  • nice man! thanks for the help...ive been tryna get my shading down but i havent gotten it quite there yet..you got really sick tatts! and i have been trying to create a grey wash system for shading but havent gotten that down either lol. n i gotta use witchhazel instead of water haha. n the nickel method is just setting the distance from the armature bar to the coils to the thickness of a nickel....

  • Hey Clifton! Thanx so much for your feedback bro! Greatly appreciated!!!.....I've been tattooing for just under 4yrs now!! now I use for my shading a solid black, half black, full grey, half grey, and a inkcap of witchhazel for my mixes! my preffered needles I like to use for black And Grey shading are curved mags, for a nice smooth blend..... But I've gradually gone heavier over time! !.... whats the nickle method???......All the best! rock'on Ash

  • Hey dude! thanx for leaving a comment on my video! I do realise the significance of the Maori tattoo! but have not yet visited the New Zealand! but have read & watched as much as I've been able to find on the Maori & New Zealand culture....

I've met and tattooed a few island guys now, and with respect asked them to ask their families for permission to get tattooed by myself as I understand the importance of this.

  • I've had mixed feedback from islanders from all over polyniasian islands, NZ, Samoan,Hawaii etc some good some bad, but I've really tried to create a uniqe contemporary style using all aspects of all island styles + creating my own aspects too.

I really don't want to cause any offence to any culture, but want celebrate the tattoo history of them.

  • unfortunately some people are bound to be not happy, but I've recieved some amazing feedback from islanders too....

at the end of the day the tattoos I create are just an empty Moko, tattoos for islanders & none islanders who appreciate the unique history and beauty of the island tattoo....much love & respect

    Ash

  • Do you know the significance of Maori tattooing at all? Have you even visited New Zealand to meet the people and culture this came from?

If you aint a NZ'r and don't know the significance of Maori tattooing then you shouldn't put needle to skin for a design like that. I'd never do a Moari tattoo or Maori inspired tattoo and I am a born and bred NZ'r. Cultural heritage needs respect.

Not hating on you, just makin' sure you know what you are dealing with. With greatest respect it is great work.
