2nd greatest scene, in movie. basement speech was best ! can't compare this to real life, c'mon, wtf ??? don't get me wrong, pbf, is a monster talent !! only thing is, pacman is better !! in ring, n outside it !! i respect pbfs talent, but hat the person. & cross my fingers, hoping to se the day he grows a set of balls, faces pacman, & gets knocked da F!!! OUT !!
u dnt even know what he says is true i am small and 2nd place silver gloves and there was sum 1 and we fought for the finals and he put me to the test and i knocked him out and hurt my hand and didnt fight the final....but self respect is all i needed and trust me this speech is gr8 for athletes to hear
I love the ROCKY movies so enough with the mayweather comparisons! and no ones running from pacquiao! floyd and de la hoya have had lawsuits against bob arum (pacquiaos promoter) for years for money that guy fucked them out of years ago. fuck pacquiao and arum. manny had to take the same "olympic" drug test for a fight 5 years ago and morales beat his bitch ass like he stole something floyds undefeated. whos running?
@OoLenny40oO then you get a gun and shoot him, or a knife. if your afraid to get hit, then don't get hit. I like this movie, but personally, i think boxing is stupid....unless you have no other financial options, then you become a boxer, and even then, you should only be one when you really want to. The idea of someone about to hurt you, and you only use your arms and fists is to protect yourself is just plain unreasonable to me.
@GuardianAngel5150 Mayweather isn't running running from that steriod up Manny Pacquiao stop swinging on Manny's Nuts ya'll Pactards get on my nerves with all that bullshit! Comment on this clip not Manny and Floyd!
To this day I never could see Mason as the antagonist, he is just a man who wants to fight with his heart like Rocky did. Both characters have high regards in my book.
Most def. Actually in many ways the character of Dixon mirrors both Tarvers real life and also Roy Jones Jr. Both great talents, unfortunately in their prime with nobody out there as good as them for them truly to be tested.
Its what made Rocky 6 great. A small semblance of real life
? how the hell did that scene affect ur life? The scene is used to give dixon a character and not some random jerk. Its and emotional scene and between dixon and his coach. now how did the scene affect you? I bet you didn't even understand a word the guy said. Seriously dude just because its a scene with emotions and advice is being given from the coach to dixon doesn't mean it affects you. get a life.
I like this scene a lot. It really helps to give Rocky's opponent character, and not just make him some loud mouhted egotist like Clubber Lang was. Mason Dixon is shown to be a human in every sense of the word, but as a victim of his own success, he is misunderstood and lacks true respect for himself because of it. His plight is very sympathetic IMO, and despite being Rocky's opponnent of the sixth movie, he's not an antagonist.
@FirstTsurugi06 Well said. I couldn't agree more. It seems to me that the sport of boxing today is just not the sport that recognize from our generation. We need more boxers like those of yester year: Marveleous Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard, Michael Spinks, Larry Holmes, and many others from the early days of boxing on H.B.O Sports, which desreve mentioning which i don't recall. And yes " Mike Tyson", although in my oppinion he was more of a knockout artist than boxer.
@FirstTsurugi06 I so agree with what you said. It was like the 1st Rocky movie. both Apollo Creed and Dixon Hill were not 1 dimmensional characters. They had depth and emotion and you felt for them. Mason is a young fighter looking for a challenge and he finds one with Balboa. He's not simply the Villain. you feel for the guy even sympathize with him. This really shows Stallone's ability as a talented writer.
Yeah. Rocky III and IV were about making the other guy this evil kind of character. Humanizing Mason Dixon was a wonderful touch to the script. I wouldn't have enjoyed the last Rocky if they made Mason into a cocky disrespectful loudmouthed punk.
Great movie! Awsome fight with Dixon and Balboa as well. But at the end of the day Apollo would have out boxed Dixon, Clubber Lang would have Knocked him out and Drago would have DECAPITATED the poor fucker!
This scene made Mason Dixon a unique character in comparison to Rocky's other opponents. Every other opponent Rocky faced, they were these monsters but Dixon wanted to prove something to himself and that's why I liked the fight between Rocky and Dixon very much.
Yea this is the only classy opponent in the series. Apollo Creed was cocky and arrogant until he lost on part 2, Clubber Lang was a psychopath, Drago was juiced on steroids, and Tommy Gunn was a sellout. I agree.
