What does it mean to serve American? Well it means to serve the World. UN. If you are based in Japan you are serving Japan and America. If you are based in Iraqi you are serving Iraqi and America. etc.
I can see why some men from other countries would prefer the USMC. Many of us remember when Canadian snipers did a great job in Afghanistan and the US military tried giving them medals for it while their own country accused them of war crimes.
Why are people trashing colo250? He speaks the truth in some ways and to some the truth can be painful. Many people do join because they can't find a job or want help paying for their education. The military offers just that, a steady income with the possibility of going to college afterwards. I do respect these guys, just like any soldier from any country who fights for a good reason.

Actually, it was when we started kicking British ass that the French decided to start helping. Look it up. As for the RM, they're trained for commando-type operations. They don't do what the USMC does and the USMC doesn't do what the RM does, so it's stupid to compare the two.

Actually, it was when we started kicking British ass that the French decided to start helping. Look it up. As for the RM, they're trained for commando-type operations. They don't do what the USMC does and the USMC doesn't do what the RM does, so it's stupid to compare the two.

No, they didn't. Britain lost both wars they fought against the US and even in those wars, they didn't fight alone. In the War of Independence, they had German help and in the War of 1812, they relied heavily on various Indian tribes.

If I recall, in 1812 it was the Americans who invaded British teritory, and it was the Americans who were repelled.
At the time Britain was also facing off against France in Europe, commiting most of their troops to home defence and the Peninsula War.
Therefore it was amazing that the USA could not seize the initiative and secure a quick victory over the British, and instead blundered in and ruined the entire prospects of the campagin.

You recall wrong. The Americans successfully took western Canada and held it until the end of the war. The subsequent British invasion of the US East Coast was repelled with heavy British losses, as was their next attempt at New Orleans. And what's really amazing is that the US wasn't crushed from the start since it was a 3rd-rate power at the time while Britain was supposedly the strongest nation on Earth.

We weren't in Vietnam by ourselves (Oz and SK were there too), the only Americans who evacuated Saigon on helicopters were embassy staff, the Viet Cong was destroyed in 1968 (Saigon fell to the NVA), and France only decided to help after we captured an entire British army at Saratoga, NY. As for wars won by ourselves, we've got the Spanish-American War, the Barbary Wars, and the War of 1812. Seriously, try reading a history book.

they had an embarassing defeat over in the pacific in 1942 i think, i think an entire army corps surrendered in a couple of weeks
and finally the land in normandy supported by us, 3-4 months later they get their asses wooped by the SS in Arnhem.

@sodaandjuice123 I served in the Marine Corps and was in the 1st Focre Recon Company when i transferred into the Army and I went into 1st SFOD-D when I transferred. Of course you won't believe that, as nobody ever does who hasn't had the honor of walking that path too.
