And when you doubt the Word of God, you doubt God Himself. The proof is in us when we read His Word and OBEY it. When we do this, He reveals Himself & His Truths to us. And the only way anyone can ever truly understand the Scriptures is when GOD opens their eyes and minds and hearts to His Word.

@YouTubricant - Yes, it is interpreted, but we cannot make it say what we want it to say. "No one comes to the Father except through me" means that Jesus Christ is our only access to the Father. I do know it needs to be interpreted, but when it is interpreted it must be done correctly which Bell and McLaren do not do.

@YouTubricant - It (OT) was transcribed word for word by the Jews for centuries and if one mistake was made, one little "jot or tittle" in the wrong place, it was thrown out and had to be recopied all over again. Now the Jews don't believe Christ is the Messiah, but there were many who did and have faithfully transcribed it just the same way. And like I said, God has to reveal His Word to you. Don't use a "modern" Bible like the NIV or "The Message." Get a KJV or a NASB. They are very accurate.

As a teacher of history and religion I find this series of videos dogmatically narrow. For example, the salvation response does not address the historical issues that Maclaren raises but merely quotes scripture as though that were the end of the matter. This sort of approach is exactly what the Reformation and the Enlightenment period were about when they attempted to engage a wider understanding of faith. Thank you, Karen. An excellent and needed video. To emphasize your point on leading those caught in homosexuality out of darkness, please consider including verse 11 of 1 Cor 6, "And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." This verse is full of the hope for change in Christ. This is the verse pastors should be preaching from the pulpit, not ideas about indifference to sin.
