Danny Kaye's French, Italian and German sound authentic even if you speak those languages, but are all gibberish. The only entertainer who could do this better was Peter Ustinov, who also simulated Arabic, Spanish and Swedish in the same way. Both men were actually polyglots.
When the Doge did his duty and the Duke didn't, that's when the Duchess did the dirk to the Duke with the Doge... There they were in the dark: the Duke with his dagger, the Doge with his (dart?), the Duchess with her dirk... Yes! The Duchess dug at the Duke just as the Duke dove at the Doge. Now the Duke ducked, the the Doge dodged and the Duchess didn't. So the Duke got the Duchess, the Duchess got the Doge and the Doge got the Duke.
@Stairc This movie isn't very well known to the younger generation. I had only first heard of this movie less than a month ago because of a reference by the sketch group Loading Ready Run. Recent, successful, and/or notorious movies are only popular on Youtube, and unfortunately this film is none of the three.
@Stairc It's absolutely scandalous that he's not up there with Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire in people's minds. He was one of the most talented performers of the 20th century, and hardly anybody I know has heard his name or seen his films! When I have children, they will grow up on Danny Kaye films!
Jesus loves you so much that He died on a cross for all our sins, as payment for them, so that we wouldn't have to burn in Hell paying for them ourselves. All we have to do is believe in Him, that He is God, died to save us from our sins, and rose again(defeating death). "For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal Life" ~ John 3:16
I'm German, and I must say, the "German", which is no real German, is splendid!!! Gives the sounds of the language with hardly an intelligible word at all *lol*.

One of my favourite bits from this movie has always been the bit about the italian court with the Duchess the Duke and the Doge.

So few views?!?!? That's criminal! There are few entertainers greater than Danny Kaye and few comedies more elegant or enduring!

@MegaFunMovies Funny what I noticed was that.. the knights and other fellas are a whole hotter than todays boxer-displayin' offerings too.
