andrew rathbone (Drummer) Is my dad! :D

  • well,looks like your dad is "high",lol...

  • i was so lucky to get to see this band twice even if the 1st time i was too off my face to remember much i'm almost glad they weren't as well known as they should have been because i was there when many weren't i feel so priveliged

  • wow this is a good song

  • I prefer this version myself - much easier listening imo, you can just bob along down the street listening to this, Mansun are brilliant all around though =p

  • The first time i listened to this song it was this version. I never got to like the original more than this one.

By the way, a great band Mansun, good compositions and good taste for instrumental arrangements.

  • Absolutely fantastic. Both versions. I wish more people were aware of the greatness of this band. Particularly in the U.S. (where I live). Brilliant!

  • The album Six is the best album I have ever listened to on headphones. A true masterpiece.

This song kicks ass too, but I do prefer the album version. Paul is a wonderful singer.

  • the album version is alot better

  • LOL - he sounds like Cher on this one. I much prefer the album version.

  • Listen to the album version

  • i love the original take from the album but ok never mansun was the best group for singles!!!!

    but amazing albums!!!

  • ya know i cant seem to get the normal bog standed vid for wide open space no remix of the remix tut lol

  • So this is Mansun 'doing as others do' ? A verse-chorus boyband version of their album masterpiece? Cool :)

  • hmmm , this version removes the entire middle section and just leaves verse chorus verse. the album version is better

  • This is from a very, very good album indeed.

  • i hope they start touring, would it all sound the same if they made more albums?

  • brilliant song bring back mansun!

  • Oh jeebus. I can't believe how similar your name is to mine....

  • Desperate idea trying to condense Six into a single. Just sounds wrong.

Should've done something with Inverse Midas. Splendidly lovely song.

  • What the hell do glam rockers have with having a line shine out of their crotch?

  • Absolutely. They're one of those few bands that remain absolutely timeless. I must have listened to the album Six a billion times and it never gets boring. They were genius.

  • أفلام سكس

  • mansun are just so amazing.. I WANT MORE AND MORE MUSIC FROM THEM. its not fair :(

  • It really is a shame that Mansun never got really big. They were an awesome band, but somehow didn't get well known enough :(

  • I agree but I also kind off like the fact that they were a small band so that they feel more personal.

  • Yeah...it's like, your own band ^_^

  • Well said. Also, which big band these days are doing anything interesting?

  • nice to have something for urself though,,, hehe

  • why the fuck didnt this band stick???? dont get it!!! i guess some good fish just slip through.

  • What a comment! Philosophical, I must say!

  • attack of the grey lantern true is a fuking class album hope they reform defo SO UNDERATED

  • paul draper is planning a ten year anniverary event on the 7th september to celebrate "six" being ten years old. (look for paul draper on facebook for info)

attack of the grey lantern is a very deep album. if you cant cope with complex things it's not worth listening

  • superb band/song, the homophobes are the ones who are secretly curious anyway :P

  • I love this band, I still hope for their reunion.........Paul draper is the one of greatest song writers ,along side with Bowie, Lennon, Roger waters,Peter gabriel.....he's a killer wearing a joker face

  • Why weren't this band more popular ? I can't stand the likes of Coldplay or bands of that ilk. Mansun were way better !

  • Well said. Coldplay is an absolutely overrated band. Mansun was fantastic- one of the very few gems from the 1990s.

  • @ajittffcure First of all, that's just opinion, and second, how the fuck can you compare Coldplay with Mansun? They're totally different genres.

  • One of the UK's most under-rated bands, I don't know why cos they were great. And Little Kix is tops!

  • My 3 favourite bands, Mansun, the Stone Roses and the Cooper temple Clause have all split up. Am i a jinx? So what if he's gay, what a fuckin' voice! one of the most underated bands EVER!

  • indeed, sexuality means nothing. it's only dirty in boybands

  • i listen to music first and foremost, if it's good who gives a fuck if they are gay, black, muslim, got 5 legs etc etc!

  • No I believe Im the Jinx also 3 of my favourite bands ever! Would love any of these 3 to get back together 3 a few more gigs!

  • different to album version, i love six soooooooooo much, the whole thing is one weird beautiful adventure

  • Can't anyone enjoy music anymore?!

  • so what if the dude is gay, his choice, his life....enjoy the music guy's and gal's.

  • The Best ¡¡

  • You wanna suck his cock really don't 'ya?Don't'ya???

  • People like you should be erased from the planet.

  • Go to hell.

  • Brilliant.

  • i could listen to this song for years and years sooo damn buena!

  • What lyrics!!!! genius x I feel like Paul is singing right into eyes. Sexy guy that he is.

  • loved this albu, and loved the fact that they wrote it as they were recording it

  • wow, poor paul must have been in bad shape when he wrote this..

i kind of shiver to confirmity

did you see the way i cower to authority

my life it's a series of compromises anyway

it's a sham and i'm conditioned to accept it all

and you see it's emotionally effecting me

did you see my equlibrium unbalanced me

  • lol, according to paul the lyrics arent supposed to mean that much!

... just listen to the dark mavis bonus track!

  • wide open scape the best

  • yeahhhh

  • Six will remain a one of my favorite album ever...i could listen it for hours and months and years....

  • attack of the grey lanterns is also great.

  • Do love this, prob prefer Wide open space if i'm honest. But that's splitting heirs both were great songs by an underated band.

  • This brings me back to being at college again, and my slight obsession with the band lol! Loved Mansun.. Six the better album anyone?!

  • Six is one of my favorites.

  • outstanding wierd album.

  • classic...

  • So agree ..The album is amazing...Its got Tom Baker on it too !!!!

  • Was the name of the album on which this song was, also six? Can`t remember well...

  • Yes, the album was called Six too.

  • Maybe you do too erjuropig, just kiddin'.

  • No dude i rock.I tried to get into Mansun years ago but they annoyed the shit out of me.

My comments may have been too harsh.

  • Really witty reply.Seriously whats with the Bowie "Heroes" video rip off.Mansun were total fuckin' gash and they should never play music ever again.

  • Simpsons did it!!!

  • pop music is all mostly derivative. i mean, radiohead and coldplay have been accused of having taken entire riffs/melodies form other artists. not a genre for originality. if you are after that try THE MARS VOLTA

  • LOL.... Well im convinced

  • The album version is even better. It sucks that masterpieces like Six are so overlooked. Bands like Mansun & My vitriol deserve way more attention. We also need more great albums from them.

  • This is absolutely my most favorite song from Manson they sound musical really very special.

  • this band was really special

  • bgbml

  • certainly, this boy reminds me richey james

  • lol no

  • I know it doesn't even matter but were these guys gay or did they just have a sort of camp style. Regardless, one of my favourate bands of the 90's.

  • absolutely love it! i have to say it's great and it will be amazing to have them back again

  • Loved Mansun, they would kick the arse of all of the crappy emo bands about now,, where are your heroes when you need em???

  • Most talented band of the 90's !!

Often imitated but never bettered !!

  • the video reminds me of video for faster by the manics. can certainly see a richey era manics influence at work on some of mansun's stuff.

  • after six

  • The 8 minute version is the only version that I have of this song. Must snap up their greatest hits album today!

  • TOP BAND

  • mansun we need you back

  • Gintonic is right, we won't see Mansun's like again. Six took courage, and the fuckinbiz has changed so much since then. And now we've got troglodytes like Doherty and Borrell on the cover of the Observer. Goodbye, cruel world.

  • spot on - the music biz is controlled by vapid public school poseurs who think that vapid public school poseurs like Borrell and his ilk are cool and talented, whereas they are about as cool and talented and a lump of dog shit.

Mansun, on the other hand, were genius and genuinely different. Sad to think an album like Six isn't more widely known.

  • but no matter what you say.. this guy can sing...

  • Best band in the world...EVER! And the album Six: So brilliant.....so beautiful...so genious....there never will be a band like this....

  • a really underated band in my opinion not sure what happened to them but i thought there would be more to come from them sadly not though

  • Underated band !! I totally agree !

They look like stupid fags but they rock ! they do !

  • *mid 90's brit bands*

    ..new rave? ..new indie?

WE WERE IN WIDE OPEN SPACE, NOW

    - GAME OVER -

  • i like the music but i hate the band members

  • I'm curious to know why ?

  • well, 0:09 scared the crap outta me.

  • Hah hah~!

Well, i would say it's really Paul's fault to have such a good looking face!
