Wright made the first really important breakthroughs, the europeans learned about his work in 1910, Wasmuth Portfolio, Mies admits this in many interviews.
You can see the resemblence and influence of Frank Lloyd Wrights work....which was of course done decades earlier, whom many german architects at the time admired...
