Once a great company I have to say, Until they got rid of white goods, it started to slide,a bad decission all the way. I put my heart into this company, I believed in it in every way, now its just a memory, Circuity City gone and past away. I wish every circuit city employee all the best I pray , you were like my brothers and sister circuit city blood all the way.. thanks for the fun and glorious years, it was hard to see my company disappear and all my friends go away, plenty of tears..
I am a Best Buy employee. I will say this that a lot of us much as we enjoy being at Best Buy, we are saddened that Circuit City is out of the picture. Competition is great for the market, be we hope that CC does find a way to comeback...now we gotta deal with Walmart....arg.
The Circuit City that used to be near my home was always undermanned.
Not enough cashiers, not enough service reps, and not enough warehouse guys.
And you know, what made the whole thing laughable? The managers, supervisors, firedog, and even the "redshirts" all didn't seem to care as they easily could be seen outside, through the windows, smoking in groups and in plain view of the customers... all while leaving a single cashier to handle the checkout counter for the whole store.
I used to work at CC and they used to be the best. Things went wrong when CC REFUSED to adjust and adapt to the times, keeping products more expensive to give consumers a more "professional" feel. Meanwhile, 16 year olds working at Best Buy had just as much knowledge as someone at CC hawking shitty products to make commission.
It was a great place to work (I worked from 97-99) but I saw the shitstorm coming from a mile away.
They could have spared all the seminar costs, travel costs, production cost and the tacky high fives by doing ONE thing: paying their employees a decent wage/salary so they feel part of the success of the company. Customer service would improve as result, too. The rest is BS.
Nope, they were too cheap and now they don't exist anymore.
I remember having to go into work around 7 AM on a Sunday to watch this stupid video. I knew it was all BS. Fuck you Phil. Worst CEO Ever.

The people behind this obviously never actually went into the STORES! They should have hired ME to turn them around.
