  • Danny Kaye's French, Italian and German sound authentic even if you speak those languages, but are all gibberish. The only entertainer who could do this better was Peter Ustinov, who also simulated Arabic, Spanish and Swedish in the same way. Both men were actually polyglots.

  • His "German" is absolutely hilarious!

  • 4:04!

  • This is wonderful! Even my brother, who rarely likes movies with singing, absolutely adores this.

  • Danny Kaye, you are a mad genius.

  • "Get it?" "Got it. "Good!" That's what that's from! I love this movie!

  • How did I not know about this movie before now?

  • "...in the wit of every tounguewho are yooooou?" LoL!

  • I once taught my bird to whistle like that. ^^

  • When the Doge did his duty and the Duke didn't, that's when the Duchess did the dirk to the Duke with the Doge... There they were in the dark: the Duke with his dagger, the Doge with his (dart?), the Duchess with her dirk... Yes! The Duchess dug at the Duke just as the Duke dove at the Doge. Now the Duke ducked, the the Doge dodged and the Duchess didn't. So the Duke got the Duchess, the Duchess got the Doge and the Doge got the Duke.

  • One of my favourite bits from this movie has always been the bit about the italian court with the Duchess the Duke and the Doge.

  • I'm sad. I followed all of that nonsense perfectly. I wonder what that says about me :(

  • love his german

  • @zillarillion My familiy and I say that all the times thanks to this awesome movie :)

  • Get it? Got it. Good.

  • So few views?!?!? That's criminal! There are few entertainers greater than Danny Kaye and few comedies more elegant or enduring!

  • @Stairc This movie isn't very well known to the younger generation. I had only first heard of this movie less than a month ago because of a reference by the sketch group Loading Ready Run. Recent, successful, and/or notorious movies are only popular on Youtube, and unfortunately this film is none of the three.

  • @Stairc It's absolutely scandalous that he's not up there with Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire in people's minds. He was one of the most talented performers of the 20th century, and hardly anybody I know has heard his name or seen his films! When I have children, they will grow up on Danny Kaye films!

  • Danny Kaye - King of Tongue-Twisting. Yeesh! XD

  • 0:00 to 0:40 : one of the best dialogues in movie history !! (Beginning in Part 3/11)

  • 0:01 my favorite part! I LOVE DANNY KAYE!!!!

  • I'm German, and I must say, the "German", which is no real German, is splendid!!! Gives the sounds of the language with hardly an intelligible word at all *lol*.

  • @blueeightysix Sounds very much like Chaplin in "The Great Dictator" to me...

  • less makeup

  • That cart full of chicks look way hotter than today's chicks.
