There are many deciding factors. Power adders, power curves, wt. distribution, tire compounds, gearbox ratios, torque figures, etc,etc,...... This video proves nothing. For all we know driver input could have been the cause of this outcome. On street tires, and on the street that extra 500hp could actually cause adverse effects. Not likely at higher speeds but definately from a standstill and most likely at even highway speeds.

It comes down to these couple of factors. Number 1: Money! It definately matters what you can afford to build. The faster you want to go the steeper the bill gets. Unless your filthy rich this will always be a factor. Number 2: Driver ability. I know everyone wants to believe they are the "best" driver in the world,but theres always someone better and quicker w/more experience. Number 3:Laws of physics. Different vehicle platforms will generate diff outcomes. HP & Wt. are not the only factors.

1,500hp is very much so possible. I have a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder turbo drag car that generates 1,000whp. So another 500whp from twice the cylinders is not such a difficult task anymore. I have several friends that are currently running running car on the street that make in excess of 900whp with one of them being a 1,200whp Viper. Some pump gasoline some E85. But they are still driving these vehicles nearly on a daily basis and fueling them up at the pump.
