ps in manitoba it register a bike, for only the summer months is upwards of $2000 so here its like twice as much as a car because our insurance guy is a prick and hates bikes
@oi565 helmet, jacket and gloves for sure. you dont really need riding pants, blue jeans are ok but they will rip and wont give much protection. in the summer i wear a helmet, tshirt, shorts and one of those back braces for riding. always wear a helmet though. sadly all the gear can be really expensive like $400 bucks. But if you buy the stuff used you could get it all for $100.
Hey blinky im just about to get a bike to commute to work each day ive been watching your vids an admire the ninja 250r , how ever i've done some research an appearantly the Cbr250r is a little cheaper to maintain and lighter on fuel, (keep in mind i will be clocking 1000 Km a week if i ride every day to work ) whats your thoughts?
@CoolKidzRus bikes are MUCH, MUCH cheaper on insurance than cars. Small displacement is the reason. cars are mostly above 1 liter. Bikes are mostly 1 liter or less. blinky cabs is 0.25 liters.
Fuel... Realy!?!? Most bikes get the same MPG as the hybrids do. Yeah there more money but they are safer and they last longer then a bike. If you what to save on gas a 250cc is the best because the top speed on a 250cc is faster then ANY speed limit listed. Hey blinkycab I know you drive a 250cc and i'm not hating on you I this get pissed when people buy 600cc or 1000cc+ and say that they are this driving it to save on gas.
@stellaspeed10 haha yeh, i ride an F4i and i probably use more gas than my car the way i ride, maybe i should get a 250 to save on gas and still ride =P
I only own a motorcycle and my girlfriend loves it, but what i need is a car, i know its cheaper to run a motorcycle, but here in England the weather sucks, i don't know how a bike is social, because while my friends are in their cars, i'm by myself most of the time, cold, wet, and kinda bored. a car for the winter a bike for the summer thats what i say!
your lucky your in Australia, in New Zealand when buying registration the government should wear a mask when they take your money the thieving buggers.
@6nd6 Lane splitting is not forbidden in Australia. However, a rider may possibly infringe on other rules while splitting the lanes.
In my experience, most policemen do not care about lane splitting (or the associated infringements that do occur) while the rider is obviously in control and is not driving recklessly.
Check your state's motor registry website. The Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme (LAMS) which specifies appropriately powered motorcycles with an engine capacity up to and including 660cc which do not exceed a power-to-weight ratio of 150 kilowatts per tonne. In all the states that implement LAMS, the Ninja 250r is approved. In WA, the Ninja 250r is approved for the R-E class licence.
a major pro for me is visibility, in a car you always have some part of the cars body blocking your view when you're reversing or checking your blind spots, but on my bike it's so much easier seeing where other vehicles are.
hey, i was wondering if you know any motorcycles of the same price range (4,000 to 6,000) That still have that sporty look? because right now i am pretty much sold on the ninja if i cant find anything cheaper with that sleak sporty look
I always thought that owning a bike was more expensive than a car due to frequent servicing. Although I guess buying an 8k bike with 1k gear on top + subsequent servicing fees is cheaper than buying a 25k car. It'd be nice to have a bike AND a car though.
You seem like a cool dude blinky, but I think you really should get some draggins and boots, don't get too cocky, there are a lot of idiot drivers out there man!
All riders are aware of the dangers to riding without full gear, however if u live in a country that doesn't have a law stating that u must wear a certain type of protective clothing then it is up to the individual to decide, I don't understand why some people get so worked up over other riders choices.
Keep up the good work blinky, I'll go for a ride in shorts with u anytime champ.
Great vid. But as a motorcycle technician. Bikes do need maintenance more than cars. Yes it is cheaper though. Change your oil no more than 2500 miles. Have your valves checked at no more than every 15000 miles(depending on rider). Otherwise you can have problems. If you ever hear knocking or pinging stop immidiatley cuz you have seconds before your motor literally blows apart. But you are right on the cheap on maintenance and fuel part. Keep up the great vids!
Cons are easy though. You're more vulnerable, you can't carry much and the weather can do your head in (think of rain and cold weather). These are the things i can come up with anyway. Even if i want to shop for food for the day it's a problem becuase there's simply no place to store it aside from saddle baggs which are pretty small.
Hey blinky, been following your vids for a while now. Thanks to all the vloggers I followed, you guys inspired me to get a bike and vlog myself! I noticed you enjoy playing the guitar as well. It's interesting to me how so many bikers always have so many hobbies in common... anyway, keep up the vids and ride safe man! :D
I've been watching your vids for about a week. You inspired me to get the Ninja 250R and show how much fun a 250cc can be from your view which is really insightful and makes me want to have a piece of what it's like to ride a bike. :D
Soo thank you very much for being the sole reason for me getting into riding! :)
PS: Should i get a yoshimura slip-on exhaust? i heard the extra 2+BHP and beastly sound adds to the "Sex Appeal" >:P
I would really like your suggestions and advice :)
what kind of safety gear should i get if i get like a 250r? i dont have even a little bit of a clue on what kinda gear i would need ive never owned a motorcycle before =P keep up the awesome vids though
Ive always wanted a bike and im nearly 18 (bout 3 months away :)) and the only thing stopping me is my parents. i have since i was a kid wanted a bike and we used to live NSW country but dad got a new job and we moved to SA. there are a few more personal reasons that my dad wont let me get a bike but mainly safety issues. well i should let you know that i did have a car of my own but i sorta decided to roll it.. yer dont do it not as fun as it sounds. anyways how dangerous are bikes?
i would add also the parking solution in pros.here in greece you need an hour to find a parking downtown.so if you have a bike you solve a hugeeeee problem!!
One con to owning a motorcycle is security. Particularly, if you attend a community college, you don't want to have your baby stolen, so you have to invest in every imaginable measure of security.
Just got my blue ninja 250 out yesterday after waiting all winter... I love it... but curious to just test a GSXR just to see....but I love the bike...it's so much fun and fantastic...

hey blinky. i have been thinking of buying a bike for some time. but i don't know if i want to buy a new one or used. if i should buy a used bike then what are the things i should look for. just so i don't buy a piece of shit. i don't know any thing about bikes but how to ride. dirt, sport, classic. i just need to know how to inspect a bike when buying.
Yes...they have a $500 off show bucks from the manufacturer...certain dealers will honor it....best price I found brand new...sold my scooter and used my tax return and paid ca$h 4 it :) looking at test driving a GSXR 600 this weekend...by the way blinky's real name is Mitchell he is 24 from obviously Australia....kind of a younger guy
hey blinky should get some people together and go for a group ride. ive got a ninja and im always keen for a ride. live on the bayside aswell. have a good one
hey blinky! long time viewer & rater, first time commenter... i have a reccomendation: quit your day job and make videos exclusively. everyone wins! i've been learning as much as i can about bikes because im buying a ninja next week. your channel has a wealth of info and i thank you for that. keep doin' your thing!
At 22, and my first year of insurance in Ontario was 1800$, my 2nd year @ age 23 will be just over 1000$. Not horrible. But I bet its more if your 18 or younger....
Blinky, do you have 3rd party, or full comp insurance? Because from the couple of quotes I've done, full comp bike insurance doesn't seem that different to a car.
A bike definitely needs MORE maintenance than a car does. the thing is, its such light work and simple work on a bike that it's a piece of piss to do yourself. or even if you do lose your mind and pay to get it done, its a lot cheaper than work on a car would be due to its simplicity
Not sure you get get this question a lot but have you ever hit a pothole? After the recent shit winter there are A LOT of potholes where i live. some that i even have to avoid with my SUV cause they are so deep and big.
@DarkEclips If they are THAT large, it's best to avoid them but if you can't (what i like to do anyway), just roll off the throttle a little bit (so the weight shifts toward the front) then throttle up as you pass the pot hole (about 0.5 seconds before you hit it so the weight shifts to the back) and stand on your pegs so your manhood stays intact. Then away we go :)
Fantastic! once again another great vid :) i was thinking about selling my car when i get my bike this is just helping make the choice although i will wait to see the cons :D thanks blinky!
@NSI5TNT There are many downsides to that decision. Any long distance traveling, more than one passenger, passengers who will not get on a motorcycle for various reasons, bad weather, carrying anything larger than will fit in a backpack or saddlebag/tankbag, etc. Don't get me wrong, I love motorcycles, but I would not make that decision. If it fits your life though then go ahead. No foreseeable moving, friends have cars of their own, close job, not a job that requires formal attire.
just my luck, its been 30 degrees in syd all day. i finally had the spare cash to register my bike. and as soon as i do bam its fucken raining, dam you sydney weather
the whole frame issue seems way better already, weiiird.
love the video man, i'll add a 'don't wear shorts' though buddy, if you fall with shorts your gaurranteed a hell of a lot of pain and permanent damage, if you even wear cheapish leg protection you may get by without even a scratch.
would I go well with a ninja 250.. I'm 194ish cm tall, 74 kgs?

its finally spring ! I'm so happy. Thanks for the videos love watching them. !

Cheap on insurance?! You must be kidding, especially if you're under the age of 25...
Nickiller6969 11 months ago
@Nickiller6969
I think it is as well. I pay less on my 09 650r for full coverage than I do on my 10 year old corolla with just liability. I'm 21.

@toxicbeaver
Awesome way to put it.
alehax27 11 months ago
Blinky, do you have 3rd party, or full comp insurance? Because from the couple of quotes I've done, full comp bike insurance doesn't seem that different to a car.

Owning a motorcycle is a great icebreaker for me when it comes to socializing. :-)

A bike definitely needs MORE maintenance than a car does. the thing is, its such light work and simple work on a bike that it's a piece of piss to do yourself. or even if you do lose your mind and pay to get it done, its a lot cheaper than work on a car would be due to its simplicity

i saw what you did there @ 1:35...
i did the same thing...

Not sure you get get this question a lot but have you ever hit a pothole? After the recent shit winter there are A LOT of potholes where i live. some that i even have to avoid with my SUV cause they are so deep and big.
DarkEclips 11 months ago
@DarkEclips If they are THAT large, it's best to avoid them but if you can't (what i like to do anyway), just roll off the throttle a little bit (so the weight shifts toward the front) then throttle up as you pass the pot hole (about 0.5 seconds before you hit it so the weight shifts to the back) and stand on your pegs so your manhood stays intact. Then away we go :)

Fantastic! once again another great vid :) i was thinking about selling my car when i get my bike this is just helping make the choice although i will wait to see the cons :D thanks blinky!
NSI5TNT 11 months ago
@NSI5TNT There are many downsides to that decision. Any long distance traveling, more than one passenger, passengers who will not get on a motorcycle for various reasons, bad weather, carrying anything larger than will fit in a backpack or saddlebag/tankbag, etc. Don't get me wrong, I love motorcycles, but I would not make that decision. If it fits your life though then go ahead. No foreseeable moving, friends have cars of their own, close job, not a job that requires formal attire.

ahhh I see from 3:20 you also have fart cannon cars in Australia... I thought idiots may only be limited to north america hahaha!

Insurance is more for a motorbike, at least it is for me.
Just try to wear full gear. People look retarded without the gear.
And you're right, bikes are pretty social, I go for group rides and it's amazing fun.
And I love quickly zipping through traffic.
leagle0147 11 months ago
the whole frame issue seems way better already, weiiird.
love the video man, i'll add a 'don't wear shorts' though buddy, if you fall with shorts your gaurranteed a hell of a lot of pain and permanent damage, if you even wear cheapish leg protection you may get by without even a scratch.

Do you always wear protective gear? In some parts of America, we dont have to wear helmets. Is Australia the same?
dculp39231 11 months ago
@dculp39231 In Australia it's the law to wear a helmet when riding a motorbike.

blinky o blinky. PLEASE don't wear shorts on a motorcycle =\ it's not worth the risk of wiping out and tearing your knees off.
Think of the viewers :) You have an obligation to set a good example
