I remember seeing him on the news before the movie was made. It showed a young man climbing a building bare handed exactly how it was described in the movie.
cant believe this was based on a true story. i can imagine that i would feel the same way as the father did when he found his son, torn between wanting to bring him home and have the life that he wanted for his son and admiting to himself that the boy had found a new life within the tribe and found happiness with his native girlfriend/wife of the forrest.
i watched thise on tv tonite and i actuly seen a similer thme explored in Avatar outsiders call them feirce pepole or sky pepole [us] going in and wreaking the natives [indiens or na"vi ]world and destroying it and taking what dosent belong to us so i recomend thise film too as well as Avatar
(For the people who have seen 'Avatar') Avatar has something from these film. Their whole way of live. So closed from the others. The name Neytiri (in Avatar) is like Kachiri. XD
@7LY8 yes i thought that tonite when i last seen it [Avatar was never heard of]Tomme is Jake taken into their culture and Kachiri is Neytiri i wonder if Charlie Boorman [Tomme]sees it too
I was like, 13 years old and we had to study this movie in class. the others didn't give a shit about it but i did, mostly because of this soundtrack, it's so uplifting at 0:31 ..
this film is fantastic, ive seen it twice in the cinema and now im the proud owner of it on dvd.
the music is very enchanting and beds well againsed the immages within the film.charley boorman is a fine actor in his own right and the powerfull message in the subtext of the film should be undrstood by all who care about what is happening to mother earth...well done john.

Watched it last night for the first time, amazing but I agree, not really mainstream stuff, which is a pity.

Then to think it is based on a true story.
Touching theme, great story.
But not for mainstream moviegoers.
