Judge Dredd Pinball Deadworld ball lock mod

Hi, I also have this mod. Sure makes the game better but I often have to adjust the crane to ensure it keeps picking up the balls. Do you have the same problem? It sometimes takes an age to get the positioning just right.

Any chance you could make a video showing hoe to install the lock mod? I just got a JD, and am wanting to put one in.

Anyone know why some dredds say "dimensional lock 1" and others say "dimensional phase 1" when locking a ball? The movie of my Dredd says "dimensional lock 1". Wierd

@Ozricman Depends on the firmware version. The production version (usually L7) was changed to have the production dead-world ring, which does not keep the balls in the ring. The original idea (like you see here) was to lock the balls in the ring, but they feared the crane would sometimes miss unloading the balls, so they made the holes in the ring open so if that happens the ball always rolls off. What you see here is firmware version L1 which still has the ring lock.

@Ozricman Different sound ROM version. The ones that say "lock" are supposed to be used with the game ROM that actually locks the balls, the latter ones again with the version that just virtually locks them. I have a L-7 game, but I kept the sound roms that say "lock" :)

Thanks for the info. What's the advantage of the kit, and makes it more fun to play? Where do you recommend you get the kit from? I found one on Pinbits website. You replace one Eprom chip and the plastic ring. I don't remember mine having that light flashing in the center of the deadworld. Also, Is their only a multi-ball mode, or are their other ball modes you can play? Do you know what the errors mean that come up and how to fix them? Thanks!
